Switching to 4K did not help reduce the noise on S20+ vs iPhone. It was pretty much the same noise as 8K, With that being said, It was shot in a very dark condition and both did pretty fair job.
Also 8K is at 24fps*

@@XEETECHCARE Samsung releases a very big camera upgrade via software 2 months after the release of the phone with each flagship. At least from S9 and later so I believe this is their trend now. They see the problems and solve then afterwards.
Just to let you know that if you used S20 Ultra it will be A Big Win for Samsung

I agree that the iPhone microphone was sharper but it missed a lot of lows and mids of the audio that the samsung didn’t.

dude, more noise because you are in 8K mode, use 4K 30 like the iPhone then post those results.
IPhone also supports 4k60 on front and back

if 8K causes more drawback in quality so what’s the point putting that feature? i think 8K recording on S20 series is “just there” so they can write it on specs paper no matter how premature and limited it is (“big numbers” marketing). same like 100x zoom that has very poor quality. 50x is the max we can tolerate. just sayin

if you shoot in 8k it will decrease the low light performence (thats why the s20 had so much grain in video mode)
i m sure the s20 will smash the iphone if you shoot in 4k on both

Samsung needs to fix how the camera handles the sun light. iPhone does it better. but overall s20+ is really really good
That's true that's the only problem hi find need to fix the sunlight issue on Samsung phone but overall it kick iPhone but this year..
I don't understand why no reviewers are talking about this yet! It's the number one reason I want to hold off on buying the s20 (I've owned s7, s8, and s9 which is still my main). I was so tempted to get the iphone but I hate lightning and 60hz... ahhg so torn.
@@enlnh S20s have 100 Hz and the lighting will probably get fixed with a software update. Also, you can try turning off scene detection.
@@kovuBee s20 has 120hz. I was saying I hate that iPhone 11 only has 60hz. But yeah, hopefully something can be tweaked to make the lighting better.
@@enlnh Same here, the iPhone does a better job at handling Dynamic Sunlight range, this is something I've noticed heavily in the video as well, it's due to the higher HDR setting of OS optimization to handle Sunlight HDR, kudos!

@@humboldt8557 the photos it take looks better than iPhone to me and it just blows the ip in selfies.... And he only uses 8k video recording so the night time video recording were quite bad.

Funny how everybody was laughing at the square/triple camera bump on the Iphone and this huuuuuge rectangle that truly looks like a cooking top is now much appreciated. I dont like the small chin, colors/textures and the camera bump on S20 lineup... I think frosted glass and stainless steel in green are looking very rafined on the Iphone, proper design.

some things to note about the s20+ from my own personal experience
pros:
-zoom is pretty impressive on this, taken some videos at 10x zoom with 4k30 and my family/friends are always shocked at the zoom out at the end lol
-even in crummy lighting, you can bet that this thing is going to get a usable photo even without having to use the flash
-don't remember if mentioned in the video but this can also do slow motion on the front camera (or um slowfies eurgh) and they look alright
-ultrawide photos do a pretty good job of removing fisheye-looking distortion in post
-idk if you can do this on the iphone but the ultrawide panoramas are pretty nice
-super slow mo is kind of gimmicky but still gets some really cool looking shots sometimes
-as for the app, i like how you can customize it and hide away the features you don't use very often in the 'more' menu (there's no useless stuff taking up space like the 'square' mode that used to be on the iphone)
cons (i'm really nitpicking but):
-photos tend to look oversharpened (especially with night mode and when using telephoto/ultrawide)
-live focus (at least on the front camera) still not that great at masking out from the background (gcam is better in certain situations but still not perfect)
-live focus video is still terrible lol
-8k video is very jello-y and grainy and choppy and has little dynamic range, and you don't really get any more detail than just using 4k
-super steady mode is very impressive, but it's pretty grainy unless you're outdoors, and you lose quite a bit of detail; has a pretty limited use case imo
-4k60 (especially on the front camera) looks strangely soft (it sort of blobs together strands of hair so you lose all of the detail), it honestly looks less sharp than 1080p60
-both 1080p60 and 4k60 on the back only let you use the main sensor, so no ultrawide or telephoto video at 60fps (even the iphone 8 plus lets you do 4k60 on the telephoto like wtf)
-super slow mo looks like someone smeared vaseline on the camera lens, and still doesn't record any sound
-single take is pretty useless but ymmv
overall, it's a great camera and the extra features are nice to have if you're into that, but it does have a few caveats

Gcam on S20 plus should produce amazing results much better and natural skin tones.
You should do the test with ultra too
Samsung uses the same software for the Ultra. The Pixel 3a takes better photos for $350

lmao fanboy-ism much? I love samsung phones, but iPhone is clearly still better at video. Smoother frame pacing, better dynamic range, better color science, accurate exposure control, and low light performance is infinitely better (less grain, less blownout highlights, and smoother motion)

I really like the style of the S20.
It's basically very natural with a little contrast boost to make it look cinematic.
It reminds me a lot of the Pixel. The iPhone is always a but flat because of the aggressive HDR which was even worse on the XS but both phones have a style to them

I have to admit that I'm impressed with what the camera on the S20 plus can do. I'd reckon a camera software update might improve the low light capabilities of the camera to the point it allows as much or more light in like the 11 pro. 30x zoom is more than enough for me, 100x zoom is a bit overkill and you have to be super steady. Plus, the 30x zoom pics are still quite usable despite a slight sacrifice in image quality. If the quality of the 64 mp is similar to to 108 mp on the ultra then one probably won't need to consider the more expensive model.

Wow the quality of portraits is fantastic on Samsung. Looks very sharp and punchy in comparison to washed out portraits of the iPhone
I wouldn't call them washed out. They are just softer.
