    @Bill Tumas I finally had the perfect weekend to work on my car and install these springs. Your video was very educative and help me out a lot, THANKS!!! The job was completed with minor issues so for those 1st timers like me, please plan well and consider a few additional precautions. Rear springs on my car took me about 1 hour using a floor jack and stands, I actually felt it was easier than doing it overhead. I replaced the OEM panhard bar with an adjustable BMR, if you are doing this please bolt on the driver side first, you will need to hammer it in since the bushing is thicker. On the front end, the 2013-2014 have different spindle to strut bolts (no flag washers) be careful bolts won't turn with an impact wrench, after you take the nut out proceed hammering the bolt out. After pulling the strut out, I couldn't easily remove the nut on top of the strut mounting plate, the strut shaft was turning so I used Locking pliers to help my impact wrench. Also, I panic when I saw all the ball bearings from the mounting plate so I got a pair of new ones (cheap Monroes strutmates) so have a pair ready just in case!! Finally, I realized I switched the struts from one side to another just when I was putting pack the brake house mounting plate ....Good thing is that apparently they are exactly the same so it doesn't matter driver or passenger side.....Ok, guys with Bill's video and these additional tips go ahead and turn some wrenches!! Thanks.

    Yes it will shift to the side when lowering the car. It's not a huge amount but we will correct it in the future with an adjustable pan hard bar

    Holy mother of car parts !! 6 hours in today 3 wheels done one left for tomorrow,my tip to everyone doing this :use a torque gun otherwise you're just not taking the strut top off,the rear took 2 hours almost the front is a paaain!!!

    • @Rangerfull3
      @Rangerfull3 9 років тому

      Why is the front so hard? We did the rear so only my rear is lowered haha, it took us about 2 hours

    • @snowman2834
      @snowman2834 9 років тому +1

      Johnny Bravo rear is real easy,it took me 1 hour i believe for both,the front you have to support the control arm to get the sway bar out cause when the wheel is hanging is under pressure and you don't get it out,and then the top bolt on the strut is very deep and i could not reach it,you have to hold the core with one hand and work the nut with the other which is almost impossible ,i used a torque gun,that;s why i had to leave it for the next day,i could not take the top strut bolt off with wrenches .good luck,with all the tools available you should do about 1.5 hours per side.

    The strut is designed to work with the stock springs travel, lower springs will shorten that distance. In many cases this will cause the strut to wear out a little faster but it will not make a huge difference.

  • @MikhailMolotov
    @MikhailMolotov 10 років тому +4

    Is there a specified torque needed for all the other bolts and nuts connecting the struts? You only mentioned to torque down the wheels.

  • @Zerogivengarage
    @Zerogivengarage 10 років тому +2

    The factory mounts can be used but you will most likely need a set of camber bolts to realign within spec if you are going with the sportline springs.

    • @EMTBLAKELY
      @EMTBLAKELY 10 років тому +1

      hey man .are those 20s ? and if they are do you get any tire rub with the sportline springs

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 років тому +1

      EMTBLAKELY Those are the factory 19's but the car has 20's on it now with no issues

    • @EMTBLAKELY
      @EMTBLAKELY 10 років тому +1

      oh . okay. any regrets going with that ride height? I saw on another video that required a camber plate or so on top of the strut tower. is that necessary? did you need to get it aligned as well afterwords? sorry for all the questions but you seem to know your stuff and have already traveled down the road im about to go down.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 років тому +3

      EMTBLAKELY I would recommend going with a true set of caster/camber plates as well as an adjustable panhard bar at this height. I would also plan on new shocks and struts since this ride height it not optimal for the stock parts.

      For a one inch drop you should be ok with just camber bolts up front. Yes you should use an adjustable panhard bar to center the axle. Torque specs are readily available online.

    Would have been nice to see before and after shots but nice video none the less. Also, isn't a wheel alignment necessary? I have also seen people post that a adjustable panhard bar is highly recommended for the rear.

    • @Zerogivengarage
      @Zerogivengarage 10 років тому

      I always suggest getting the alignment checked when you lower your car. The further down you lower it the more offset the rear suspension gets so an adjustable panhard is a good idea. We will be covering this in a future video.

      +Bill Tumas hey Bill what springs would you use on a 2013 GT convertible? mild drop as my car is a daily driver with pretty crappy roads in Canada. Steeda sport for convertibles, steeda ultralites, eibach pro? any other ones i havent mentioned maybe better?

    Camera man needs to keep up with the mechanic. Terrible shots to show the look at the end.

      We did not install camber bolts because we were planning on installing caster camber plates.

    Do you crave maximum street performance with the lowest possible drop for your #Mustang?
    Eibach's Sportline Coil Spring Set can give you this, and with Bill's instructions in our recent install video, you can install them yourself!

      +CJ Pony Parts I own a 2012 mustang gt (auto). I'm getting a whipple installed. Should be getting 600hp to the wheels. I'm 100% stock at the moment. Do you recommend the pro kit or the sport line? I was just going to get the kit that includes front and rear sway bars. Thanks.
