I still remember when this happened. Such a sad story! What's creepy is the lyrics from the theme song My Sister Sam "Everything starts like a knock at the door You don't know what it is but you know who it's for"
Rebecca's parents still live. Over 30 + years without experiencing their child, their possible grandchildren, years of moments lost. Rebecca herself, lost everything. You tell this story with such respect Sir. Thank you
@@sploofygaming5446 Rebecca's mom died on what would have been Rebecca's 55th birthday
I remember reading somewhere that after Bardo was incarcerated, he wrote a letter at some point to Mark David Chapman and Chapman said Bardo’s letter was “one of the most disturbing he’d ever read” and he never wrote back. Bardo must be a special kind of crazy if he’s even making the guy who shot John Lennon nervous.
The psycho killer is enjoying himself while recounting his killing of Rebecca, Very bizarre scene. The "detective" who gave Rebecca's home address to the killer, has her blood in his hands too. She made a terrible mistake coming outside to talk with that psychopath. It was horrific how he killed her, she was a total stranger, but he was obsessed with her. That man is pure evil and never should be in the streets again.
She was expecting a courier to drop off the script for The Godfather movie, which she had a screen test for the part of Maria. Thinking that’s why she went down to this monster twice 😢
Robert Bar do was almost stabbed to death in prison. I'm sure he's not enjoying himself now. Hardly anyone remembers him. He's forgotten.
@@vigo894 he's enjoying his fantasies of Rebecca...that's why psychopaths do, they relive their fantasies.
The opening credits of My Sister Sam is just so nostalgic. The thing that really bugs me about this case is that there were so many opportunities to avoid this tragedy. It seems to be the same with all these stalker related killings. The guy could have been stopped so many times...
I remember it so well. I liked her and thought she stood out as an actress. Such a shock. Everyone loved her. Her parents buried their only child.
Afterwards that's easy to say, but because humans don't expect to meet nutcases, like it should be, you don't get allarmed that easely.
She was a beautiful young lady she was born the same year I was born and she did not deserve to die the way she did the horrible guy that did this horrible act should have gotten the death penalty
@@seanwilliams258 sadly people have bleeding hearts for murderers, sometimes more so for them than the victims and their families.
Just feel so bad that a young girl who was really just beginning to shine and take off towards her potential died this way.. im glad laws changed, it amazes me that a private investigator would just agree to hand over information like that!! Thanks for another fascinating visit to Hollywood history, your videos are always respectful, and tastefully done!! 🙏🏽🎃❤️🔥
Laws changed for Celebrities. Anyone else your at the Mercy of Public Information. Your Name or License plate number is all it takes for someone to get your information everywhere else. Older Men I use to work with would ask me out and I would look up their License plate to see if they were lying about not being married. Sure enough all would come back to registered to a couple or an address, then the taxes of the address would be to a couple. Smh Public Data should be for police
Nowadays just Google the person full names, you find out everything. Which is stupid!
I find it hard to believe the PI could have talked to that guy and not have seen that something was off. He probably didn't think it would go that far but he had to know he was getting paid to tell this guy where he could go harass her and didn't care.
Hard to believe she lost her life that way. If she had lived, she would be my age at 54.
She was waiting on the delivery of the script of The Godfather 3. That's why she kept coming down to answer the door. She was up for the role of Mary Corleone, which eventually went to Winona Ryder, who dropped out and was replaced by Sofia Coppola. She had so much promise.
There is a UA-cam short when you search on UA-cam the godfather part 3
I was in LA a month after this happened and inadvertently passed by her house and there was still loose crime scene tape twisted on the outside shrubbery. I didn’t know it had happened until the friend I was visiting told me. We were exactly the same age and I loved her and the show. I was stunned.
I never even knew who she was, never heard of the show. But because of you, you're keeping her memory alive. Good work my friend :)
I remember this very clearly. It always stuck with me i was in high school and it just was one of the events that i could understand it could happen to anyone. RIP REBECCA . A tragedy that shouldn't have happened. Thanks Michael always done with respect!🕸🦇🕷👻🎃
Such a sad and tragic case. I'm very familiar with it. Stalkers are no joke. You guys covered this tactfully and with the grace you always show. 🕊️❤️🙏

I had a stalker for years. It isnt fun. Still afraid to give my phone number out
@@jamesmacaw3865yes because boy are the only ones who are stalkers.
Women do it to if not way more than man the difference is when a woman does it it’s considered cool and cute.
I remember growing up this was mine and my mom’s favorite show to watch together. I remember coming home from school one day and my mom was crying. I asked her what was wrong. She sat me down and told me what happened to Rebecca. I remember feeling like I just lost a big sister. I was devastated.
The way the killer is remembering and describing the scene was… disturbing.
I know, he remembered step by step also, even though it was over 30 years ago. I couldn't remember that well what I had done in 5 years prior. Yes, it's disturbing.
Wow, that's Marcia Clark at the trial. Seeing him so happy and excited to have seen her, not acknowledging that she's gone is freaky. Such a tragic situation that changed so much, but there's still so much that is unchanged. Stalkers still get away with so much.
Because men create laws and most laws are not created to protect women. MeToo was a distraction and nothing has really changed since. Women need to protest for stricter laws and birth control for men (amongst other things).
Nothing can be done about stalkers unless they do something. Sad, but true.
Some people *really* let television delude them!
Many people who watched *Gilligan's Island* were utterly convinced that it was real-even though they saw opening and closing credits and commercial bumpers!
(Seriously)
Hickam Air Force Base, Pearl Harbor, and Schofield Barracks in Hawaii often receive calls reporting "7 Americans stranded on desert isle, please rescue them!"
🥴
I enjoy listening to you. Your pauses are well timed, no 'ums' or 'ers', no extra talk....and a nice, calming voice. Michael you're easily one of the better narrators.
Interesting note: When Bardo was arrested in Tucson, the arresting officer was Peter Ronstadt, brother of singer Linda Ronstadt.
Wow that is interesting! I didn't know Linda Ronstadt had a brother or that he was a cop!
That was really interesting, well put together thank you!
Hello to the Black bird was cool too!🕊
OMG!! 😱 Didn't know that!!! Maybe that's why, he wasn't charged for the things he did...!!!!
But, I'm so happy Bardo got LIFE!!! That's so True!! Her Death is the Only reason there's Stalker Laws!!! It's a crying 😭 shame!!!
That poor girl, alot of missed opportunities here to stop a psycho like Bardo. Such a senseless tragic loss of a young & upcoming actress. Rip Rebecca 😢
I remember this show and how sad it was when this happened. It’s so hard to believe that there was ever a time when getting the addresses of celebrities was so easy. I think I’ve read that other people actually advised Rebecca that she should live somewhere with better security, but I don’t think she saw herself as this huge star; she was down to earth in that way. Also, I’ve read that Pam Dauber was devastated by her death and never really got over it. The only bright spot in this whole thing is that her murderer won’t ever be able to hurt anyone else in this way.
Yes and another good thing was anti-stalking laws, also threat management became a part of law enforcement.
There’s a reason a lot of celebrities live in condos now. We had a few professional ball players in a condo my company managed, and dealt with a couple scary situations with female stalkers. If our front desk wasn’t there to fend that off, there’s no telling what could have happened.
Thank you for keeping these actors/actresses remembered, and done so respectfully and truthfully. 🙏 Stay well, GLC. Hi Jessica! Peace.
Long time viewer, first time commenting on a video. Love all the work you put into these videos! I have watched some a few times over. Keep up the great work! Happy Halloween 🎃 👻
Once again you knock it out of the park with your storytelling and Hollywood movie history. 🎥
She's buried in Portland Oregon, not Seattle. I was going to UCLA at the time when this happened, it was (and still is) such a creepy and sad story. Well done.

Poor girl, R I P Rebecca Schaefer🌺 Much love to the Grimmcollective- Michael n Jessica. Always great videos!♥️😎🖤👍
I remember this case. Amazing how you produce these videos with these details.
Good morning. Love your channel and videos. Rebecca is actually buried in Portland Oregon. She’s buried at the Ahavai Sholom Cemetery. Have a great day.
She was adorable and talented. It's sad that her open and trusting nature mad her vulnerable.
When you become popular... You become the target. It's the cost to pay enjoying the fame. Need to keep out strangers. No wonder famous people never entertain stranger fans, regardless of their motives.
That private investigator is quite creepy himself 🥴 👿 Happy Halloween 👽
literally anyone can become a private investigator, Ive known total goofs who did drugs who were also pi's. It's kind of a sham, you just pay some money basically and then get the license.
So sad.. so crazy how a moment of bad luck or being in the wrong place or around the wrong person can end your existence forever.
She was such a talented beautiful young lady. It's a shame that she passed away so young. I'm glad they caught the guy that did it.
I once heard she was waiting for the script for Godfather 3 to be delivered which was why she answered and oh man she would’ve made that movie so much better over Sofia Coppola!
This is the first video I have viewed from many that just left me deep in thought. Rebecca Schaeffer at the age of 21 in 1989. She was looking at a long spell of a career which we will now never know how it developed. Her murder just seemed to act out his crime as if it was a fantasy to him. This guy is just beyond believe. Sadly to say I was just 18/19 when her life was ended by a demented fan. This really saddens myself. R.I.P. Rebecca, may god bless your soul.
Sorry, but I'm not familiar with this sad story (born in '87 & I live in Australia), so I appreciate you doing this video as she does deserve to be remembered. RIP.
I wish people would realize that celebrities are just people who act for a living. Keith Richards said once that when he became famous, he couldn't walk down the street anymore without people bothering him. He turned to heroin to cope. After reading that, I decided to NEVER ask for an autograph again and just treat them like I treat anyone else.
Rebecca is not buried in Seattle. She’s buried in Portland Oregon
RIP. Rebecca was so beautiful and talented..the theme song is kinda eerie given how she passed.
I remember this happening. What a heartbreaking situation for such a sweet and kind young lady.
This was so devastatingly sad. I used to watch this show. I’ve always wondered why so many murders take place in July? I’ve always wondered that
As a former First Responder for 13 years in LA, deadly violence, road rage spikes between late June til early September in the USA/Canada, then again from early December to early January. Just check out statistics available online or your public library. Those 3 months stress out police, sheriffs, park rangers, ambulance units, fire departments worldwide, especially early December til early January. Thanks for asking that Sandra.
Thank you so much Michael an Jessica for another great video.
Rebecca Schaeffer was a superstar in the making on television and it all ended at the hands of a bad man. Anyone alive back then remembers how popular Rebecca had become and was the darling of the sitcoms. It was unfortunate that she never got to see where her talent would take her but she did do a lot in the little time she had. Rest In Peace, Rebecca.
Another great, heartfelt video from you, Michael!
Sadly, Rebecca's young age, and accompanied naiveté, is what caused this tragedy to occur. An older, more experienced celebrity would never answer the door blindly like that. Very tragic indeed. She had so much going for her.
She was expecting a script to be delivered. That’s why she went to the door, but yes, I’d want to make sure I knew for sure who was there before I’d go to the door. I’ve been stalked and it made me paranoid. I almost never answer my door anymore. My own family has to text or call to let me know when they’re outside my door!
@@willfade7994 Yep, I never answer the door either. Let them knock. It's my door, and if I don't want to answer it, that's my choice.
@@centuryrox It was not her young age and naïveté that caused this tragedy. A sociopath murderer caused this tragedy.
Unfortunately, Rebecca's intercom was broken.
She went downstairs to answer the door, so that he would stop buzzing her intercom.
Fascinating sad and ultimately tragic well done for another brilliant episode. Love your stuff guys
Such a sad, tragic story. I didn’t know any of this and I was quite moved by your telling of it, thanks.
@@adamwebbartistwriterwebb7760 That’s exactly what was going though my mind. Amen to that, Adam, I’m with you all the way.
This guy was really off balance. I think the private detective should have been found as an accessory to this crime. There is no way I believe he talked with Bardo and honestly didn’t realize he was unstable.
Mental illness wasn’t as main stream back than, it was given literally no attention like today.
Such a sad ending to her life when it was just beginning.I remember this when it actually happened in 89’.Yesterday I painted suites right next to the actual suite from where the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay massacre shooting happened 4 years ago .Creepy vibe in that hallway and suite next door.
I was born 7 years after Rebecca's death but sadly, Christina Grimme was the next female to get killed by her stalker so not much has changed, we know that this world is full of crazy people.
I was born the same year she died. Its crazy thinking about how advanced the world become. If it was the movies coming back from death, she would be mind boggled.
Well done as usual friend...forgot all about Rebecca , she was just getting started and what a beautiful young woman! Sad ...
You do such a tremendous job of conveying all the pertinent information. Another great video!
I love your videos. When I saw the crow I remembered something about crows. Crows show up to let you know that there are spiritual shifts happening around you and remind you to pay attention to the spiritual messages that are sent to guide you. They represent transformation, cycles, psychic tools, and insight into unseen realms. I feel that somehow Rebecca was there when you were making the video.
I thought the same thing! It took me a day or so of thinking about it to post but while I was watching the video I got chills as soon as I saw it! I was just skimming the comments to see if I was the only one that noticed! Glad I’m not!
Good video. I had no idea that she died that way. There needs to be better privacy laws in general for all people (not just celebrities) to prevent discovery of home addresses and contact information.
It is such a shame that it takes a tragedy like this to happen before laws are changed. This young woman had her whole life ahead of her a plus had started a very successful career and was cut short by her senseless murder... SAD!!!😢
Love all your videos, last few have been bangers. Great job.
Rebecca was my first -and only, teenage crush. She just had that classic ‘80s style: the hair. The clothes. A total bodacious babe!
I vaguely recall her from Class Struggle which I went out on a date to see the week it opened, oy vey, what a date movie that was! LOL! But I haven't seen the movie in decades.
I don't recall that TV show at all.
Hey guys. I'd never heard about this case until I watched this. It was very chilling especially the way the killer just comes across so cold and it doesn't appear he shows any remorse for his unspeakable actions. Absolutely tragic what happened. Amazing how you do these videos and always so respectful too. Stay safe 🖤👽👻🎃
I remember looking up to her she was so vibrant and beautiful she was a few years older than me at the time. But I was in shock and so sad that something like this could happen to young woman like her.
It’s chilling how he describes in detail his actions and her final moments. Just disheartening.
This is a very tragic story indeed, RIP Rebecca. Even more concerning is how our society since then had continue to go downhill, here and around the world with hate, war and with people in political offices/leaders not being held accountable for their actions etc. I hope in the future it will change for the best, but something tells me we will have to hit rock bottom before it does. Again, thank you for sharing your thoughts/video about this tragic event.
Just this morning my lady and I were watching TV about Florida, spring break ... growing up everyone loved spring break. Looked forward to it etc..... NOW, ANIMALS run the show. Spring break has become a scum zoo animal sewer with a bunch of shootouts every night. I agree with you. Every time we turn on the news Animals killing, raping, destroying once beautiful neighborhoods. I live in a once great neighborhood. My lady and I sit outside enjoying the backyard for 9 years. All of a sudden. Animals start showing up, moving in like ants on food. Blasting garbage music so loud the police are called every weekend. Music we cant even understand what the f**k they are saying at all. Our Town now is ruined. No one can say anything about it. You are correct. 100% POINT OF NO RETURN. No one. No politician, political party, sports star, entertainer etc ... will change it. The ANIMALS HAVE 100% taken over with dirt, death and scum and our country is completely ruined.
We're ruled by evil and most people don't seem able to see them. So even when we hit rock bottom we still won't shake them off. Just a bunch of oligarchs and wannabe commissars.
Another great video Michael, there is nothing we can do if someone wants to do us harm. Rebecca had her whole life ahead of her but was not to be. Thanks again for how you tell the stories and the care you take in giving them respect.
I went to a taping of “My Sister Sam” back in the day - Rebecca was a joy to watch. She died about 6 mos after.

I remember when this happened. So sad. Great video!!!✌💜👻
It took me a couple of days to watch this one, for personal reasons. I really enjoyed My Sister Sam back then. I started watching it because of Pam Dawber, from Mork and Mindy, but Rebecca was the reason I kept watching - she was pretty, talented, charismatic, funny, and very charming. When this happened, it was the first time I had experienced the murder of celebrity who captivated me, and it really affected me deeply. I was so pissed that this guy was not only able to gain access to her, but to be given vital information to track her down. Even now watching his confession some 30+ years later I feel angry that he committed such a heinous act and was helped along the way. She had such a bright future and this nutjob took it all away in seconds. RIP Rebecca.
I feel the same way. Rebecca was a standout. She was so good that I wondered what she had acted in before and was surprised to find out how new she was to acting. Then this horrible thing happened. The whole cast adored her. Oh, what might have been 😔
She was about to audition for the role of Michael's daughter in "The Godfather Part III". Who knows if she would have gotten it or if that audition would have led to other work for her. One of the great "what if's" in Hollywood history.
Great work brother Michael Thanks . God Bless

you can tell this man was mentally unstable from him recounting what happened. His movements his voice. Really wish Rebecca wouldn't have come out again that second time...wish it would have clicked it was a bit weird and not open that door. wish she would have gone back to her apartment and called the cops. Such a tragedy that shouldn't have happened.
She came out because she was expecting a script delivery. I believe it was for a Godfather movie, and her intercom wasn’t working.
@@rachelraquel758 The first time, maybe yes. The second time he came back, she recognized him as being him and should have just went and called the police.

I never knew about this case before. Thank you for an interesting and respectful production on what happened to Rebecca. Of course that private eye would say in court that he thought Bardo was of sound mind. He knew otherwise he might have been culpable to sone extent. Watching Bardo's account of the murder is chilling: He seems to enjoy retelling with a degree of satisfaction.
Not to mention giving someones private information for the almighty dollar. No common sense jerk.
I live on Houston and there has been SEVERAL murders due to private investigation firms giving out information. Now Investigation firms must allow for a "Cool down period" of 24 hours.
In July 2002, the mother of two made headlines when she hit her 44-year-old husband David with her silver Mercedes-Benz and ran over him three times before stopping directly on top of his body.
Clara had tracked her husband of 10 years and his mistress, Gail Bridges, to the Nassau Bay Hilton. She then ran him over outside the hotel. David’s daughter from a previous marriage, Lindsey Nicole Harris, who was in the car at the time of the killing, testified against her stepmother in the trial. In court proceedings, it was revealed that David had admitted to his affair even before Clara received a telephone tip that he and Bridges would be meeting that night at the hotel. On the day of David’s death, Clara hired the private investigative firm, Blue Moon Investigations, to follow her husband. Blue Moon surveillance crew captured David’s murder on videotape, which was used as evidence.
I got married at that exact Hilton a few days before. INSANITY.
Most private eyes are sleazoid ex cops wbo couldn't even hack being a cop. They lie just like all the other piggies. part of the biz.
Working as I private eye years ago , our company always wanted to know why a person was looking for someone. If we did not like the answer , we did not take the case .
