- Review of one of the biggest suprises for me in my "watch life". Haven't experienced so much value for money yet. If you're looking for a small watch with a timeless design you should definitely consider this one.

Sacred Seiko is number one!!! I used to own rolexes I end up giving him away nobody ever gives you the value that you think they're worth paying for when you pay that much for a Rolex the trade up ..they hardly give you anything... I was so offended I got more joy out of just gifting them... But then I discovered the Seiko 5 that so many people like friends and family had been talking about for years I picked one up .... And I love everything about this watch I love the way it fits my wrist I love the way the band hugs my wrist .. I think it's worth mentioning I had the Rolex actually the expensive Rolex on my wrist when I was sailing and the bracelet popped open...... So you know I really can't complain about this Seiko bracelet I love how snug it is to my wrist..... I love the Japanese design most of all and they are always innovative and clever and smart they're timeless they're just absolutely timeless..... And you can have so much fun with so many different colors and so many different styles and they're reliable I don't know I think it's a concept that's just most enjoyable and joyful

Nice video. I have several Seiko 5 watches that are running consistently within COSC accuracy. My SNXS79 runs at -2 secs per day. They are such a pleasure and joy to wear. Best wishes!
Best watch under $250 hands down. This is the great Seiko value that made them known all over the world. I own the similar Seiko 5 7009 series, same size and dial in black, my grandpas old watch and a favorite in my collection. He had it since the early 90s, never been serviced and still works like a charm. The only dislike of the watch you reviewed is the see through case back, closed back would give it more timeless look and probably would save few mm in thickness. Great review, great watch, everyone should own one.

The SNXS line is a fantastic and inexpensive dress watch in the Seiko 5 line. There are so many different dial designs and color options and it's hard to find a better watch for the price. The bracelet, though, leaves a lot to be desired.

Nice review sir. I bought 2, snx79 NOS, for 140 US, each. both say Japan movement. Yes you pay more for those. I put one away, and have been wearing the other one for 8 months. I love it. Keeps good time, mine loses about 1 minute every 7 days. Very pleased with that. I like the day date very much, the blue color for Saturday, and red for Sunday is a nice touch. So far this watch still looks absolutely brand new, yes the lume is excellent ! I definitely recommend this watch, I believe they sold right around 300 dollars when they were introduced. And really, the band looks nice, is very comfortable, and only rattles when you SHAKE IT, and never when worn. I do think the band you are using looks nice too.

Excellent vid, thanks. I've just bought the SNXS79 with the beautiful dark silver dial and am anxiously waiting for that to arrive. It was only $80 USD from Creation Watches. I quite like rattly Seiko bracelets. It's like the watch is singing to you as you move around.

Since I already ordered mine and there's no chance of competition for availability, Jomashop has this on sale for $79 right now and it just came back in stock. It goes in and out of stock fast (I waited 2 weeks for it to come back in stock again). It might not be at this price for long and you won't find it close to this cheap anywhere else. Every other site either doesn't have it in stock or wants $150+. So better get it right now while supplies last if you really want it. I expect they'll be out of stock again in less than 24 hours because people are buying them up like crazy.

Hi from England, excellent thorough review with good footage of the watch. This piece definitely has the feel of the white OP39 or Datejust, I think it's the indices and hands. Looks great on that strap, have also seen some pics on Insta of it on a jubilee which looks good. Enjoy the watch, have ordered one myself and looking forward to getting it. Cheers👍🏾👍🏾

This is next on my want list! Already have ocean blue Seiko 5 Sports "Turtle", but 45 mm case is a little bit large for my 7 inch wrist.
I just ordered this one with a dark brown leather NATO strap 😊 should be here middle of next week. sadly - you can't get it for $70-$80 hardly at all here in the US anymore, but I luckily found one for about $82 today.

You can take it to a watch repair guy and he can balance the movement internally and it'll run really good it might just need a little deep magnification or something in today's world there's electromagnetic fields everywhere but as far as I'm concerned the old school watches let you know when you're in the zone., Balanced get it balanced and it will keep good time pretty accurate
I just bought the SNXS75K which has the gold hands. I paid $99 plus tax which brought it up to $106.99. These are getting a little more expensive. I had to look around to find it for this price, many of them were going for $150 and up.
I do wish I could find a saphire crystal for it though

You can probably find a watchmaker who can source one and replace it for you. I had mine replace the crystal on my SNX121.

Awesome video! I’ve never had an automatic watch so I’m curious how loud the movement is? I spend quite a bit of time at the library would I be able to hear it tick or would the people around me hear it?
Thanks! If you really concentrate on it you can hear it but it is the same with quartz watches with a ticking seconds hand. I don’t see a real problem there as long as you don’t go for an automatic watch with a rotor that only winds the watch in one direction, so that it would spin in the other direction freely (without powering the watch) and usually quiet loudly.
Automatic watches are great. I love seikos NH35 movement. This watch has the older 7S26 movement though. Beyond that think about the size more than thicking, you wont hear anything. I have bought Invicta pro diver but i had to sell it because it was 40mm case and Ive discovered its too large for me.
i couldnt decide whether i should buy the snxs73, snxs77 and snxs79 so i bought all three...

@@theocy1986 the Skx (was part of the Seiko 5 series before they came up with prospex) of course, if you can get one for a decent price. Otherwise I like those field type watches (SNZG09K1 and its variations). Too many watches out there😎

The metal strap on the watch you're wearing is much more 70s mafia drug dealer than the original SNXS73. Someone had to say it. Anyway, nice leather strap.

These bracelets are better than anyone thinks, they outlast the pins points on so-called solid bracelet clasps and don't have stupid screws to lose. Where did you get your strap, what's it called?

I purchased the watch last week. In blue sphere. I changed the metal strap for a leather one like you.
I don't know if it's my case, but the dial on the side, at 6 o'clock on the dial. It presents some marks or scratches caused by the fastening of the original metal strap. Specifically for the two metal extensions at twelve and six, which makes the strap fit perfectly to the spherical shape of the dial.
Can someone confirm that this is so, that the original strap scratches the side itself. Observing these scratches if we opt for a leather strap.

Lovely shots, thank you! Just what I need to round off my collection: super clean 60s style, wearable size, even decent lume. WR is a bit of a bummer. I presume Seiko limits it on purpose in order not to cannibalize their more expensive lines. Currently sold out in all of Europe. 🙁
Beautiful watch in the silver dial. I’m looking one now and the version with the metal band SNXS79. But I’ve seen another one with the same model number , but has differences.
So my question is, do Seiko use the same model number for different model or is the one I’m looking at on eBay from Hong Kong a fake?
There’s only one model number for one model. So SNXS79 ist SNX79. But there are sometimes international model numbers like SNXS79 and the Japanese domestic market model number for the „same“ model (but in this case the JDM models are made in Japan and have this written on the dial).
Where can I get a clear translucent style crystal gasket to replace that black one that they put in there?

The watch is absolutely beautiful but they took a big time shortcut on the bracelet. The bracelet is no better than Chinese junk. It’s a shame.
Who buys a watch for the bracelet? So simple to just throw on a better strap. I think the point of the watch is that the production efforts were poured into the watch itself. Good luck finding a watch at this price point that has a nice dial, nice markers, good lume (or any lume at all), automatic, display case backing, day/date function, etc. Even most of Seiko's higher tier watches don't look this good, or just give you date without day, or still have just hardlex (and you can mod this to put on sapphire if you really wanted), or have no lume, or just a little bit of lume, or have terrible dial patterns or no dial pattern at all, or bad looking hour markers. To be honest, I prefer this over a Seiko SARB or Presage even.
C North the point is, if I buy a watch, I shouldn’t have to immediately replace the band because it’s junk. The band should be of a quality on par with the actual watch. Anyone will tell you the face is amazing but the band is crap. That’s like saying who cares about the tires if you like the car because no one buys a car for the tires.
I like the original bracelet, it feels retro
Very nice looking watch, pity about the movement and accuracy.
When it comes to automatic watches, accuracy really doesn't matter much as long as it's not -/+ 25 seconds a day. You'll still be adjusting any automatic watch a couple of times a month if accuracy is of importance. Even with day/date, you'll be adjusting any watch at least once a month because without a perpetual calendar, it's not going to know how many days are in a month. So you'll at least be resetting it the first of every month, on top of whatever inaccuracies there might be. Even at 10 seconds a day, you might be off only 5 minutes a month...and it's better to be running fast than slow, you'll never be late, just early.

@Davidson Viray: I prefer the this dial over the black because it gives me the illusion of a bigger watch (in my opinion white watches always look a little bit larger than their dark faced versions), since this watch has the smallest diameter I’m capable to wear.

@Davidson Viray: both are capable of every day use, from formal to casual attire (depending on the strap). The question is, wether you want the watch to look a little bit bigger (then I would recommend getting the white dial).

Both dial colors can be dressed up as well as down. If I were you I would make my decision based on the status of my watch collection. If you don’t have a light colored dial yet, I would definitely go for the silver one to add some variety to the collection/rotation. Besides, I think the silver dial wears a little bit bigger on the wrist (of course, it still is the same size) which was the biggest argument for me.
Where are you seeing these for under $100???? All the stores have these for $250 upwards.

@Mas Kris: As far as I know the 73 and the 79 are more or less the same watches. The only difference - I can see - is the color of the dial. I still would pick the 73 because of the silver dial which makes the watch look a little bit larger. Thanks for your question!
