Nice to see some 'proper' angling on a natural waterway ( as opposed to a commercial carp invested pond) , glad you mentioned the important of getting there very early, dawn is so often the best time of the day.
A hair-rigged grain of (sinking type) plastic corn and you don't have to keep replenishing the hook ... I love using this method for wild tench here in Ireland... Nice vid, mate... a sub and a like from me !! 🤗 😎👍☘️🍺
Thanks for watching. All the drains have good numbers of Tench present, a walk at first or last light during June normally reveals them rolling and fizzing. Once you have located a few ,Pre - bait a swim for a few days and you are sure to catch one or two 😎
@@stivestackle. Thanks. That's a mark V. All hard to get hold of now. I don't like the idea of the X-tension rod in case dirt gets on the telescopic section. If you ever decide to sell yours, I'll definitely buy it?
Fantastic little clip,I drive up from the Saffron Walden area to fish for tench on the St ives lakes,I frequent your shop sometimes when up there, great shop! I’ve been trying to catch a gravel pit double on the float for years..a task harder than an English 40lb carp I’d say! I’ve noticed my catch returns on the pits diminishing as the years go on,very sad...keep thinking I should get on the fens for some more regular sport, keep the films coming 👍
Glad you like the shop and the video! Gravel pit piking can be very up and down, very much dependent on the food available for them to eat, and with cormorants wiping out the bait fish it doesn't bode well sadly. The fens offer plenty of sport but sadly bigger fish are thin on the ground. Piking is really much tougher than it used to be but I still go because I love it 😎
I have tried with a starlite through the night but nothing but Bream so far. The Tench seem to be super active at first light and within a couple of hours it goes dead. Thanks for watching 👍
The bait is just touching the bottom, when i re cast there is always the tiniest piece of blanket weed on the hook which is perfect. Thanks for watching!
Yes, I did pre-bait with some groundbait and sweetcorn the night before. It seems to do the trick with Tench rolling over the bait at first light. Thanks for watching

Glad you enjoyed it. First light is like you say the best time to be there watching a float, can't beat it. Thanks for watching.
Nice back drop great time of day keep them coming thanks
Thanks for watching! First light is a lovely time to be out in search of Tench
Great little film guys keep it up
Thanks Simon, more coming soon 😊
Great vid, a simple but devastating technique
Yes, can't beat seeing a float slide away and then connecting with a Tench thumping on the other end!

Thanks for watching! I may try the plastic corn trick next season 😎
Another nice film, well done boys 🎣
Thanks Neil, can't beat a lovely Tench!
Always love seeing a tench come out, well done mate
Can't beat a hard fighting Tinca! Thanks for watching.
Love it. Always makes me want to get out there. Looks a nice spot!
Thanks for watching. Maybe one day Rob you can come down and we'll have a go Tenching 😎
Great fishing those tench probably never been caught before 😊
You are probably right. Only a week to go and we can get out there and have another go for the Tench!
First time watcher. Been in Whittlesey for last year and would love to fish on drains more but just don’t know where to start

Hi, what version of the Drennan tench float rod is yours? The mark IV? Thanks.
Its a 13 foot Power Tench Float with the butt section that screws on. Not sure what mark it is.

@@andytsang3239 I'll let you know, still planning on giving it some more abuse yet!

Still plenty of pike in the twentys to be had in the fens on dead baits in the winter
Channeling your inner John Wilson! Just need to work on the chuckle and saying “it’s a clonker!” 😎🙌
Thanks for watching Martin! I'll have a go next time 😁
I liked John... but that chuckle always came across as so insincere !...😂
RIP M.Wilson... 😢🙏
If it is allowed, I would definitely fish for tench during the night. They feed so much more during the dark hours. Love the film anyway.

Fantastic video!
How deep your bite is? Is it touching bottom?
The bait is just touching the bottom, when i re cast there is always the tiniest piece of blanket weed on the hook which is perfect. Thanks for watching!
Where abouts is this?
This is on the Old Nene near Ramsey. There are good heads of Tench along most of the drain system in the area.
Why don't you wet your hands before picking the fish up as your dry hands are taking the protective slime away from the fish
No fish were harmed in the making of this video. Good advice though 😊
I've handled many tench and unlike bream, their "slime" doesn't rub off on your hands... just my experience... 😕
Did you prebait with ground bait?...Nice vid,btw
