Dear nice to see your quote from Saint Paul and to have the opportunity to think and comment. I don't think Epictetus' philosophy as a whole is fair to be condemned as "wisdom of this world". It had elements that lead to the other Wisdom, not of this world. Given the time he lived and the similarities of many of his quotes with even Christian Orthodox Saint Fathers quotes and advices, Epictetus philosophy can be characterized as really remarkable. The strong desire of men like him to find the Truth and meaning of this life in the times they lived, cultivated, prepared and led the Greeks of the following generations to accept strongly in their hearts the ultimate Wisdom and Word of God, Our Lord Jesus Christ up to this day and glorify Him throughout the centuries up to this day with many Saints, as He predicted and said when they asked to meet Him, they asked Fillip because it was a Greek and familiar name, then Fillip asked Andrew who was closer to the Lord, and then both of them asked Our Lord Jesus to meet them and He said something that is misinterpreted by many out of ignorance, incorrect translation from the Greek original New Testament or jealousy. But the proofs are there in history and present, from the Byzantine period till this day with all the Greek Saints unceasingly... produced and even in the simple fact that He allowed all His major Holy Sites of His earthly life to be in Greek hands (Greek Patriarchate of Jerusalem) against all desires, odds and... wisdom of this world:). So, as Greeks we are proud about our ancestors like Epictetus but do not absolutify his philosophy or wisdom, given the revelation of the ultimate Wisdom that the majority of us have accepted in Christ throughout the centuries and up to this day.
