  • I went looking online and on UA-cam for info to try and make my moped faster. I didn't find much of anything. Ended up trying a few things and wanted to share some knowledge.
Warning I am not responsible if you mod your moped and bad shit happens to it or you.
TLDR: don't try to mod your moped it's just not worth it.
The moped in this video is a Piaggio Typhoon 50 from around 2001 or 2003. It's the same company that makes Vespas. It's an Italian 50cc 2 stroke motor with a CVT transmission.
Yes, I am aware this is quite old and no one probably cares anymore.

You dont know what your talking about. When you remove the brass ring you need to re jet. Also removing the washer helps a lot it allows the front plates go closer to together therefore the gear ratio is bigger. Roller weights dont work like you say you need to find the right ones to go fast

not sure what you are talking about. The point about the brass ring is telling people that if they remove it they need to do additional things as well. sorry I didn't tell them to rejet, but that's not the purpose of this video. As for the washer at least on this model the plates would end up farther away thus less speed and your belt will snap getting caught on the transmission body. Maybe it is different on other mopeds but not this one. You are welcome to try what ever you want I'm trying to help people not destroy their moped from all the bad info that was out when I made this video. I have noticed since posting this there are a lot better videos now that go into way more detail than I do here with more accurate information and actual upgrades that I only mention at the end.

Sorry, I made this video just to protect people from bad information. I haven't done much maintenance on this moped yet. Next spring if I have time to work on it I will video what I do and post it. Thanks for the question though if that is a content gap on youtube I will do my best to post for you.

This was used in a shop local to Indianapolis. It had been laid down at least one by a previous owner.
