I've had mine for about 6 weeks now, with the positive display (the backlight works much better on this one). I actually find myself staring at the 10-second animation a lot! At first I was skeptical about how comfortable the band would be, but after the first wear, it feels just fine on my 7" wrist. I know it won't be as rugged as a G-Shock, but it works for me and adds to my collection! Great video as always!!!
My second day with this..... no its not a G Shock, but once you get past that it's a little lovely..... for the price... I have a lot of casios included GShock..... but I really like this :)
I got a negative display one. And as a Casio fan, most people don't care about 'if the watch is going to stand extreme shocks and water and mud and all that stuff'. 90% casio lovers probably don't do these kind of extreme jobs. Most are the collectors and collectors in my opinion buys watches based on their looks and antiquity 😊(at keast casio collectors) my thoughts
The Vibration Alarm ones are also a decent G-Shock killer. 100M WR, G-Shock fixed lip strap, protected screen, double white LED with a big button up front, and the size of a standard round G, for only about $25.
Casio has lots of great options for cheap watches that are durable enough for kids, but don't cost as much as a G-Shock. Also, G-Shocks are huge on kid arms. All of the watches in the video are solid choices, depending on one's priorities. Love the Beetlejuice notebook, too.
@@chriscon8463 in all honesty, it is probably one of the most rugged non G-Shock casios. but it is also sorta uncomfortable over long periods wearing it, and it's got a face only a mother could love.
I’m a little late to this video but my favorite pseudo-G is actually the DW 291 which looks like a budget king of G, has a lot of functions, and also sports a 200 m water resistance and what they call a heavy duty build. Perhaps the most welcome feature is the brightest amber illumination I have seen on a cheap Casio.
Amazing video as usual. My suggestion for a budget Casio apart from the ones in this video would be Casio DW-291HX. It has pretty much everything you need- 10 year battery, 200M water resistance instead of 100M, World timer and the standard alarm, stopwatch and timer. It is a rugged watch, looks kinda like a G-SHOCK and it has 2 Amber led lights.
Casios cheaper line of watches are brilliant in many cases. I’ve had the WS210H for years and the features on it are nuts all for around £25 or something. Moon phase. Tide graph that changes between spring and neap tides without finding out the longitude and latitude of where you are, world time solar… and all the other features you know and love from Casio.
Superb and thorough review! I have a Casio Worldtimer, but no G-Shock yet. While this is a cool watch; it will not displace a G-Shock from the "to acquire list". Thanks for such great content!
Great review, i bought 2 of them when they first came out. At first I was really keen, mainly due to the cool graphic display. I didn't like the strap much so swapped it for the stainless steel bracelet from a Casio AE-1200WH, it goes quite nicely with the stainless steel case cover. I also removed the black lettering and realised that the exposed metal is a slightly yellow colour, (base metal not stainless steel?) Also the cover itself is only fixed to the plastic case with double sided sticky tape so not sure how long it'll be before it falls off. Agreed the light is a bit of a let down having only one LED unlike the AE-1200👍
I’ve had mine 6 weeks. It looks good but I accept everything else you said about it. If I only had £30 to spend I think I would get one of the AE1200 world time watches.
We had two boxes of Seiko’s, seventy-five Timex’s, five Tag Heuer chronographs a bag half full of Bulova’s and a whole galaxy of multi-colored Casios, Fossils, Citizens…and also a Luminox a Rolex a case of Jack Mason’s a Zeppelin and two dozen Omega’s. Not that we needed all that for the collection but once you get locked into a serious watch collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can.
I must say, your mention of the TRT-110H-2AVCF 0 was a great point. I wasn't familiar with this particular model, but considering the multitude of features it offers at such an unbeatable price, it's definitely a wise choice.🥰
Ive never even seen the last one and the one with the blue strap before but agreed both are far better than the featured one! And that light is just ridiculous
I have to say, you naiked it with the Mud Resist. Got mine a couple months ago at Wal-Mart for $33 for work and love it already. The light is great. I work outdoors, often in the dark and this little gem grabbed my attention because it reminds me of the many G-Shocks I've owned except somehow at a greatly reduced price point. Nice review.
I can tell you for sure, that just like all the Casio watches, and a lot of these type of watches in general, the ridges that are near the top of the watch band are there to keep the watch generally in place, basically, so it doesn't move around on your wrist too much where you have to keep adjusting it... so the ridges are there to simply keep the watch from moving and stay in place.... I really like the design of this watch and have just ordered it myself on eBay.... it will be a nice piece to my small Casio collection.... love, your channel and your videos, and very entertaining, keep up the good work 😊👍🏻
I got this watch last weekend, I really like its looks. I agree that its annoying that the time is not displayed when the stopwatch or count down timer is active. I wonder if it would be possible to put some bull bars to protect the "glass".
Spot on review my friend. It's also nice to know you continue with your passion despite your wife reactions, they are a highlight. You give me the passion to carry on as a collector.
Realistically, most of us are rarely going to put our watches in "only gshock need apply" territory - Casios, not just gshocks, are pretty tough watches that are sufficient 99% of the time. But you don't have to "hard use" a watch to scuff an unprotected resin glass, and if you do use it hard, that resin will be practically opaque in a few months time. Gshocks get away with using mineral glass instead of sapphire, and still retaining their reputation for toughness, because of the way the bezel protects the glass (although I think any gshock over $175 SHOULD come with sapphire anyway; there's no excuse for ANY watch at that price to NOT have the best glass option available, not when some manufacturers, including Casio, have offered sapphire on much cheaper watches). But as far as this watch goes, that unprotected resin glass alone takes it out of the running as a "gshock killer"; forget hard use, that's going fail rather quickly under moderate use.
Just viewed your video, great content as always, but here's something that a lot of people miss. The flat crystal (acrylic) is a lot easier to polish out when flat with the bezel. I have a AE1200 which has a similar inlay and having no corners to negotiate is gives an even finish when polished. Also I use a low grit metal polish called Peek, it is excellent for getting out the deeper marks and then use Polywatch for the final finish. The results are remarkable.
The Mudresist TRT-110H is watch to go. For runner up & I always suggest is the DW-291H. Is close to a G-shock and gives a lot for your money. Btw Your wife's comments just killed me😂😂😂.
Thank you for making this review. I would add this watch if it had a good glass and I prefer not protruding. All of that flies out the window when I look at Swatch. Could you please help me find a way to indicate which Swatch has a better glass instead of plastic acrylic? You would be a hero
I'll never understand why Casio decided to go back to the F-91W backlight for their budget watches. That makes no sense. If you're not going to do electroluminescence, at least put in a *better* backlight. It's not the 1980s anymore. If they can put a good light in the TRT-110H, they should be able to put it in this one.
I was going to complain about the poor back light but as I have a few F-91W's that have an illumination like a glow worm in a dull sweet wrapper I'll not mention that, oh I see I did. Oh well I have a few Casio and a few G-Shock watches and like you mention there is a clear difference in feel and weight due to the extra anti shock gubbins. I do quite like the watch and the price seems OK but as my Casio/G-Shock collection is expanding like un regulated styrofoam I'm applying the brakes.... ish, I'm tempted by the Mud Resist. Having those little animations to look at passes the time when waiting to be seen at the doctors or at the hospital. Both of which this week I got slightly bored of my beloved G-Shock 5610 (the old EL Backlight version) and started to count the floor tiles. Many thanks for sharing.
Casio = VALUE for money every time. Great watches. This one looks amazing and has loads of functions. Not a g shock though! But it’ll take a beating nevertheless. I wear a positive G Shock king with gold bullbars. That’s all the watch I will ever need. 👍🇬🇧
Casio resin straps are far more comfortable if worn loose. They last longer as well. The resin watch heads are generally much lighter than steel cases, and dont need to be worn so tightly. Wearing Casios more loosely than other watches does take some getting used to, but it actually is very comfortable if you can make that change.
I own and like the watch and the way it looks. I agree with the screen issue and hope it won't look too scratched too soon. I disagree with the light concern and think the way you filmed it doesn't do it justice (or maybe your watch is faulty??). I have no issues whatsoever seeing the time when using the light button in darker environments. The strap is a little uncomfortable indeed, but wearing the watch a little looser does it for me. I wonder if there is a fitting replacement strap.
Another good cheap G Shock alternative is the DW-291h, I've had one for years and I think I like it better. Unfortunately it's got that same ridge on the band. I also think it's more legible than the 110h as the day/date is larger.
I only have X amount of time in my life. I don't want to waste it wearing a cheap watch. It may be $33, but it isn't the cost that matters but the time and memories that is worth much more. Unless it's all you can afford, I'd rather just save the $33.
It's an ok watch but yeah, no G Shock killer. The light is terrible, what is Casio doing? One watch I think is really a good G Shock alterative is the W735H Vibration Alarm. It has an excellent back light as well.
Curiously, the DW5600 has a repeating countdown timer, while the otherwise better in every way GWM5610 does not. And I don't know why, it would be easy enough to implement.
When you set the repeat timer to 30secs in this one , how often does it beep each time it hits zero? I have a g-shock with a repeat timer, unfortunately it beeps to much for my needs.
"that big ridge" really should be the other way around so it doesn't dig into your wrist . The same Ridge is on several other casio watch bands . That's the main reason why I haven't bought any model with that nasty ridge pointing the wrong way .
Its a great watch its been out for a while now. I was going to buy it for the gym, but seemed a bit big for me. I desired to just replace the battery for my old gshock.
WELL THE NWD 110 IS A FANTASTIC WATCH AWESOME PRICE THIS IS CASIO I CALL THE WATCH G SHOCK NEPHEW I CAN NEVER STOP BUYING CASIO AWESOME VIDEO I LIKE IT
The G Shock killer to get is the WS-1400H-1BV weighs only 39 grams, I own a G Shock DW 5600e and weighs 53 grams, huge, huge difference, 26% less weight, when you put on the g shock feels like a chore to wear and when I wear the WS-1400H-1BV you feel like Superman, it's like walking on sand vs walking on the sidewalk 👌
I think you undersell the illuminator line. I've tried to destroy an old non-G Shock Casio. I finally succeeded, but it took a LOT of doing. I can guarantee you that the regular Casios are far from being fragile. In fact, I wonder just how much hardier a G Shock actually is, but they tend to be a little too pricey for me to buy one just to stomp, kick and drive over it.
Casio making competition for themselves! :D I'm diggin' that negative display one tho!.. verry noice indeed!. gonna have to possibly pick one of them bad bwoys up.
these g-shock killers will never be as durable as a g-shock and i'm not talking about abusing it. for occassional wear, they're OK, however, bands tend to break after 2-3 years of constant wear, crystal will be scratched and yes, you can buff it but that's extra maintenance. so imho this g-shock killer phenomenon is a moot point.
That watch is straight outta the late 90’s early naughties! Not a fan of the fluid shape with the strap my friend. I tend to steer clear from early millennium designs! However! It’s a great value Casio!
That watch is almost a replica of the new Gshock G-lide 100. Let me warn you all of something this guy hasnt found yet. If you wear the watch for a while you will notice scratches on the metal bezel and these scratches are really bad. I have small scratches that glint in the light when i turn my wrist side to side. Actually I am comparing this bezel to the G-lide and it is exact in every way. Even the cut out around the Light button is the same.
Casio should sue themselves
I love the suggestion.

Just this morning, half asleep, had a hell of a time pushing the light button on my 5600.
Still love it...
An 18-wheeler couldn't even kill a G-Shock. What the hell makes anybody think another watch could?
Ah what a shame, would've been a fantastic G-Shock alternative with a proper backlight.
Looks a nice watch especially as it had a bit of metal and a legible display for the over 60s
Casio making competition for themselves! :D
I'm diggin' that negative display one tho!.. verry noice indeed!. gonna have to possibly pick one of them bad bwoys up.
these g-shock killers will never be as durable as a g-shock and i'm not talking about abusing it. for occassional wear, they're OK, however, bands tend to break after 2-3 years of constant wear, crystal will be scratched and yes, you can buff it but that's extra maintenance. so imho this g-shock killer phenomenon is a moot point.
My only problem with my GW 5610 is small buttons. So if im planing on using stop watch or timer timex or Casio wv59 just for big comfy button.
Please review Casio W-201 for next honest opinion.
Thank you from Indonesia
That watch is straight outta the late 90’s early naughties! Not a fan of the fluid shape with the strap my friend. I tend to steer clear from early millennium designs! However! It’s a great value Casio!
I would get the w86, w800 (or jdm LWS-2200)
You filmed this on my birthday 😊
It’s one of the best then my friend
Loving the Beatlejuice book!
This doesn’t own the G- Lide because this guy knew he’d scratch the bezel hundred pound bezel !
Check out the w-737h for budget gshock likeness as well
It’s a beast!!
it looks like a dog, walks like a dog BUT it doesn't bark like a dog... then it's NOT a dog. This watch is the perfect underdog
