WOW!....I failed in not becoming a fighter pilot due to lack of financial resources for college but I did achieve in becoming a CH-47 Chinook Flight Engineer to which I logged 960 flight hours in 7of my 12 years in the U.S.Army. I still am in AW with all these AIR FORCE vids. I am thankful for our airmen that flew in Vietnam!
They spent years saying the F4 needed a built in gun, then they made the E model with a nose gun. Then they converted E's to G's by removing the gun. The gun space holds ECM equipment. I never worked G's but I trained the WCS personnel on the new digital radar scopes and changes in the radar transmitter and receiver. I primarily was an instructor on F4 radar systems. I did a tour in Vietnam and worked depot maintenance.
Just read, that its planned to replace the Falcons with the lightning by 2016. Which is on one hand great [they always had the planes which were more or less mustered out] but on the other hand it is the most expensive bait...

Phantoms would've done pretty well with F404s in them. Its a shame they didn't keep G model around a little longer.

And got to fly both planes in the SEAD missions for "SFMC" on the PC; man I miss the old times in playing that PC game.
Awesome 👍✈️

Does the phantom is still in use by the us airforce?
@AstroChickenII both the job of the Ewo was to monitor radar emisions lock them up and the pilot presses the fire button.
Are you kidding me: avoiding trees and lamp poles? How freakin' deep are they flying???
huh, well i guess i am 20,000 viewer. yet i love this aircraft. i wish it stayed in services
how come the fighter pilot at 1:29 has glasses on?
You wouldn't hit a guy with glasses, would you?
A pilot that later in life needs glasses can keep flying
I used to own the original tape of this !!!!
