You can't call this review unbiased. Many camera experts can easily tell you which camera took which shot because of the 'fingerprint' each camera leaves. Smartphone cameras are the same. It seemed in this review, the S20 image was chosen often through knowledge of how to pick it. Sure a couple S20 images were good, but even the photographer proudly announces throughout the many times he reshot an image. Telltale signs throughout and the last one where the stars a clearly visible (exactly what you're looking for in a night shot) in the Pixel 4 image is simply another dealbreaker, when it comes to taking this comparison seriously.
Honestly I wish you clarified if you were using the full 108 mp on the s20 ultra or the binning with 12 mp. binning with 12 mp makes a massive difference at night mode.
You actually can’t use the full 108 MP mode for night shots. It’s automatically disabled at least in the latest software update (which we were using) so yes binning was enabled.

Yes, indeed. Also, both iPhone and Pixel 4 horribly overexposing photos. Color accuracy is just absurd. If the guy says "it was completely black" , and then we have something with like late twilight skies, bright blue or whitish, it seems kinda artificial to me.

For the S20 Ultra, I suggest having one photo at 108MP and one at the Combined pixel 12MP output. They are much different. The blended 12MP has better color and dynamic range, whereas the 108MP sensor gives more detail at the expense of contrast and color. Especially in low light, the 12MP mode kills the 108MP mode. They are like 2 different cameras. The standard 12MP mode also uses 6 optical zoom whereas the 108Mp mode crops and uses digital zoom, even at 2x.
Asuquo Travels bruh the fact that you have to select different cameras manually means that the typical consumer wouldn’t know how to do this/ when to do this. If you genuinely don’t think this guy did it right then how are other inexperienced ppl going to know how to use the camera properly. That’s why I think the iPhone was impressive because deep fusion is automatic, night mode is also automatic etc. on the s20 you manually have to change to the 12mp lens.
We absolutely enabled night mode manually. With the handheld shots it was about a 5 second exposure and the iPhone was usually 3 seconds in that case with the pixel taking the longest about 8 second. For the tripod shot the Samsung did 28 seconds, the iPhone did 30 seconds and the Pixel 4 min.

This is a great point. I hate that the S20 Ultra needed lots of retakes. Often you just dont have that luxury to capture the moment, especially say at a kids party. This really puts me off Samsung. Things like white balance, contrast you can fix easier in post than blurry out of focus shots.
For shooting at darker scene, you should use 12mp camera of s20 ultra. Because it will combine 9 pixels to 1 to get better low light image. 108mp camera is used for daylight situation.

Agreed. It looked quite pretty and the pixel's skin was a bit green.
Pixel was the best one in that scenario imo, except it was a little out of focus
This was a great and honest comparison. Not many other reviewers do what you guys just did. Thanks for the blind comparisons. The best!!!!
Overall best is the iPhone pro Max.
Consistent
Just like spelling right?
Chris James Ugh, now that wasn’t nice...🤨🤣
There's no best. It's just personal preference. For me it's pixel.

@@chrisjames7489 Yeah and he had to edit his comment haha
If the standard 12mp was used for night shots the S20 would have easily won. I do however understand that a software update is needed to fix that auto focus issue.
The standard 12 MP was used.
God I love my iPhone 11 Pro Max I really didn’t think it would beat the s20 ultra .
This whole "108MP" Hype needs to die
They need to work on their software
why you didn't think that the iphone would beat the samsung? Has apple bad cameras?
There’s been so much hype about the s20 ultra with the cameras I just didn’t think Apple would have won .
@@martingrant9005 again it could address with updates and he also shot 108mp in low light aperture is too high need to shoot in 12 mp at night time also hdr is better go watch other youtubers. In long run the s20 will be better...
Honestly, what camera is better, at this point, doesnt even matter. Every $1000+ phone, you can bet, has a good camera and the only difference between each phone, is really very slim. It's like how us guys see different shades of nail polish, the difference is too minimal to care.
Conclusion: Quality over quantity, appl Deep Fusion destroy 108 mig pixel! Apple night mode is insane! With just 12 migpixels!! Tbh apple 11 pro max is the clear winner in my opinion. 1) Night mode winner!, close shoot winner!
Considering how many wins the Samsung had, and knowing the fact it's still got issues bug wise so it can be fixed, Surely Samsung wins
@@another2160 Nah, because Deep Fusion requires the A13 chip to process pics. I've the Z Flip which is about the S10+ quality. Also, the iPhone 12 is coming in September, pretty sure it's gonna crush Samsung again. It's good to have competition and to know that no matter if you have a Samsung or an iPhone, this video proved that they all take good pictures and videos.
Please assist on choosing s20 plus or s20 ultra for potrait pictures.. which one is best?
S20 plus
Considering all the brands.. which mobile is very good for portraits ?
For portraits my personal preference is the pixel 4 Xl -Max
It never occurred to me that there were two of you on this channel
*Have you updated your Galaxy S20 Ultra?* because Galaxy S20+ has received an update and it is better than S20 Ultra in cameras
Great video it really shows how samsung needs to improve software and a little bit of hardware in hopefully the note20
It's really funny how different reviewers taking similar situation pics and outcomes are totaly different :)
ikr! But these guys actually took the time to take multiple pictures and went with the best result they got out of it...just like people do in real life! Like...who the heck takes a single family picture? People usually take 10+ and pick 1 or 2 out of them,
Great content.. Great effort to create such a masterpiece..
Never saw such an effective & detailed comparison... I must say Hats off guys.
Wonderful Job. Love from India🇮🇳
Why didn't you use 12mp night mode on the s20ultra it would of Beat all of them
It's not fair to use the 108MP, 12MP is really better
Waaaa
@@gui1054 Read his replies on other similar comments. it uses 12mp Binning for the S20Ultra. The phone forces you automatically for night photos. So no, it didn't beat the iPhone & the Pixel.
Nah night mode is iphone
@@akhil9630 nah night mode is definitely not iPhone and definitely Samsung
This is why you guys are the best . I keep complementing .. but please never loose this . I hope to see you guys with same attitude down the road with tech review
this comparison is definitely in the top tier of all what's out in UA-cam!
In the low-light shots, did you reduce down the allow the pixel binning on the S20 Ultra, or did you choose the 108mp? Just wondering considering the binning allows for better low light shots.
We used pixel binning.
@@MaxTechOfficial Thanks for the response. I might have missed that in the video. I just wanted to have it clarified in case someone tried to use that as an excuse.
S20 Ultra : 9
Pixel 4 : 7
IPhone 11 Pro : 12
great job done very well, a lot of good info.
The night mode of the S20 Ultra in other channels wasn't that bad,,
Yes, indeed. Also, both iPhone and Pixel 4 horribly overexposing photos. Color accuracy is just absurd. If the guy says "it was completely black" , and then we have something with like late twilight skies, bright blue or whitish, it seems kinda artificial to me.
@@jdaniels4898 look at the bushes, its very mushy..
@Sinisa Ruzicic but he said it's 12mp enabled in the comments below,,
@Sinisa Ruzicic idk,, he should turned on the night mode anyway

I am so amazed by the iPhone now.... Thinking how the 12 pro will perform

Samsuck flunked this one. Not surprised! I love my Pixel 4 XL! 🥰😎
That was a fantastic comparison. And in my cases, my opinion matched Vadim’s!
i really loved the video but those night shots from the ultra is definitely not how it looks. my ultra produces some amazing night shots. you have to use night mode
I love my ultra
Very good and lot detailed review. Love it
the only thing id do with a samsung s20 ultra is zooming in from an airplane lol
i would zoom in into a plane window from the ground
I currently have both phone the iPhone Pro Max and the Galaxy S20 Ultra , I am an iPhone user but I just wanted to test the new Galaxy and I really can't get myself out of the iPhone , the Galaxy is nice but I am do used to the iPhone that I can't really let it go
I realized that I was forcing myself to like the new galaxy Ultra phone but it didn't work 😕 I am gonna stick with the iPhone , keeping the galaxy as a second phone watching movies on the weekend I guess !
The best comparison test ever 👌
Job well done 👏
You can always tell which pic is samsung’s because of the over saturation
You can always tell which photo are from iPhone cause the night mode is horrible, oh wait 😂😂😂
@@kamscott4862 flairy also 😂
@@kamscott4862 Most people don't know how to use night mode on the iPhone. Also, 4K Video low light, iPhone wins.
@@BrawndoQC nah 4k 60fps on samsung is better and matter fact s20 ultra are capable of recording an 8k video . definitely demolished iphone for that
@@izzuddinnizam2094 Nobody have the hardware to watch 8k videos though. It's pointless in this technology timeline. Do you have an 8K tv?
For the S20 Ultra, I suggest having one photo at 108MP and one at the Combined pixel 12MP output. They are much different. The blended 12MP has better color and dynamic range, whereas the 108MP sensor gives more detail at the expense of contrast and color. Especially in low light, the 12MP mode kills the 108MP mode. They are like 2 different cameras. The standard 12MP mode also uses 6 optical zoom whereas the 108Mp mode crops and uses digital zoom, even at 2x.
This review clearly shows you really don't know how to use the S20 Ultra cameras, especially when you it comes to the night mode.
@@MaxTechOfficial i have seen many reviews and their night mode photos where waaaay better so I wonder why yours was different
Max Tech thanks for replying, good to know. This guy is salty just because the Ultra didn’t win every round. Legit anyone could have any one of these 3 phones and be completely satisfied. They all have their strengths.
@@lntg Well you are entitled to your opinion. I only said i was surprised their's did look bad.

Despite that very nice comparison :)
You do a blind test, i was confused before, but since look at selfie part, i know all of the three instantly, specially for Pixel.

Wow, your content has improved a lot. Great quality video! Earned a sub.
You were able to test many different shots and clearly showed the strengths and weaknesses of each phone. I bet the S20+ would score just as good as 20 Ultra right now. After updates Ultra will be top.
Me using an iphone 6 feeling that my camera is better than s20’s whenever the 11 wins😂😂😂😂
I had the s20 ultra for about a month but it didn’t live to my expectations I sold it and whent back to iPhone 11 Pro Max
@maxtech what you guys think about the consistency of photos among these 3 phones.....i just wana know.....if i am taking 1000 photos from my phone how many of them will look good or say capture the moment......i personally think.....iphones are more reliable in that regard.....and looking at the s20ultras shots i think even note 10 or s10 would beat it in consistency.
