some are born for live sessions, others should never leave the studio. Nexus Polaris is a masterpiece and chariots of thunder one of the best songs on that album. This version here just hurts my brain and makes me wanna stab my ears
Haha! :D well, I hope you understand, that in this case the technics failed, which lead to the fact, that the playing In harmony was impossible... happends all the time, specially in live circumstances and specially festivals, like this one... ;)

Can't blame them for shit sound, and I believe that's the main issue here. This gig isn't their best performance, but all things considered, imo this is very good.
The thing is, bands like these, that rely a lot on sound, require a very expensive crew. If you hear NIN live, they sound amazing, but just look at the amount of techs they have, it's like 10 extra people both on-stage and behind the stage working alongside the band. I guess The Kovenant just didn't have the budget to hire all those techies.

Astennu is clearly very much missed, his playing is what makes nexus polaris really amazing in my view :(
As far as I know, he was about to come and play in the Inferno festival (2010?) with the band when they performed the whole nexus album, but for some reason he didn't manage to get there, so Angel took his place on that gig...

Haha, well I wish! :) I've been 11 at the time, so I was probably playing outside some kidsstuff, while they had this gig...! :D (But I was listening Nexus back then, cause my brother had bought the album! :)
Anyway, this video has actually been in Tube before, but it was removed (probably for some legal issues...) and I was looking for it, but as it was removed I started to search through internet, if I would have a chance to find it, and I found it from some other "youtube-kind-of" -site and just downloaded it and uploaded it here again!
So now we're goingto see, how long it will last in here, before some "net-polise" desides to remove it :D

К тому же стало массово появляться что то новое в пост индустриальной музыки. От Hocico до Haus Arafna.
Но Ковенант хороши. При чем оба - и Норвежский и Шведский 🤣
This might be the only time the band played in Finland, right? What happened to this band? Is It true that Lex told they won't do Aria Galactica because the record company did not respond to them anymore.
Hmm, that's a good question! It might be that this was the only time here! :O I don't remember Lex saying that, but it's completely possible! SETI got pretty dubious response back when the album came out! I guess the record label(s) hoped they would return to black metal (that's what most people always assumed and hoped that they'd do!) But the Aria Galactica samples, which were floating all over the internet back in the day gave pretty good hint, that there's not going to be any TRVE KULT BM stuff...

Kine the keyboardist, seems to have given up music now. I first saw her on the Satyricon Roadkill VHS that they released. I often wondered what happened to her. Apparently she seems to be some sort of food journalist.

Fuck I wrote a long-ass answer, but then the it all vanished, so I just put the basics here, seems to be, that she's a journalist (or has been, since nothing after 2018 hasn't been posted in her twitter...) over all, not just a foodblogger (or such...) nothing came out, that she would participate in music scene anymore... which is a bit shame to ask me! But yes indeed, nice to hear what all these old mucisians are up to nowdays! :P
Someone should do a where are they now video. I know Gorgoroths original vocalist is now a martial arts instructor. And the Dimmu Keyboardist (the one with the top hat ) Is not a dance music act.

Paradise Lostin piti soittaa päälavalla. Mutta heidän keikkapussinsa oli valitettavasti palanut jossain matkanvarrella. Estyivät tulemasta, tästä syystä Covenant soitti päälavalla heidän tilallaan. Harmillista. Olisihan se ollut hienoa nähdä myös Paradise Lostkin.

Juuri tuon ajan Paradise Lostin ansiosta meikäläinenkin oppi soittamaan rumpuja! :D No sinäänsä tuo oli ihan ok homma, kun PL.n tilalla oli hyvää tavaraa, niin mitään varsinaista häviötä ei päässy kokemaan! :) Satutko muistamaan mitään muita biisejä, joita Covenantti veti tuona päivänä?
Biisilistasta ei ole hajua. Kysyä kannattaa Joensuun Popareiden toimistolta onko niillä ylhäällä pändien biisilistoja. Mistä olet tämän pätkän saanut? Ilosaarirock kuvasi nettiin 20 minuutin pätkiä ja tämä on siitä. Itsellä oli tästä se 20 minuuttia. Vhs kannasta siirryttyä nauha hävisi. Tälla ajatuksella jossain pitäisi olla melkoinen kanta eri bändien taltiointeja.
OK, noh, kiitos silti tiedosta! Koitan lypsää tietoa heiltä sitten! Ihan yleissivistys ja siltäkin kannalta biisilista kiinnostaa, että soittivatko tuolla keikalla yhtään ekan albumin biisejä! Bändi kumminki koki aikamoisia muodonmuutoksia ekan kolmen levyn aikana, etten olis kovin yllättynyt, vaikka eivät olisi soittaneet! (Vaikka olen löytänyt täältä tuben kätköistä kyllä muutamia vetoja bändiltä, juuri tuon ekan levyn materiallia siis!)
Hah, tämän videon kanssa on itseasiassa niin, että se oli tubessa jo aikaisemmin jonkun toisen käyttäjän toimesta, mutta sitten se poistettiin (tod näk. tekijänoikeuksien vuoksi...) ja pätkä jäi kumminkin meikän mieleen, niin päätin jossain vaiheessa ruveta etsimään netistä (lähinnä youtuben kaltaisista sivustoilta) ja oliskohan nyt ollut venäjän vastaavassa youtubessa vai missä video tuli vastaan ja latasin sen oitis itselleni ja sitten myöhemmin latasin sen tänne, koittaakseni omaa onneani (ja ainakin vielä se on täällä ja näköjään katsojiakin on ollut! :D )
Saatat löytää ainakin Mobyltä ja HIM.iltä esiintymiset samaisilta festareilta täältä tubesta! Ja Moby itseasiassa innostuukin soittamaan Paranoidia ja Rootsia omalla videollaan, kun Suomessa on niin paljon Black Metal faneja :D Todennäköisesti nuokin pätkät ovat tuolta samalta dokumentilta, josta mainitsit!
Mut joo, eipä meikää ainakaan haittaisi nähdä lisää matskua, et pitää toivoa, että joku omistaa ja uppaa sen tänne! :P
Dimmu taisi olla Provinssissa tuona samaisena vuonna, josta olisi myös mukava nähdä livekuvaa (olen nähnyt sieltä vain muutamia valokuvia heidän esiintymiseltään) Ja Pantera oli Nummirockissa tuolloin myös, josta ei liikaa materiaalia ole katseltavana myöskään, et pari videoo olen sieltä nähnyt täällä tubessa + joskus olen saanut ladattua kyseisen keikan audion... mut näkeminen ei haittaisi lainkaan! :)
I prefer the modern line-up with angel. But all their music is awesome! The keyboardist is cute... I saw them at inferno 2010.
Industrialist2015ofUk I'VE never had any opinnoin about that, I think they both are great in their own way, but that's very nice to hear that you saw them at inferno 🙂 the videos I'VE seen, the gig was very cool! No bullshit, just played the awesome songs and left the stage, nothing more needed! 😋

Industrialist2015ofUk well, yeah! In that sence, it is reasonable to give credit to Angle, when he's pretty much underrated! Perhaps they brag about it just so much, since it was A "Nexus" -show, and Everybody else did show up, who played on that record... and yeah, Kine did good job as a synth player at the time, even though this video doesen't do justice, when the mixing is quite horrible! 😀 well, I did upload this only because of the documental value, not because how great the play! This is pretty much the whorst version I've heard from them! 😀 Someone said in the comments, that Kine is a journalist nowdays, so thats why it's hard to see her playing anymore...
ah ok, i didnt know about her. I just think the 2000-2003 lineup with Hellhammer and Angel etc. just looked and sounded the part! they looked cool and sounded great playing old and new stuff. just an underrated band generally... and i gave up on expecting Aria galactica a long time ago. I just stick with Rammstein, Fear factory and Deathstars for my industrial music :)
Industrialist2015ofUk yeah, well it's Fuckin 20 years when Nexus came out, so not only underrated, but forgotten too! I was A goddamn child when the album came out, so new generation doesen't have a clue about the album or the band! 😀 but I'm glad there has popped quite few kovenant live videos in tube within few years, when it was long time that there was only A few if them! I recomnend you to watch satyricon's roadkill extravaganza, if you want to see more of kine hult! 😉 she toured with the band at the time and probably in metal-archives you might find more bands where she have probably been... 😉

All of them are still doing more/less music to this day, but they probably have some dayjobs as well... Psy Coma (guitarist) has and probably still works at some furniture company, Kine Hult (keys) at least used to be a journalist, Astennu (redhaired guitarist) just vanished somewhere from the scene... Hellhammer is in Mayhem + millions of other bands and Lex Icon (Nagash) the singer/basist has at least the band Troll, but most likely he has some dayjob as well...

Maybe it’s a low or old quality recording but they sound so bad .. so outta time not synchronized at all so sloppy . But they still one of ma favorite bands
Yeah, well sound is not mixed, but the sloppyness is probably because of technical difficulties they had on stage (with soundmonitors and such...) which usually makes that kinda disfuctions.. that causes problems with band hearing eachother and then sloppyness begins on stage...

Con nexus polaris pintaban ser una banda tan grande como Dimmu Borgir, incluso mejores, pero la cagaron con "Animatronic" un album industrial que nada tenia que ver con el maravilloso Nexus
Yeah, Nexus is lot more like Dimmu at the time, than Animatronic. To me their every album is quite understanable and natural progress, not so much copying. But almost haf of the band members WAS in Dimmu at the time! :D

But Psyclone (Amund Svensson) has made bunch of music which sounds a lot like the "leaked" Aria Galactica stuff back in time..! Surely, yes :) Here it almost sounds like EDM in parts. Like a transition in sound between Nexus Polaris and Animatronic... Do you have any more of this concert ?
Hah, yeah! Probably they tried all kinds of sounds and tricks when they rehearsed for the shows at the time! And ofcourse the time was heading towards Animatronic-era…! But unfortunately no :( I'm pretty sure the whole show is recorded, but only the festival-people owns the material and this clip was from somesort of document the Ilosaari-rock Group released (one dude told me here in UA-cam, that this clip is from that document…) and actually this video was in Tube earlyer, but it was erased, so I desided to search it from the net, and found it! :P I uploaded it to Tube, so let's see how long it lasts here this time :D
But I recommend you to watch this ua-cam.com/video/inaXx7TqioA/v-deo.html (not sure if you're Moby fan, but the ending of the video is funny, when he starts to pay honour to the audience :D ) and as you can probably put things together, this was from the same festival and same year! ;)

Hah, ok :D That's nice! :) Covenant / The Kovenant is from Norway, though this video is filmed in Finland! There is not much live material of this band, not at least here in tube, and the band has been quite quiet for some time, so not much going on over all with them, but at least it's possible to enjoy the old stuff! :P Nice to hear you're interested about Finland! :) You're probably from Spain, or some country where they speak spanish , am I right? :D

Чем то похожие на Dimmu borgir чем то нa The Enigma TNG или Fear factory.
И внешние образы музыкантов довольно оригинальные.
This was concidered as a "supergroup", which had members all over from the Norwegian scene and the singer/basist and the guitarist (with the gameshirt on) played in Dimmu Borgir at the time!
This was from the timeperiod, when Covenant started to steer their sound towards industrial style and on their next album, the band had changed their name to "The Kovenant", where the sound difference is noticeable from melodic black/extreme metal to more industrial style, like Fear Factory and other industrial sounding bands...
The old material, specially Covenant's debut album is quite straight melodic Black metal, but the material and style evolves quite much per album! Go check them out! ;)

Yeah, I believe they had bit technical issues there, but they saved it ;) For your heartbreaks I recommend you to go check Amund Svenssons Solo material, which is mainly orchestal stuff, but you can clearly hear the "Aria Galactica" style, which was shown in the demo clips that are in youtube. He has lot's of solo stuff, that he has published through years! I don't rememeber all the links, but I'm pretty sure you'll find some of the pages, where he used to release his songs!

You can not put Covenant and the Kovenant together unless both bands are in fact present in this video. Both bands produce different music. Covenant is more on the industrial music side while the Kovenant is more on the industrial-cyber side. Hence the somewhat heavy vocals. Smfh

The reason for the title is that The Kovenant started out as Covenant, but the other Covenant that you're thinking about forced them to change their name in 1999. At this time they were still using the old name.
