If you're a Lion Whisperer fan, you will know what big cats, like lions, love more than anything, outside of food: rolling in ecstasy in plant eater poo. They literally put themselves into a trance by rubbing in the pheromones of the midden piles left by gazelles or even elephants. Watching Alexander reminded me of their antics. Mind you, he could just be a feral cat that's desperate for affection, but unable to trust people fully.
Lol! I haven't seen the Lion Whisperer, but that sounds fascinating! Luckily for us, Alexander is not rolling in anything quite so fragrant, but he certainly is a performer and can mesmerize an audience!🤣🤣🤣
@@EwetopiaFarms Lion Whisperer is wonderful YT channel, if you love cats of all sizes. The biggest surprise I got, was discovering that cats are cats, no matter the size. If you have a relationship with with them, like Keven Richardson does, they treat you like family. He runs a sanctuary in South Africa for rescued Lion's, Black Panthers, Cheetah and Hyeanas. They aren't pets. Yet he interacts with them and takes them on enrichment walks.
Knockout helped make a gorgeous ewe! It's nice to see that it isn't just Glad making good babies. Hopefully she won't attack bales like her father lol! Aww Alexander is a good little cat. So cute . I'm so sorry about your shearer hurting his back. I hope that you can find someone new. Hopefully there will be no parasites. It looked like the sheep really enjoyed the freedom of the field! It was so much fun watching them play and eat grass. What a sweet little ewe lamb, hopefully their mothers lice isn't too bad. Those shearers were the perfect gift! It was cool learning about planting corn. It's too bad about the lamb who can't walk. Aww, saying hi to Buddy was wonderful. I haven't seen him for a while. You really are making the best of things! I wonder if you can get a new shearer. Have a great day, see you tomorrow! ❤🐑
All the rams have done a pretty good job this year. We will highlight some of Hannibal's' lambs shortly. They are very chunky 😁 The sheep love the freedom of being outside. We are happy they can go out but we watch very closely for signs of parasites. 🙂
Yep we do the same thing with the horses on spring grass, ie make sure their bellies are at least a little full before turning them out on pasture grass so they don’t go too crazy.
😊😮😮😮 no shearing nerve racking and stressful im sure i think yall could shear them just as good and cheaper might take you longer but team work makes a dream work . What do i know i have pigs lol .love from Tennessee
I figure that if we sheared 10 sheep/day, assuming we had time for that because 10 sheep would take us a day, we would be shearing for 40 days straight! Totally impossible 🙂
So you’re selling off all your mature Dorset ewes and replacing them with your yearlings. Does that mean you’re going to need to buy a new Dorset ram this year for genetic variety?
Luckily we have 6 different Dorset bloodlines at the moment so can easily find unrelated pairings. However, a new Dorset may be on the horizon. We'll have to wait and see 😉
as from exsperience i know when sheep not trusting me i mean once they except me if some stranger came near my sheeps while i was out they wouldnt trust me then later they happy again
I so love your content!!!! I'm looking forward to when you breed some of our old favorites. :) I have some tough decisions ahead. Do I stop with teh sheep altogether? do I switch to dwarf Nigerian goats? One of the reasons I got the sheep was to be more active, moving my body when possible. I think it's good for me. There's that part of me that knows that ditching the sheep might literally shorten my life span. Regardless... I love my sheep.... I like my goats, and the goats are the next ones up to the plate. :)
Good evening Arnie and Lynn. The new clippers are working out great for you guys. Aww. Alexander is a very comical cat. Come on Max he just wants to be friends. Oh my gosh cancelled again. So sorry. And here comes the girls. What an awesome jump. She scored a 10. Big smile on Arnies face. Parasites here we come 😂😂😂😂😂😂. So glad you let the matriarchs stay. Angel and Big Betty. Those sheep saw only the gorgeous green grass. Oh goodness it would have been awful for one of Gladiators son to get strangled. Now there is a protective mama. And you both are amazing at caring for your sheep. You know I was wondering about Buddy and he showed up to say Hi. Take care. Love the video. Big big hugs to you both. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😉😉😉❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those ewes sure did move from one barn to the other so well. Alexander is so friendly yet still cautious. He’s so relaxed around the dogs. Bet he’ll be flirting with the sheep soon. 😂 THANK EWE!!
Yes, I think they enjoyed the outdoors, so we're happy to go for a little hike! 🙂 Yes, you're right. Most of our cats are fascinated by the sheep, but Alexander is more interested in the dogs, which I kinda don't like because we have lots of coyotes around here!
Love seeing the ewes out on the lush grass. They’re in seventh heaven, lol. So troublesome the shearer didn’t come again. It seems he always has a reason. 🤔 The lambs were a hoot running in the field. They had no clue what to do with the grass! Beautiful little newborn ewe lamb. 🫶 I’m keeping fingers crossed the little stepped on guy heals quickly. 💛
So good to see Alexander so happy. The sheep who were supposed to be sheared were so happy in the fields. Do they ever get ticks on their legs? Just wondering. Hope the stepped on lamb gets better
Actually, everyone around hear gets ticks from the dogs and cats to me and Arnie, but I have never seen a tick on the sheep. I think the dewormers kill them
I think the problem is that there aren’t many sheep farms in the area. If there were, there might be more shearers. Or maybe not. Shearers come to North America from South America for shearing season because we don’t have enough here.
@@scootytamra Yep. It will continue to be sad until the price of mutton rises faster than the cost of their inputs. I think those teams that travel around shearing in Norway, Australia and Venezuela would be something to take advantage of, but Ewetopia Farms is small and would probably need to go through an organization like Wool Growers to get in on the action. No idea if there’s any movement in that direction.
So glad to see Alexander has tamed down and is letting you pet him
Can't wait to see the rest of the lbs born.Hope you and Arnie have a great day.❤️🐑
Thanks, you too!🙂
The ladies looked so beautiful out on those lush green fields!! I can see how watching them can lift your spirits. Best wishes with the shearing!!!🙏❤
Good Morning from Minnesota 🎣
im jealous of all your sheeps trusting you ill have to wait and hope they will trust me
They will. Give them time 🙂

Yes, very cool to see though he is older Glad is still producing so many great looking babies.

@justinanovak8040 yes, Glad has been a consistent producer of good lambs over the years.
Cool it was awesome to see "The Bud-ster", stealing Tommy's food!
Buddy is probably the only one who could get away with that too!😅
Everybody looks so good

It makes sense that a shearer’s back would need to be protected.
Thinking of and prayers for people in Alberta… can’t believe the fires had already begun a little while back up there….it’s still spring!!!
@@justinanovak8040 It is hard to believe!
Yes, with sheep bloat can be a real issue on these lush spring grasses so filling their bellies first helps prevent that from happening 🙂
Shearing... I've seen this movie before!!! 😬😬😬
Kind of a cross between a "who done it" and maybe "psycho"!
Nice video sorry your shearing is starting out with problems hopefully it will get better. Have a great day. Thanks for sharing
Fingers crossed 🤞

That’s a great field of grass It grew well after all the bad weather ,, how many acres ,, they will munch it down ❤
That particular pasture is about 10 acres

😊😊what do you do if the lambs catch lice ?
We use a pour-on down their back. It works extremely well!
I used to groom dogs. If my health was better I could shave down sheep. Lol
There is a huge demand. No one wants to work that hard!🙂

But it doesn’t. Sigh.
