Belle impro !!
Extraordinary. Evocative and intense. Fantastic control of the resources and tonal palate you have on that great instrument, and of course great musicianship. A "wow" of an improvisation. Thank you very much.
Where is the melodic theme? Where is the thematic development? What a load of meaningless, uninspired waffle. Some pleasant sounds are not sufficient to cover up the reality that Monsieur Ospital simply has nothing to say. What has happened to the Parisian school of improvisation? I haven't heard a single French improvisation that has really impressed me since Dupré was still alive and kicking in the 1950s and 60s.
I disagree. you don't necessarily need a specific musical theme, often a completely free style of improvisation can be original, impressive, magical. Anyway, after Dupré there was the fantastic Cochereau, for example, are you questioning his genius?... but even some of the brilliant improvisations of Frederic Blanc, who is alive today, are more than worth mentioning in their fantastic atmosphere and originality. Thomas's improvisation are indeed more virtuosic (playing of voices) than harmonic, but they are certainly noteworthy. (there are also some nice harmonic parts, sometimes it reminds me a bit of Blanc's improvisations. .)
Il serait bien de faire votre deuil de la mort de Marcel Dupré. Je suis certain que Marcel Dupré voit la classe d'orgue parisienne et Thomas d'un œil admiratif d'où il est.
@@BakosGergely Cochereau was overrated as hell. For every one of his improvisations that was any good were another ten that are plain bad and downright unpleasant to listen to. Free-form improvisation is all very well as long as you actually have some melodic material to work with, but here there is absolutely nothing. It is wholly vacuous and becomes tiresome well before the halfway point as a result.
Your words simply reflect how your mind is conditioned, but, believing that your mind is somehow "correct" you make critical statements as if only you see Truth. Your overly analytical mind wants music to be in line with a left brain view. Others see (hear) from a more balanced or right brain perspective. One is not "better" than another, except to minds which sleep in self-righteousness.
@@sathya999 it is not overly analytical to expect SOME melodic material - even if it is not conventionally tonal. Here, there is not even that. Only a load of rapid figurations on contrasting and frequently ugly tonal colours. I am reminded of Duruflé's repudiation of his own Opus 5 Toccata, comparing it to a sauce with no meat. Ospital clearly lacks such self-awareness...

Cette impro est juste incroyable !!! J'adore cet orgue !
The organists titulaire of Paris are exceptionel! Pardon my excreable French.
Genius! Stunning playing and wonderful world of tone colour.
When are you coming to visit London to play?
Belle et riche improvisation sur ce thème de prédilection, par l'un des organistes titulaires de Saint-Eustache !

A true artist.
He is, when he plays other people's music. Shame he can't improvise to save his life.
Fantastic!
Fantastic and mesmerizing! I love it.

What track is this improvisation on the album?
It is a bonus witch is not in the album.
