I always felt like if Honda made a new CRX this is similar to what it should have been instead of the CRZ.
a lot of people may give you crap for saying that but I entirely agree
Honestly part of the reason I suggested buying one of these to my wife. I had a CRX for a while and thought that this was in line with that.
CRZ just needed double wishbone front and rear suspension and a K series engine and it would be a hit they could.have kept the hybrid as an HF model and the K Engine model an SI
@@sheldonlamey7010 Modern Honda can't honor a name plate for the life of them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ look at the "integra"
@@skytheguy0438 I agree I'm wondering who's in charge of things at Honda( I should Know this since I'm a Honda fan). It may be because of whose running things.... Like all the misses Acura had in the 2010s were because of execs decisions. I'm a little concerned for the future of the company and cars in general. Oh well I'm not looking to get anything else other than something RWD so I can sharpen my skills on that platform.
The Hyundai Genesis (The RWD car, not the brand) was for me the first real Hyundai sports car that deserve respect, that was the first, "we are serious, be prepared because this is the beginning". Look at them right now.
I recently got a veloster and I’m 6’3 and I can say the back seats aren’t as bad as this guy is saying he’s just gotta drop the burgers and he’ll understand
Bottom line… It is just a fun car. It plays safe between fancy and fast. I have a 2016 Veloster Turbo too and I am proud to say that I am the only one in town who has it. The personality of the car itself definitely turns heads. And I love this review. On point especially the K.O. Backseat.
I always liked the Veloster, mostly because of the 3 door thing, + it looks pretty cool too.
I actually really love the deisgn of the center stack a lot.
I don't understand why so many cars struggle so much to make usable back seats.
Zack, you are the man. Great car reviews for regular people, even people who are car bias. I owned a 2016 Hyundai Turbo and from me, you nailed the review. It was always a fun and reliable car, but lacked that certain something, AWD/bigger turbo. It was totaled in a rear end collision while I was stopped in traffic. The guy was going roughly 45-50 mph and smashed in the rear end, but all in all, it took it like a champ, even ran perfect lol. It was great for what it was, but the lack of aftermarket parts was a killer for me. What do I drive now, a f#cking 2014 Chevy sonic RS, I have a thing for underrated cars lol.
I remember when these came out they were surprisingly slow. Some guy in my town bought one brand new and drove like a complete moron racing everyone everywhere. He was losing to regular 5spd integras from the late 90s.
158 hp vs 200 isnt much of a difference when considered the added weight
Fun quirk about these, because of the asymmetric doors Hyundai has to make a completely different bodyshell and doors for the few RHD markets. The driver's door is longer than the front passenger door. It was an interesting idea but it's kind of the worst of a 2-door without much of the practicality of a 4-door. I'm sad it's gone, we need more quirky cars with attitude. You have to respect Hyundai for trying new things even if they don't always work out or aren't built with the highest quality.
I own a 2015 manual great car lots of fun to drive great fuel economy put some sticky summer tires on it with some minor suspension changes and it turns into a go cart
We called it The Mullet. Party on the left, business on the right. Was actually pretty fun for a family of 3. Nowhere near as fun as my 90hp EF Civic hatchback though.
Bumping this vid, just bought a used 2016 VT w/ 6spd manual. Bought with the intension to teach the kids to drive... it's out of the box a damn good car.
Shame Hyundai killed this vehicle off, with the exception of the N model in the U.S.
You should try to get a manual one, i have a 2018 elantra gt sport turbo with a manual and its no veloster n but it does feel quick and handles pretty good
6:05 "Because my head, if I want to sit upright, is touching the rear hatch glass, and one pothole is probably going to K.O. me." 🤣
Almost got one of these a couple years ago, just to have a roller skate car to supplement the main duty sedan. For whatever reason, it just didn't quite do it for me, and it should have. It was kinda zippy, but... Maybe it was all the plastic, or the boy racer vibe. So I bagged any pretense of practicality, shifted a price bracket, and said hello to a (lightly modded) BRZ instead.
Great take. I'm biased as I love my '13 VT, also owned the naturally aspirated model as well.
Tiburon was definitely Hyundai's first foray into the car enthusiast world. Refined and improved over the years, they took a similar path with the Genesis Coupe. Thus making both models more recognizable as Hyundai's sport cars.
The Veloster platform only had different trim levels to differentiate. Some would say the Rally and R Spec were improvements, but that's debatable.
The 2nd gen Veloster and N is where I thought they were going to follow that same path, but unfortunately they've cancelled the platform and moved to other models like the Kona N and Elantra N.
nice. getting in the back passenger for once. the correct side for passenger #3
I have a 2013 model and I once had someone in the back seat and I slammed their head into the ceiling when going over a speed bump (at maybe about 10 MPH.) I had to start going really slow over them after that.
I like the hatchback and that car looks good but I have a 08 speed3 with a Turbo and 6 gear manual it my favorite car I bought so far.
Hi, do you have information about its quality?
Owned a 20 Veloster N performance pack. Handled like a track car. It was quick not fast. I now own a 22 Challenger Scat Pack wide body. Handles like a pig. This one is fast.
The 1.6 and DCT feels better in the Kona than this, even though the Kona has 20 less horsepower.
Those cars are fun
I know right? They are.
@Moparsplashimagine having mopar in your username and using reliable smh!

i mean if you really want an idea of the full story of hyundai's performance and interest in the space for enthusiast. well it was there from the begining all the way back in 1974 with the hyundai pony coupe concept car. they always wanted to make some fun and enjoyable for enthusiast but it was always a matter of money. they didn't have an engine fitting for the pony coupe so it never got made and instead they made the regular hyundai pony family car but there desires for performance has always been in Hyundai's mind. you get the Hyundai S-coupe in the 80s/90s then the tiburon then the Veloster and genesis coupe. BOOM the N brand is birrthed after years of saving up and working on make money its now time for hyundai to shine with there n brand making cars that I'll argue they've always wanted to make from the beginning . now hyundai is finally making a mark on the car world with N. you got the elantra N, Kona N and soon the new Ioniq 5 N. plus you got the RM22E and N vision 74 concept cars building up hype for the brand as well
It looks like a bitser, or a regular car made out of PlayDoh. It’s the worst of both worlds, not as spacious as a larger hatchback, not as well packaged as a smaller/older hatchback.
