the gold curse being more common then the sunken curse surprises me, maybe it’s because its also a bit of a pain to get an a lot of people dont like how it looks, but still kinda crazy to me considering it takes maybe 6 hours to get compared to gold which takes around 10 hours assuming u have a friend to help u use the checkpoint exploit if not(which i do not usually) then it takes much longer
same here biggest surprise of the whole video for me, also considering the gold curse looks much better and yes the time commitment, but you can attribute it to the fact that the gold curse has been out much longer so over time the sunken curse will probably be like the ashen curse.

I think it’s because the tall tales came out a good amount of time back and the sunken curse was more recent and if you weren’t playing when it released you probably wouldn’t knew it existed till you saw someone with it in. It’s a lot harder to miss that the gold curse exists
In my opinion the gold curse is more of a pain then sunken
6 hours on the game but 18 hours on rare thief to find the stupid books
I have this bug where whenever I get attacked, the other people are either the Reapers Curse or Athenas Fortune, and they obliterate me in minutes.
Yea ive seen that one before only with the skeleton one tho not the athena

i encountered a full crew, and they ALL had the legendary blessing, they were friendly and helped me in the hg
They're one of the best kind of people, experienced PvP who like to help others get the stuff too

i was doing fort of the damned with a rando and brig full of new players showed up. nice and friendly, helped us with the fort, (which the more players makes it harder but that’s ok)
and at the end one of them grabbed the key and was gonna give it to me bc it was my fort but i let him. then shot all the barrels while my crewmate dropped a keg on their ship. god bless those kids

No there isnt. Steam has 10k xhox maybe 50-100k if that.

@@mostbean yeah man, i just got the curse yesterday with 3 other people. one of which i actually met on open crew and i promised to take him with us. i read all 30 journals for preperation and bought the voyage, and after 2.5 hours or so we finally got the curse. it was really frustrating, but the curse looks cool as hell

First of all to get all books from each shrine as a solo slooper was a humongous pain in the ass, but I did it, without a single care for any of the loot of earning any money. Ok. That torture passed. I spend 50 blueys to buy the voyage, put it on the table, went along to Safer Seas because... Just... Fed up lol. Was gonna "rush it", which meant that it would probably take me 2 hours instead of 3.
I digress. As in - in the game - to killing a Meg, looting most islands and shrines I came across during the voyage... And there was the ghost-ship world event near the shrine for the second key (and at this point I'm already at a 2 hour session of SoT). I was like "ok, I'll hear it while I'm under the god damned water, as I know I did before so... I suppose... I'm safe(?)".
Me fool.

2 hours in, I'm underwater doing the god damned shrine of ocean's fortune for the N-th time, and I just get the black bars on the screen. I was confused, to my foolishness, and was like "what the...?".
And then the text appeared on the black bars.
"Voyage failed"
"Chest of the blah blah was lost"
I went for a smoke after this humongous bullshittery.
I heard... One... Cannon shot while I was down for 20 minutes, instantly came back up, saw that I'm barely in the vicinity of ONE patrolling ghost ship and that it mostly sailed AWAY from me, and shot and missed 1 ghost cannonball every 15 minutes. "Ok", went down for half an hour, and without any warning just sank apparently.
Got robbed 50 tokens, 2 hours of my time, and a full ship of loot... For which, frankly, I cared the least (since it's safer seas anyway).
But this gOOD DAmned (pun intended) curse! Fu*k.
Don’t know if I should be ashamed or proud to be in that 3000

Keep in mind, these numbers are massively inflated by the number of people who played at launch but quot as well as people who just tried the game out on Xbox live.
Every one of these curses can be obtained through dedicated play.
My mate had a gold curse some how he didn’t even like sea of thieves
Idk if I'd ever want either the gold Athena curse or the gold Reaper curse, both of those scream "No Life" as if it were through a megaphone.

I am glad to say I am one of those approximately 120,000 who owns the sunken sorrow curse, it was a pain, but the 6 hours was worth it

You can still get the Legendary Curse at level 105 in Guardians of Fortune
I didn't think the sunken curse was so rare it was the first one I got
I feel like 5% for the legendary curses are way too high. I’d guess it’s more like .5% because I’ve only seen 1 legendary curse in hourglass but every other battle i see a normal PvP curse
From my experience i have seen quite a few and with their only being 60k of the normal athena and skeleton i assumed at least 1k had the gold and 5% just felt right, but hey its a ball park so maybe you are right
You can’t just go off of your own sample size you have to consider the fact that you’re not encountering people on servers for other continents/regions. In fact I’ve been matched up against the same people in queue fights which goes to show there’s a large population you’ll never see.
I 100% agree but since none of us know the TRUE number does it really matter what anyone estimates it was only my two cents and I think it’s probably pretty close but like I said maybe it’s larger maybe it’s smaller who knows
For sure 5% is extremely high, 0.1-0.5% sounds about right.
@@DaBinBin-_-a good way to measure it is by looking at the sea of thieves Xbox achievements. You get one for getting the Athena’s blessing and There’s also a separate one for skeleton curse. If I remember correctly it’s around 0.02% of players who got the blessing achievement
I've played this game for roughly 2 weeks and already have ashen and sunken sorrow. I thought that atleast 15% of the players have the ashen curse.
I used to think it'd be 35% with how often I see the clumsiest of players wear it.
I like that they keep things rewarding and special

The sunken curse was actually my FIRST curse, and I still wear it to this day
I just got the legendary blessing. Took me 6 weeks to hard grind. Now I’m the top % of player base FOREVER

Sunken curse was the first curse I got, because I spent half of my time solo slooping, and you're almost impossible to rob at a single shrine if you do your due diligence.
Still doing the voyage itself was tough even with a galley crew, since you have to do 3 shrines while holding onto the same chest.

I would happily put it down for other people. I suffered so some people wouldn't have to. Plus, it wasn't even that difficult, took like 3 hours, maybe 4 tops.
It's even more rare to get me down in the water, but I wanted that Mermaid drowned curse so badly.
You missed 2 curses in there the legendary curse, and the golden skeli curse

The gold skelli and the legendary Athena are probably similar and the legendary curse doesn’t have any way of me finding out how many people have it sadly so had to leave it out the video
@DaBinBin its similar in way by unlocking it (getting to lv 1000) but one is actually in the curse section and the other the gold skelly is just a customization option
I feel like alot of people can unlock the hourglass curses if people had the dedication and time/patience to unlock

for me the sunken curse was pretty easy, 2 days of like 3 hr grind each. im not even that skilled (only have like 60 hrs playtime) it was a pain but it was def worth the grind !

Let’s be honest, I’ve only heard about several streamers and good players obtain the gold Athena’s curse, if there were nearly 3000 players who’ve have it, there’s a large percentage of them who’ve probably abused there way to get it (alliance servers or cheaters)
Thing is 3000 of 30,000,000 total players is believable in my eyes that’s 0.0001% of players so whether or not they got it from abusing the system doesn’t change the fact it’s superrrrr hard to get

Im honestly astonished that more people have the gold curse than the sunken curse, I literally got the sunken curse in less than a day and am still yet to get the gold curse and I just hit pirate legend.
I just finished getting the journals and am planning to get the Sunken Curse tomorrow. In my opinion, it and the Ashen curse look the coolest, I'm super pumped

And those with PvP curses are on KOS mode as soon as they have supplies. There were at least 3 servers wide alliances to beat those back last month.

Bro the sunken sorrows curse is so free, I found someone in open crew that already had the voyage and all the set up ready, I got the curse in less than 10 minutes, never even left my ship since you don’t have to read the final book, when a cremate reads it the curse is given to everyone. Literally AFKed a curse.

I got the sunken sorrow curse cause I love it and had to get it. Took me like 2 hours on the quest alone because I did it before they made the safe servers and had been chased a few times. Proud to have it.

@@thrice33 I am decent at it but can rarely get a 3 streak and have never gotten 4. Don’t worry though, you will get your curses eventually, just keep chipping away at them.

Wow that's crazy. I basically got my sunken curse by complete accident well within my first few hours playing. Whenever I see a journal, I just spam through it, not actually reading anything then saw I unlocked a tall tale and went after it. 😂
I feel like the Sunken Curse wasn't that hard to get, a day or two of solid grinding and it was done, finding the journals in all of the shrines was the only part that actually took time for me to do
But because most of the shrines don't pay out heavily unless you got a quest up. That most people prefer the rewards from doing ashen/gold. Plus I bet it's pretty common players don't like to leave their boat unattended for any amount of time. I had a reaper 5 watch me do the whole thing they alliances me and even defended my ship from another player as I was getting my final key! It's uncommon but I told em they could sink me with all my loot if they'd let me finish 😂😂

Ashen took me like 2.5 hrs, sunken like 3, gold curse like 3 days solo no cheese ballpark around 25-30 hrs . And almost an all day grinds.

God I want that skeleton curse but the fucking grind for it sounds unholy
Used to think it wasn't so bad till I did a few rounds. At a certain point turning in a streak 3-4 hourglass only gives you about a quarter of a level. Each match takes about 15-20 minutes (assuming it doesn't become a bloody war of attrition that lasts hours because neither side refuses to bend the knee)
So that's about 2 hours for what amounted to a 4th of a full god damn level... And I left off in lvl32, we gotta do 100 of those.
LOL nah HG is tweaker territory, only reason those curses scare me is because the process to getting them is so long and tedious you probably lose your god damn mind halfway into it.
It suprises me that so few people have the skelly curse, but that means i can just flex the fact that i have it more, even if im still bad at pvp
PvP curses aren’t even a flex you can loss farm for those easy. It’s only a 100 levels and the first 20 are a joke
@@Alexander71827 you still need max reapers so that takes a ton of time since levelling it with loot not stolen from other players slows to a crawl so you are going to have to win fights either way
