You saved my life, we had to do a presidential campaign poster for my project, and this is the best thing I could find, by far the best explained tutorial on all of YT
Very late to this one but what a great tutorial! My problem was at 9:33 when adding the halftone line effect. I was just dialing in the numbers and OKaying immediately instead of clicking that Plus sign at the bottom of the page and THEN OKaying. Problem solved, great poster created! Thanks a mill!!
In all the years I've been using photoshop, this is hands down THE BEST TUTORIAL I've ever used. And that's saying a lot. Easy to follow. Concise. And most importantly, it yields a beautiful result . Thank you so much!!!
I came across your channel last week and it has helped me so much with my university course! Thank you so much :) definitely going to recommend to my peers, keep it up!
Great tutorial!!! I would highly recommend this tutorial as each step is completely explained (well see my comment below at the 3:40 mark). Really good. Thanks for sharing.
HELP- when I make that third layer, the one in 8:48, and put in the 50% brightness colour, it works all fine, until I go to filter gallery, choose Halftone Pattern, do all those steps and get a striped red result, instead of the beige-y colour shown in the video right after, what did I do wrong?
I've tried to go through again and even just went straight through to see what it would look like and it looks like he did a joker move and cut off somebody's face for his own
Hi Marty thank you for the video, I tried converting the image into grey scale first and then adjusting the levels. Then placing the image into the template.
Place all of your layers in a group folder and place a layer mask next to the folder. Mask out the background surrounding the poster, so it doesn't take on a pattern.
If the foreground color is 50% grey and the background color is white, once you apply the halftone line pattern as instructed, it should automatically convert itself into a blue line pattern. I'm sure it's a minor user error, but frankly, one would have to inspect your PSD file to determine the source of the error.
Hello Mr brilliant Marti as an architect student can you help me in a video I want make a display project for stroke rehabilitation but I have to make it like poster the info with diffrent chart with brilliant ideas I dont know hw to start like portfolio but for the strategy not the drawing Thank you
As you can imagine, with close to a million subscribers, I receive numerous requests every week from viewers asking me to help them with Photoshop projects. However, due to my heavy work schedule, I barely have time just to answer the questions I receive. I trust you understand.
how come the last step and the final image you show at the end of the video are different and it appears that the image at the end is crisper also having more eye detail and looks cleaner
@@BLTV_Photoshop i have read that before in another comment, it was like this. i dont know what changed but in the end it worked for me. really thank you in advance for this tutorial !
I was ok until I got to the last step with the channels and the layer mask. I click to make the selection. Then I go back to the Layers panel and select mask layer and the image does not show up, only a faint outline. Do you know why this is? Thanks
Hi! thank you so much for this, its a great tutorial. unfortunately the template comes up as an invalid photoshop file :( do you have any idea what could cause this?
During one of the last steps, when I ctrl-click alpha one, it takes too large of a selection and captures the left portion of the horizontal box (so both the face and the the left side of the canvas is selected. When I complete the tutorial, the left column also has the halftone pattern....I'm too much a neophyte to adjust the selection in the Alpha channel....
@@BLTV_Photoshop I spent some time looking into my issue at I think it happens at 6:33 when you have to select the "second lightest tone". On my photograph, the second lightest tone matches the gray column on the left side of the frame, so it "selects" this area as well as a good portion of the face.
I'm working on this with one of my own photos. I find that the face ends up with too much red in it. I can see the map(?) when I open the filter gallery- what ends up being red in the face is dark gray. I do I adjust it to have less red?
I followed it step by step, but for some reason it ends up with only three colors. There is no red in my pic for example... :( wanted to do this for a birthday gift
Whenever I try to do the surface blur effect it just makes and outline of the person and the middle is transparent. I followed the instructions, am I missing something?

Somehow, there's about 12 HOURS worth of useful content in this ~12 minute video. Awesome tutorial!

Glad it was helpful!
Excellent as always. A lovely tribute to the king on what would have been his 83rd birthday today.
Really clear instructions on a comfortable speed. I can follow along just by hearing the audio.

Hey, you forgot to tell me I have to breathe so I choked.
😉
At 3:40, make sure you have Layer 2 (the newly created layer) selected before using Alt+Delete...
Excellent tutorial. Clear, concise and the pacing is perfect.
One of the greatest online tutorials i’ve ever watched. Thank you so much and please keep making these types of videos! Just subbed
Beautiful result, clearly explained. Thank you! Since there are many steps, is there a PS action to automate it?
That's an excellent question. If thre is, I'll look into it. 👍
I love your teaching from whole ps tutorial, it is step by step. Like it

It could be due to any one of multiple reasons. One would have to inspect your file to determine the source of the problem.
@@BLTV_Photoshop thank you SO MUCH- great video by the way!
Beautiful tutorial
Just wanna thank you for doing these amazing tutorials
When i merge layers, the lines disappear and it instead just fills with the colour underneath! What have i done wrong?
make sure the foreground is white in the bottom left
By the way the gotham font is now free (use the BOLD one)
Pass me the link .. I found only regular font
Your videos are awesome, as they are clear and very informative. Thankyou.
Thank you SO MUCH!!! God bless!
Thanks for this wonderful video, but the link to get the poster template is not accessible
It downloads fine on my end. Try a different Browser. I use Chrome. Just click the Download button.
Jesucristo jajaja muchas gracias, iba traduciendo, pausando y sufriendo pero fue posible solo por qué explicas muy bien!!
9:40 hii i dont have that channel panel "Alpha 1" What could have gonne wrong?
At 6:32, I explain how to save the selection which is the alpha 1 channel.
Hi Marty thank you for the video, I tried converting the image into grey scale first and then adjusting the levels. Then placing the image into the template.
If you go that route, make sure you revert your image into RGB color, 8 bits/Channel before you add color.
@ 9:40 Alpha channel doesn't appear to me at all - i have RGB,RED GREEN and BLUE? :(
At 6:38, once you save the selection, Photoshop saves it as an alpha channel.
Thanks a lot! Excellent tutorial
ALWAYS ON POINT...THANK YOU!
I love your tutorials !!!
please help me, what to do if my second lightest color is the same as the background? :( 6:35
Place all of your layers in a group folder and place a layer mask next to the folder. Mask out the background surrounding the poster, so it doesn't take on a pattern.
Perfect as always sir thanks so much and please keep it up
at 3:40 when you have to press alt and del it doesn't do anything even after I have used the rectangle marquee tool is there any solution?
Make sure the layer that you're filling the gray color with is active.
5:07 i have an error opening the filter gallery
What does the error say? Go to Image > Mode > RGB color, 8 bits/Channel.
I just followed your instruction and success. Thank you Marty! You Rock!
Really great
Is there a way to have alternative colours to this poster and if so how can I change them?
Watch the video from this point: ua-cam.com/video/vAPqGcwXKqA/v-deo.html
Really great tutorial! We want more!
Why do my lines become red and not the tan color?
It's possible you're in the Quick Mask mode.
Outstanding tutorial!!!
I love how he gets sponsored by a photoshop copy but still uses photoshop haha
Really helpful video. Will it work with a different kind of background like a flag?
Yes, but keep in mind, the colors are limited to what you direct it to have.
@@BLTV_Photoshop Ok thank you. I was planning on using the union jack so that should work
Implacable trabajo !!!
Gracias maestro por compartir tus magníficos conocimientos.
Great Video. Im having an issue with the halftone layer. It just stay grey!! Any ideas?
When is this in the video (minute : second)? Please refer to this video in your reply.
@@BLTV_Photoshop 9:06 -9:37 I docent show the line, it just says grey.

good tutorial, thanks sir
Is there anyway I can get a written print of your great instruction?
My Supporter channel members and Supporter Plus patrons receive transcripts.
Cool broo
Good morning, Marty!
awesome thank you!
Really useful, thanks!
Would it be possible to print this out, or would I need to re-do everything in CMYK format?
RGB is fine for most modern printers. CMYK shows what the colors may look like because they're duller, but frankly, CMYK mode is rather archaic.
Thanks for your reply. I’m a bit of a novice, it’s fun learning all these effects👍🏻

Hi Marty! After applying all the described adjustment layers, the features such as eyes nose in my portrait are not visible like in yours.

Hi I can't find the frame in the document, where is it?
You create the frame. I explained how in the video.
how come the last step and the final image you show at the end of the video are different and it appears that the image at the end is crisper also having more eye detail and looks cleaner
The former is a recording of my screen from my screen-recording software and the later is a jpg of the finished image.
amazing
I can't find the separate layer of the framed border in description! help!!
The framed border is included in the PSD file I provided. Once you open the document, you'll see it.

Thanks for letting know. I updated the link, so it works now.
it now works, thank you so much!
THANKS !!!
Your videos are great greetings from Germany, it's a shame that many of your designs have too little dpi to print afterwards
Thank you... awesome as always.
Could you direct me to where I can get the separate layer of the framed border and the shape to place the words. I only found the poster.
I explain how to create the border in the video.
Thank you.
9:45 when i ctrl click the alpha 1 how can i edit the selection ?
Once you make a selection, it's not meant to be edited in this video. It's meant to become a layer mask.
Loooooooooooved it!!!! You're my new heroe!!
Is it possible to use the image as a smart object to quickly replace one image with another?
The image IS ultimately a Smart Object. However, at 6:20 in the video, you'll need to manually add the selection for the second lightest color.
Can I make the layer from the face in star video in 300 dpi or is that not good
?
