I have been watching more and more of your stuff and you quickly becoming the place I got to for Sorc info. As A sorc main vids like this are amazing keep it up man! I can see this channel growing if you keep releasing vids at a steady pace like you have been recently. Only thing I kinda disagree with is you saying the LS aspect is our stranglehold, I think it is winterglass. I think 1 or both of those will be nerfed again and well be left with the shit firebolt build or CL- well behind the other classes again.
Great review! 100% less damage? What's not to love? :D We'll need to see the final list of buffs and nerfs, but if Familiar isn't going to be a thing, and the top builds are the same as last time, Season 6 may be the right time to take a break from Sorc and mess around with the new Spiritborn.
yeah idk I think i need to clickbait and make shittier content. Or only play top meta and trust fund swipe or streamer privilege my way to BIS. tbf I do get gifted gear from time to time. Just not that often
They need more strong builds though. I think there's a strong chance that Splintering gets toned down. It's just way too strong with the changes to how much crit damage you can have. There's also a strong chance Azurewrath is bugged. Adjustments to these two things kills Sorc being S tier again.
The answer certainly is not nerfing Lightning Spear. The other builds need to be buffed significantly. Sorc had two viable pit pushing builds in S5 (Spear and Fire Bolt), and really only one viable T8 Horde build (Spear). Sure, a few builds can beat T8 hordes, but they're not getting 1400 points (can't remember the exact term now) by the end to spend on the chests or wrecking the bosses. Fireball, Spark, Ice Shards, Meteor, and Hydra need to have their day. All the builds should get a chance, truthfully. But again, nerfing Spear, Orb, or Firebolt is not the answer. If Rogue and Barb can have multiple viable S Tier builds (up to 5 in some seasons) almost every season, Sorc should be allowed as well. The same goes for Necro and Druid.
@@Yxalitis Rogue has 2 builds just as OP. Druid and Necro have 2 builds that nuke bosses 100% faster than Spear. Nerfing Spear is not the answer. Buffing parts of other builds is the answer.
It is always a smart idea to buff ALL other specs to the lvl of one outlier (be it within a class or within all classes). We are already in the billions territory after only 14 month AND after a so called "squish". Maybe look at what happened in D3 with the % numbers. It is warrented to nerf the few outliers to a healthy point, which will NOT take the fun out of them, they will play the same, but just on the same level as the other builds. I get that people are afraid that their beloved build gets nuked, like what happened to HotA or BL in S2, but BL is now on par with most other Sorc specs.
I think they have to make a choice again. Give other builds uncapped scaling like splintering, and let us spec into power. Or they make everything bland and remove all uncapped scaling in the game. They are half in half out: capping things randomly and leaving other things uncapped resulting in imbalance between classes and within
Oh, didnt even think how this new glyph system would impact pit acessibility. They really need more tiers with those fail chances. But im glad to hear how balanced pit feels now, I loved greater rifts but pit is just not there on live (unfortunately im a ps5 player and cant play ptr)
If nothing changes either play frozen orb hybrid or pure spear forsure. Everything else felt underwhelming besides Chain Lightning, but that was just abusing frostburns and Azurewrath that were bugged and didn’t get stat squished
Are you sure you will get all of those paragon points at level 60 or did you just get them because that was how many you already had from your other characters, since paragon points are account wide now?
Would have been nice to see the meta get changed up a bit. Still underwhelmed by non-impactful uniques like Oculus, Lam Essen, and Lycander. But can't complain too much since we at least have one meta-competitive build (arguably the best). Things could still really shake up with the seasonal mechanic buff, but in all likelihood it'll just be another buff for lightning spear.
I saw that clear. Took 14 minutes. Unless I saw the wrong one. I still think esadoras is terrible and I’ve never had good success with it. Destroy is a strong word if we are talking about the same video. Baskenator is a very good player and theorycrafter, I must say. Not trying to bash him whatsoever. Certain items are just limited.
Thanks for the video and update, but I'm a little bored with the build variety at the top end. It's basically all the same "some enchantments or similar abilities like chain lightning" fly out. Where are closed range builds like arc lash or ball lightning(I know you mention it a tear but it’s rather a meme for endgame, a lot balls no damage)? Where are builds for ice shard? Or meteor? Why are fire builds great for leveling, but just so bad in the endgame? Unless you have BiS gear. Also, all high-end builds are now with BiS gear. Yes, it's just a test phase. But it kind of is. It feels like Season 5 all over again? I don't want a nerf, I just want more valid and really different playstyles with my Sorc. And since I wouldn't call myself a hardcore creator-level player, I put at least 40-70 hours of my time into the first weak phase of each season. So I definitely need an endgame build to find players and be a valid part of boss runs. So when I basically only have 2-3 options that all play the same and have for 1 1/2 seasons. So that feels kind of off. I know, you just make the conclusion and do your best to make these builds fly. It’s more a critic towards the state of the class which isn’t weak but just feels like same old same old now.
I agree with everything you said. It’s just due to whether a build has uncapped or capped scaling. Splintering is our only source of true uncapped scaling and it scales hard
Have you tested the Charged bolt build? There is a new aspect for this build, I did my own test and it was not really promising :( wonder if the result would be different if properly built
What do you think is the best build in absolute rags with no uniques? Blasted with my season 5 character port on PTR, but then doing a fresh run and hitting torment 2 with 0 uniques and dogshit gear you cant even master work much really screws your potential. Torment 1 bosses also dropping one single unique doesnt help farming for a winterglass, so the top builds are really out of the picture. I'm hoping either the new game modes give a lot of gear or the season journey gives some really good uniques, because the content we got on the PTR did not drop much. Season 5 port character pretty much blasted straight through to torment 4, season 6/expansion PTR character could not hang on torment 2 or 3
with zero uniques whatsoever? Blizzard. With one unique? Frozen orb with winterglass. As an absolute fresh dogshit character with 2 uniques? Fireball with endless rage and illuminators
i was a sorc main since launch, but they added so little, build creating took a heavy hit with the reworked paragon, it just feels shallow now. I cant bring myself maining sorc in s6, when i see how much synergy SB is getting. Sorc(and other classes) seriously needs overhauls, and not just make some enchants a bit better but still undesirable to pick. I provided them with a very large list on enchant ideas, cause thats imo still the largest issue sorc has, not providing enough options. Its sad to say this, but for me sorc is the most bland class right now, its just piano everywhere.
So far everything on the PTR is broken, every class can basically speedfarm pit 100, they are definitely going to cut down the power of glyphs(and probably other things) enormously. The whole idea behind these changes was to make torment 1 easily accessible and pushing to t4 and pit 65+ a challenge. Though in saying that it probably is a challenge for 90% of players that aren't playing hours and hours every day like streamers.
Torment 1 and 2 are going to see a lot of usage for seasonal players as they grind out their first few paragon boards. Torment 4 won't feel good until the around paragon 160 to 200. At least that is my guess. On PTR everyone starting with 225 paragon points and level 21 glyphs makes the power jump pretty quick when players hit 60. Would have been great to be able to create a pseudo seasonal character on PTR so we could actually test out the progression. That's all my guess anyway. We will find out in less than a month!
From the looks of it, you need to have absolute GG hear to clear pit in this fashion. Upgrading glyphs to 100 and paragon to 300 “should” take much longer. Getting perfect ancestral “should” take much longer. My issue with this easy of a clear is that…what’s next? What’s the challenge? Citadel? Undercity? Mephisto? If everything is too easy, you’ll get bored sooner. Luckily this gear is GG, and I mean, you should be able to clear it I guess. I kinda like the idea of pit 200 being impossible, but we’ll see o suppose.
Pit 200 in PRT season 4 is easy as a cake, but on live it's impossible. I believe it would be the case here for pit 100. Also, this season will require much more grind to reach gg gear. The drop rate for ancestral gear is very very low now, though it might be changed. I think by the time you found all these gear and clear high pit, you would already feel you're complete with the character
