I work at an Apple reseller and we have had issues even pitching this phone to clients. During the launch day everyone, and I mean, EVERYONE who asked about the 14 wanted only a Pro and no-one asked anything about the 14 and 14 Plus. Spec by spec (minus the 48mpix wide camera and slightly better battery) it's a 13. When there was 13 against 12 we had some clear differences, but this phone is essentially just shooting itself in it's foot considering that the 13 is still under production. My theory is that Apple received way too many A15 chips after the backlog cleared from the pandemic and normalized and they had no idea what else to do than make a phone with those chips, slightly make it better and slap an extra number on top.
" I mean, EVERYONE who asked about the 14 wanted only a Pro and no-one asked anything about the 14 and 14 Plus." Well, I guess this is what Apple was trying to achieve in the first place [obviously due to revenue motive], and by the looks of it, they have definitely stuck the right chord
What’s interesting is in his iPhone 13 review he even says “if you have a 12, you can skip the 13” Here it’s “if you have the 13 you can skip the 14” I’m curious when the base iPhone will be a big upgrade again
The iPhone 14 is my first flagship Apple device. Coming from a Pixel 7, I have a few observations. The battery life is awesome, speakers are solid, Bluetooth connectivity is seemless, and the screen is smooth, despite coming from a 90htz display on the Pixel 7, I haven’t really seen a huge difference on the 60htz screen on the IPhone 14. I absolutely love this phone.
Having lost my patience with Google and Android in general, I also switched from my Pixel 5 to an iPhone 14 last week. The 60Hz panel is excellent; the Pixel's shitty 90Hz panel flickers at half brightness and looks washed out as hell when night light is on. Not entirely shocked though because Apple seems to pick extremely good OLED panels for their phones; my X also had a great display.
Based honest review. People are starting to realize you don't need to upgrade yearly, or every other year. Your iPhone X is still a great device, ride it till the wheels fall off. The things like camera upgrades are cool for like a week and when/if you travel, but most people aren't using their cameras 95% of the time. I jumped to a 13 from an 8 plus and even the resolution change wasn't anything crazy.
This is how I'm feeling. I had my iPhone 8 for 4 years now. I would probably keep it a bit longer if It didn't start sucking. I'm going to switch to Android because in my experience they last longer unlike Apple nerfing older phones but yeah I'm not switching that for a few years either
@@joevictor53 hey i have something to ask you! I am currently using a samsung phone J7 prime which i bought about 4.5 years ago. And for me this phone is eprfectly fine til now and i wish ti use it until it completely dies. Like literally. Until the phone completely looses its purpose. Does not work. Cannot switch on. Etc. Until then i for sure will use my phone. And i think i should be getting about an year from now with this! I am planning to buy a i phone next. My current phone costed me like 250$ and if i am buying an i phone pro for 1k, I would definitely want to use the phone for AT LEAST 8 to 10 years. 😅 so could you please tepo me if an apple phone would actually last like 8+ years? I am also not a heavy user. I only use the phone for UA-cam, chats and google maps.
2:35 For most other countries, the only upgrades are the slightly Improved thermals and those slightly upgraded cameras. Other things either don't matter (colors, reparability) or just won't work like crash detection, satellite and eSim. For "Extra Pixels", like most people are mentioning here, it doesn't have any.
@@siddarthgandubilli2786 It does need special service. The whole point of the crash detection is to contact the law or medical authorities to inform them about the situation. This will not work in all countries. They would need to collaborate with these authorities first and tell them they could receive some automated calls like these in English language so they would have to have someone on the other side who can understand it properly.
@@usmantariq7997 what u didnt mention is that it also has the option to immediately contact ur emergency contacts if u have it set up, that is rlly helpful tbh. However, the emergency services thing isnt completely erased from the situation, you just have to manually call whatever the emergency service number is in ur country (instead of the autocall in the US) i honestly see myself using this if i get in a crash (i live in saudi arabia)
for a tech enthusiast like you this iPhone doesn’t have any “mind blowing” “spec touting” “number screaming” features, but for the majority of the consumers who buy new smartphones after 3-4 years this might be very significant… not everyone can afford to buy new smartphones every year… look and ask for those consumers making the big chunk of the market share and I bet they would not remember nor recognize Android have crash detection first, Huawei got satellite first, Pixel got the photo binding first, and what other manufacturers got first ‘cause for them they just don’t change smartphones every year…
Lol literally!! I’m so glad I got this phone.. but no matter what I went with, I would’ve upgraded on EVERYTHING. Came from the 8 Plus also so this was really new.

@@matiasmuttoni9044 Same, upgraded to a 14 Plus from an 8 Plus. *MASSIVE* difference. I don’t get why these UA-camrs always compare the current phone to the last phone. Virtually nobody upgrades their phones every year!
I like that Apple cares about my financial well-being and doesn’t make me want to buy their new phone. Truly inspirational and socially responsible company!
Buying Apple stock under $2 a share in 1997 and letting it grow and compound was inspirational to me and part of the reason I’m retired debt free in my 40s. If you are broke and in debt that’s a good attitude to have. You should think that way about all products and services.
Just checked the tech specs on Apple’s website, the iPhone 14 has the exact same display resolution as iPhone 13. It’s the iPhone 14 Pro lineup that got a slight bump in size and resolution.
I upgraded from the 12 to the 14. It’s a good upgrade. I feel the phone faster, less lag, and better 5G speeds and signals. The reduced notch is noticeable to me, and the screen is maybe a tad bit brighter. Honestly, this upgrade is barely worth it. But it is worth it.
I feel like it would be cool if Marques would show photos in really bad conditions. Every phone will take a good photo of a bottle in great lighting. What matters to me is whether I could take a picture of a fireplace in the dark, or a forest lit up by a flashlight, stuff like that. Then we could clearly see the differences between a good and a great camera.
Yeah for lenses it’s standard to take heavy crops, often from the edge of frame as a stress test, as it’s really only with those kind of extreme examples that large differences can be found.
Exactly. Those photos in a dimly lit restaurant, dusk evening outside, normal home lighting. Held in the hand. Maybe they need a rig that simulates holding in the hand so it's the same for all phones, but let's do it. These static, on a tripod, in good outside lighting aren't the normal photos people take. iPhone is supposed to have a good camera but it was very poor compared to Samsung galaxy, both 2-3 years old maximum. When zooming in the detail was rubbish on the iPhone photo. Lack of clarity, lot of noise. I was shocked. With the Samsung Galaxy we could zoom in. We were taking close up photos of skin, then zooming in. Try it with others to see which camera gives the most detail. We were wondering just how much a phone camera can work like a microscope 🙂
Unfortunately the “extra pixels” is one less thing that can be in the list of new features. If you look on Apple’s website, only the 14 Pro models have a slightly higher resolution. The regular 14 and 14 Plus screens are identical to the 13 and 13 Pro Max :/
The 14 does actually have more pixels and a slightly smaller bezel. If you look at the video at 5:05 you can clearly see the 14 on the right has smaller bezels.
But do you really need an improvement on screen? How close do you need to see your iphone screen, or do you have microscopic eyeball? The last one is sharp already ffs
3:29 The display is the same resolution as last year. The iphone 14 display is 2532x1170, the same as the iphone 13 and the iphone 12. The slight pixel bump and bezel shrinkage is unique to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
@@vincimuta4513 Actually the 14 Pro Max's display is 2796 x 1290. It's also has a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio (compared to XS Max's 1,000,000:1), 1000 nits max brightness (compared to XS Max's 625, 120hz refresh rate (compared to XS Max's 60hz), and smaller bezels. It's a far superior display; the XS Max simply has more pixels than the 14 pro because of its size. The pixel densities of the 14s are higher. Pure resolution does not tell the full story. The XS Max panel looks significantly worse. But better for sure than the XR/11 that came after.
Big part of the reason I upgraded from iPhone 12 to iPhone 14 was the satellite feature. I saw a car crash a few weeks ago, the driver was an elderly man who was run off of the road by a semi. I wanted to call emergency services but couldn’t because I had no reception - I had to drive 15 mins out from the location of the accident until I had bars. I never want to have that frustrating helpless feeling again, hopefully I’ll never have to use it but the satellite feature could be life saving.
The fact that that marques and his team are able to produce a review of a phone which is pretty much the exact same as it’s predecessor and make it as entertaining and interesting as all their other videos shows how good they are at what they do.

Great review, and shows that unless you need a good phone upgrade, you don't necessarily need to get an iPhone every year. For those considering a phone, look at the 13's especially with the sales or promos.
Or wait a bit longer if possible, the EU has demanded Apple switch to USB C in the (very!) near future, and that iphone will likely come with a lot of great changes. If anything, this year feels like a placeholder for just that.
What this means is the iPhone 13 mini didn't really miss out in 2022/23. I actually find the biggest improvement with the 14 is the potentially cheaper rear glass replacement.

I’d say the 14 pro review applies to the 14,if you have an iPhone 11 or newer there’s really no reason to upgrade unless the new colors and features matter to you and you have the money to spend.
I have an IPhone 11 and I would say it’s worth it now, because of the 1-120 Hz OLED-Display,Battery Life, better Camera and the dynamic Island finally looks like a new design since literally the IPhone X
Good point. The iPhone market has really changed from 5-6 years ago. Most of the changes are software not hardware. Apple make lots through software and accessories. Now they slowly update the phone like a car manufacturer updating their model slightly each year. And because of this iPhones hold their value really well and as someone who loves to have the latest tech, now I buy my iPhones second hand after they've been released for 2-3 years because they're almost identical (sitting on an 11, prolly get the 13 next year). Spend new iPhone money on other tech, it'll go much further.
@@emrefifty5281 I agree the Iphone 11 pro to the 14 pro is a dramatic difference in processing power in battery life the massive leap in resolution from 12MP to 48MP and way better low light performance.
I agree with the S naming. This year apple missed the opportunity yet once again to call these new iPhones the iPhone 13s. 13s this year makes even more sense than calling the 13 the 12s.
I believe that's it's a filler phone to give way to the new refreshed iPhone 15. Kinda like how they skipped the iPhone 9 for the X. This is basically the iPhone 9 for the 15
They didn't even change the chip. No one should buy this phone over the 13 unless they are planning on holding onto it for 6-8 years so they can get software updates for as long as possible. Even then it probably doesn't make any sense.
Crikey, always so calm, so intelligent, so informative, MB is just a whole ecosystem on his own. When you enter, the worlds cares go away, the top-notch info comes flooding in, and the reasoning, and the quality of the presentation is unmatched anywhere. Marques, you have done it, I waited for the 14 but I am going for the 13. Kudos to you.
The biggest problem is that the price of the iPhone 14 increased in Europe, it costs 1019€. And because of the current conversion between euro and dollar that's about 220$ more expensive, that's crazy! The iPhone 13 didn't even drop in price over here !
to make it easier for you to understand, in e.g. september 2021 1 euro was equal to 0,85 usd so an iphone that is 1000$ would be approximately 850€, meaning you get more value per euro rather than usd
This minor update really solidifies the 13 as a decent purchase in 2022. It makes much more sense to go for the 13 instead of the 14. Still a great phone, but important to look out for other possible phones 😂.
Regarding the extra year of software updates: iOS support is usually tied to CPU, and given that the iPhone 14 uses the same A15 as the iPhone 13 (but with 5 cores, so technically the same as the Pro and Pro Max), it would be strange if Apple would stop supporting it on the iPhone 13 earlier than on the iPhone 14.
I just opted for the 14 instead of the max this time around and I gotta admit it’s refreshing having a smaller phone and the battery is extremely good. I took my phone off the charger around 930 am and with medium use I’m at 56% 12 hrs later hahah
I’m with you I got home and was all disappointed after listening to people on UA-cam but honestly better life is insane the only thing I am missing is LiDAR and telephoto and I’m ok with not having them
save $200 too. I think the 14 is for ppl whose current phone is a few years old or more & want to upgrade to a bigger screen size. But for most ppl the 13 is the better value for sure.
Having used the fall detection on a watch, where I had an unfortunate crash on a motorcycle when I was alone, and then I woke up in an ambulance, because my watch called emergency services, to have the iPhone do that as well is worth every penny, even if you will probably never be in that circumstance. It alerted my location to both of my emergency contacts and updated them as I travelled in the ambulance towards the hospital . This feature cannot be overstated.
Definitely not an overstated feature for me as im well known in my family for being clumsy & falling over nothing lol i have an Apple Watch & banged my arm quite hard 1 day & the watch thought I’d fallen so i know the feature works
Just cause some fool somewhere wouldn't die, I'm gonna pay extra dollars for the new phone? I want mine without that feature, I'd rather die than pay more money for things I'll never use.
Ended up getting the 13 mini the day the 14s hit. The mini form factor is actually what got me back from Android land. Waited til the 14 came out so I could get a price cut on the phone I actually wanted.
Still holding to my 12 mini (prior had 11 Pro Max). I'm using my phone for it's primarily use i.e. making phone calls. For browsing I avoid the phone and use other devices. To each his own
I upgraded from the iPhone X to the 14 and Although I wish I went to the 14 pro, The 14 is still way faster, the camera is better, and the battery life has been solid all day!
Here in the EU, they kept the pricing of the 13 the same, no price drop (€909) and listed the 14 at a higher price of €1019. That really makes the 14 not an attractive buy.
@@homecinema4674 More like the U.S dollar can afford to keep iPhone prices cheaper than the EU aka the same fucking dollar price as last year, also if the iPhone 14 pro max has a dynamic island than the iPhone 13 Pro Max has the smallest static peninsula I’ve ever seen 😂 funny? LMAO
I think Apple has realized they're at the point of diminishing returns. They know that a very large chunk of their users are still using iphone 8+/SE. This phone is absolutely an upgrade for them. The pricing is also close enough for carriers to offer free/ reduced price upgrades for users of those phones still. The "little" upgrades like crash detection, photos, accurate colors in the display are a message to convince that last bastion of users to ditch Touch ID and that 5.5" display
If I’m one of those people with an 8+ would you recommend a 13 or 14? If 14 wld pro be better? I’ve never had a notch let alone dynamic island so am not sure which wld be easier to get used to.
haha i do have an 8 and i’m finally looking to upgrade so i am looking at the reviews to save money for the 13 or just upgrade to the newest phone to not worry about falling behind generations for several years
@@oliviagamboa3602 I switched recently from an 8 to a 13 Mini. Unless you’re looking to go for the 14 Pro and the extra/new features it entails over the other options, go for a 13.
Still keeping my 12 Pro Max. Seems like smartphones has hit a plateau in innovation. I just read an article that even the S23 will be pretty much the same as the S22.. IMO the only "cool" factors in newer phones is the foldables but I wouldn't personally buy a foldable device yet the screens are just too fragile.
Same phone as you, I don’t think anyone other than those on a 4yo XS (for camera) or a XR/11 (for display) need to upgrade. 11 Pro/12 and up, I think you’d be genuinely disappointed paying this much and having it feel so similar to your current device. As you said same with Samsung, S21 removed a bunch of features the S20 had and the S22 has smaller batteries than the S21. Foldables, even if they were more durable make no difference to the way I use my phone personally. I don’t want to be staring at a creased plastic screen, or have something double-thick to squeeze in my pockets. Even if I liked OneUI and was shopping for a Samsung phone I’d get a S22 Ultra NOT one of their foldables.
iPhone X or 11 that can be had for less then $150 are still great phones. They also offer an almost identical user experience then the “latest and greatest”.
I disagree about the s update thing, s update wasn't just a small speed upgrade, most s upgrades added a particular extra feature too, 4s added siri, 5s added fingerprint sensor, 6s added 3d touch etc
Ever since Apple announced the iPhone X alongside with the 8 and 8 plus I wondered where Apple was going with the lineup. When the plus models had some more advantages over the standard model and then have a newer base model and then pro models. I think Apple could stick with 2 iPhones per year with one being more standard with more updates specs and a higher end version that has more innovation. I think Apple is more messy with the lineup today considering the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are very similar. The pro models got more upgrades than the standard models do so Apple could’ve skipped updating the standard iPhone 13 this year.
I think that’s an incredibly bad take. Less choice is never the answer, and that’s literally what you’re arguing for. With your version of what you think their lineup should be, people who want a smaller size “pro” iPhone and people who want a larger size iPhone but at a lower cost would be left out. Also you say they should have skipped updating the 13 this year. What could possibly be the argument for that? Since when is it a bad thing to make something better? You’re arguing that they should keep it exactly the same instead of improving it ever so slightly like they did? None of what you said makes any sense.
Considering internationally the 13 Pro is still available, and given its dropping in price towards the 14, I think you should consider discussing a comparison between them. I also thought the new camera of the 14 was going to be same as the 14 Pro just spec'd lower to save on cost, guess they really just have a different camera (which I think if they're going to make it as similar to the 13, they really didn't need to do, could have been even cheaper).
It's only normal price in US and China? In other countries the price is so high. Iphone 14 is a dead end, slow 20 watt will be changed, next year usb c, EU law.
Iphone stops selling pros models after releasing new models and also the price of pro models normally doesn’t go now before it is wiped out from the market. U can find iphone XR in the market but not iphone 11 pro or 12 pro anymore. Same thing will happens will pro models of 13 soon
exactly, and after I realised this, I rushed to buy an iPhone 13 pro, cuz its a much better phone than iPhone 14 for the same price, but,.. ITS GONE FROM THE STORE!! bruh
The 13 vanilla series is available. Not the pro series. Apple does this deliberately so they don't cannibalise the sales of their new moderately improved pro series just released.
I gave my wife my iPhone 13 Pro Max, her older phone was the XS. She doesn’t like how heavy the 13 promax is , and the larger size is compared to her old phone so I took her to T-Mobile and bought her the 14 the one you were reviewing and she absolutely loves it because of the size and it’s a upgrade from the 10 X. The little things that makes our wife’s happy 😊 Mahalo for the Video!
If you look on Apple's website the resolution and definition of the iPhone 13 and 14 screen is absolutely identical, the difference is on the 14 Pro, which has 9 pixels more in width and 24 more pixels in height, because the precise size of the screen is 6.12" instead of 6.06"
Even though I just got the iPhone 13 from upgrading to the iPhone XR, I feel content . I like the 13 and everything you just mentioned it’s not a big game changer for me to want to run out and pay off my phone to get the iPhone 14 .

The eSim transfer process for my new iPhone 14 Pro Max was a nightmare. It took forever and for a while I had no service on either phone. I couldn't even call AT&T to get help. I think the reason it was so "seamless" for all of the reviewers is because they got their phones well before launch day.
AT&T also doesn't sell their higher end phones to prepaid customers either, so I have to pay cash at the Apple Store. Hopefully they don''t pull any "no prepaid eSIMs for flagship phone" shenanigans.
I own the 13 pro max, when I found out about the 14 I thought I took a massive L, however does not seem too bad the 13 pro max is an amazing phone too.
The only real reason to get it over a 13 pro max is the really interesting dynamic island feature. All future iPhones are probably gonna have it now so the next one you buy some years down the line will have it plus whatever else is new
jesus christ, is this what being an unhinged apple fan is? holy fuck calm down you got a good phone. The new phone is literally the same thing. Crazy how apple fanboys behave on the the Internet, man.
I wonder if Apple's idea is for people like me with an iPhone a couple generations old, is to have them upgrade to the 14 Pro instead of the baseline product. The 13 didn't make sense for me, and neither does the 14. I think it's a strategy to get some of the people spending more money on the more expensive product. Unless my iPhone 12 packs it in, I'm gonna hang onto it.
Bro, even thinking to switching from iphone 12 to another model is plain rediculous. Despite the 120hz Display, there is literally NO reason for a change in a normal daily life. Think about changing to an Iphone 16 or 17.
That's exactly what Apple is doing. The regular 14 mostly exists to get you to buy the Plus or preferably the Pro version. That's why the regular versions don't have a dynamic island. It's to let you see what you will miss if you don't buy the Pro so you buy the Pro instead to not miss out on the brand new features.
Iphone 12 users can wait until iPhone 16 or 17 lol. Why is there a need to update phones every 2 years? I rock a 12 too btw. It’s a great device and will be for at-least 3-4 years

Never owned a pro model before but upgraded to 14 pro this time because there is more to differentiate. I think that's what Apple was going for with this release.
Great video. Great explanation. But one of the upgrades missing on the list is Bluetooth version 5.3, up from Bluetooth version 5.0 from the previous iPhones

Not really though. Both crash detection and the sattelite features demand new hardware (sensors and antenna's). Also the inside layout has completely changed to improve thermals. Also the camera lenses are new. But yeah, it's minimal.
The color difference from the camera might just be a factory difference, happens to sensors all the time thats why with multicam you got someone correcting those colors to make all the cams look the same.

Firstly, Marques's video production is phenomenal, and secondly I think the iPhone 13 is the best phone to consider over the iPhone 14 because you get pretty much the same phone for a reduced price. Nobody is gonna be nitpicking the camera difference nor be using the satellite feature unless you're taking a trip to mount Everest. Crash detection is also a feature you can include over a software update and it shouldn't influence people to upgrade to the 14.

Upgraded to 14 from 8plus yesterday. 14 pros are no longer available and waiting for 15 pro to go on sale isn’t an option. Paid around $350 with tax and cover. So far I’m satisfied and like the smaller size and bigger screen (compared to the 8).

Also your voice is very peaceful and easy on the ears!! So glad I didn’t order the 14 yet and waited. Updating from an 11 to whatever’s next. Either I’ll get the 14 pro or just get the 13 to save money. Usually I wait for a few more years before updating, but my 11 is getting wonky and wish it took better pics. Thanks for the in depth and quality reviews!!!
I’m on a iPhone 14 pro Max and I’m loving it. Came from a iPhone 12 Pro so the bigger and brighter screen is nice along with the higher refresh rate screen. Also I got it in gold and it looks amazing aesthetically.
Just tells me that this generation is the one to skip in general. If the Dynamic Island is one of the Pro's main features and the 14 is largely unchanged it seems like Apple is just trying to maximize returns from the features they've developed. I'd imagine the next generation will have the dynamic island on the non-Pro model phones, and the Pro models will have much more significant upgrades -- maybe an entirely new body design altogether? Seems like we've entered iPhone 6s-8 territory. Minimal upgrades to a phone that's already very good.
Apple may not release the dynamic island for their base models for may be another 2 years. They are yet to release 90 and 120 hz refresh rates for their base models. They have quite a menu in front of them for the next few years.
Who cares what the design is? I literally don’t understand the obsession with wanting a new design. What else could they possibly do that they already haven’t done? They’re not bringing out a foldable phone anytime soon so what do you want round sides again like the old X and 11? I don’t get it.
At the end of the day it’s still a solid phone just wish they’d have gone 90hz it will be a solid upgrade for a lot of people. I was actually going to buy the 14 Pro and went with the 14 instead because I think the dynamic island is ridiculous but that is my own personal opinion and everyone has their own taste. I don’t regret my decision it’s a solid phone and I’ve had no issues with it.
This is an embarrassingly minimal update for the main iPhone. Genuinely was thinking of upgrading from my S10+ to potentially an iPhone before the keynote but nothing about this generation is really motivating me to even consider anything in the Apple ecosystem.
Best camera, best battery, 120hz promotion on the pro, better use of a camera cutout, the list goes on in ways it smokes your old bloatware ridden phone
@@sneauxday7002 okay, but my USB-C port, underscreen fingerprint reader, headphone jack, expandable storage, really damn good cameras (3 rear and 2 selfie), 120hz display have served me really well on this phone since 2019. The iPhone has benefits, the cameras and battery life are great (although I personally give the "best camera" edge to either the S22 or Pixel 6) and iOS does integrate with my MacBook far better than Android does, but the lack of real, substantial upgrades in the 14 mean that I have the same hangups that have kept me from making the switch with the 13. The lack of USB-C is still a deal-breaker when everything i own charges with USB-C. The notch is still way too big and the dynamic island isnt as nice as a hole punch for me. iOS 16 is starting to get close to the level of customization I'm used to on Android but it's still pretty far off. This upgrade is really damn frustrating because these are good phones, it's just incremental tweaks every year rather than substantive updates.

I just ordered an iPhone 14. Coming from a XS that frustratingly runs out of battery relatively quick. I also hate how hot the phone can get while wirelessly charging and/or while on FaceTime, and multitasking while video calling is sometimes impossible without the phone overheating. For me, the upgrade is worth it in terms of camera and software. Rn, I wouldn’t fork out $200-$300 more for the flagship iPhone because I’m trying to save money for other investments, and I decided to get on the next up upgrade program for future models. Next year I’ll get a max version and finally get the battery life I deserve 😂 sorry but the dynamic island isn’t worth over $1,000 imo. The iPhone XS was for me over 3.5 years ago jumping from a 7.

I have had my iPhone 12 PRO for two years. The battery isn't as good as it once was, but that's extremely minor. The phone still works perfectly, never slow, still plenty of storage and all around great phone. I saw the 13 and didn't think it was worth it to upgrade and now I see the 14 PRO and again, still don't see enough to make an upgrade worth it. Looks like I'm holding onto this phone for at least another year, maybe the iphone 15 will be different enough to make it worth upgrading. 🤷♂
I’m still holding to my iphone 11 pro max. It’s just the same when I first bought this phone. The 14 pro max is tempting but the difference is negligible compared to the price. For me to upgrade, I’m waiting for apple to ditch the lightning connector for the usb-c port.
I have the 12 Pro Max, and I share your sentiment. The battery definitely doesn’t last all day like it used to, but I’m just going to replace the battery, and keep rocking it until hopefully the 15 Pro Max comes out with something revolution. All these small, incremental features do not warrant upgrading every two years like it used to be in the past. The worse part is, they say that the Pros get the A16, but that’s barely any better than the A15. Apple is basically milking last-gen’s tech, and repackaging it with the 14’s.

Thank you so much for these informative reviews. I’m now happy to say I’m very pleased with my iPhone 13PM. I’ve had it for 4 months (Alpine Green) I can finally say I really do not need the 14 at all.
Sticking with 12 for another year, first iPhone I will take to 3yrs old, just may need a battery, but iOS 16 seems to have really helped on that front somehow
Same here. I upgraded annually since the iPhone 4 but gave it a miss last year and kept my 12 Pro Max as there didn’t seem much point. This year is the same. Also with the watch, I’m still on the S5 whereas before I always upgraded every year. Perhaps we have reached the point where there is not much more they can do with a phone or watch.

End of an era, no innovation, lightning cable is a dead end, universal USB c cable next iphone, slowest charging phone on the planet. Different price outside China and US.
Yes your probably right about the chips, but Apple should have reduced the iPhone 14 by £50.
Making a new, better phone every single year is basically insanity.
Well, good on them for not throwing good chips in the bin
What’s interesting is in his iPhone 13 review he even says “if you have a 12, you can skip the 13”
Here it’s “if you have the 13 you can skip the 14” I’m curious when the base iPhone will be a big upgrade again

I still have my 11 promax until it falls apart completely. I am not getting rid of it.
Was not crazy because it was just a 13
This is how I'm feeling. I had my iPhone 8 for 4 years now. I would probably keep it a bit longer if It didn't start sucking. I'm going to switch to Android because in my experience they last longer unlike Apple nerfing older phones but yeah I'm not switching that for a few years either

@@siddarthgandubilli2786 It does need special service. The whole point of the crash detection is to contact the law or medical authorities to inform them about the situation. This will not work in all countries. @@usmantariq7997 what u didnt mention is that it also has the option to immediately contact ur emergency contacts if u have it set up, that is rlly helpful tbh. for a tech enthusiast like you this iPhone doesn’t have any “mind blowing” “spec touting” “number screaming” features, but for the majority of the consumers who buy new smartphones after 3-4 years this might be very significant… not everyone can afford to buy new smartphones every year… look and ask for those consumers making the big chunk of the market share and I bet they would not remember nor recognize Android have crash detection first, Huawei got satellite first, Pixel got the photo binding first, and what other manufacturers got first ‘cause for them they just don’t change smartphones every year…

Yeah for lenses it’s standard to take heavy crops, often from the edge of frame as a stress test, as it’s really only with those kind of extreme examples that large differences can be found.
Good point

Unfortunately the “extra pixels” is one less thing that can be in the list of new features. If you look on Apple’s website, only the 14 Pro models have a slightly higher resolution. The regular 14 and 14 Plus screens are identical to the 13 and 13 Pro Max :/

Is it worth the upgrade from the iphone 12 to the iphone 14?
Big part of the reason I upgraded from iPhone 12 to iPhone 14 was the satellite feature. I saw a car crash a few weeks ago, the driver was an elderly man who was run off of the road by a semi. I wanted to call emergency services but couldn’t because I had no reception - I had to drive 15 mins out from the location of the accident until I had bars. I never want to have that frustrating helpless feeling again, hopefully I’ll never have to use it but the satellite feature could be life saving.

Great review, and shows that unless you need a good phone upgrade, you don't necessarily need to get an iPhone every year. For those considering a phone, look at the 13's especially with the sales or promos.

Yep, would agree I would say 12 just because it doesn’t have 5g and that’s something I love

I think Apple has realized they're at the point of diminishing returns. They know that a very large chunk of their users are still using iphone 8+/SE. This phone is absolutely an upgrade for them. The pricing is also close enough for carriers to offer free/ reduced price upgrades for users of those phones still.
Iphone 14 or 14ax .. what you think is better

12mini is fine
Bro, even thinking to switching from iphone 12 to another model is plain rediculous. Despite the 120hz Display, there is literally NO reason for a change in a normal daily life. Think about changing to an Iphone 16 or 17.
That's exactly what Apple is doing. The regular 14 mostly exists to get you to buy the Plus or preferably the Pro version. That's why the regular versions don't have a dynamic island. It's to let you see what you will miss if you don't buy the Pro so you buy the Pro instead to not miss out on the brand new features.

i want to buy 14 coz i like the size 6.1 but I'm a fraid that i would regret not having pro or pro max . what would I be missing?
@@salmahamad9889 the camera is alright. I do miss the zoom capabilities but if you can live without it then you’re good. The pro motion display is nice but again not a deal breaker
Am looking at the 13. I'd consider 12 if I get double the storage for same price.
i recently upgraded from the iPhone 8 to the 13, and i could never go back the camera is just incredible and the speed of the phone is spectacular. definitely recommend the 13! but the 12 is also a great option too!
Get the 13 or the 13 mini! If you like something small and easier to navigate in your pocket, the mini won’t be beaten.
I recommend the Iphone 13 mini. And the green color is just beautiful. Although I would suggest the Iphone 13 Pro if 120hz is important to you.
@@itsaxar9627I looooove the 13 mini, I bought mine less than a week ago with the intention of it being my forever phone. As someone who’s favourite colour is green and loves small phones, the 13 mini is literally a once in a lifetime device.
@@itsaxar9627And I’ll add that as a typical light user, I can’t get this phone under 60% charge. The battery is awesome.
Never owned a pro model before but upgraded to 14 pro this time because there is more to differentiate. I think that's what Apple was going for with this release.
Great video. Great explanation. But one of the upgrades missing on the list is Bluetooth version 5.3, up from Bluetooth version 5.0 from the previous iPhones
thats definitly worth releasing a brand new phone for
Ooh, wow! I can get a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a second less delay over headphones. I'm so excited! It's not like I have zero delay over a cable invented in the 19th century.

Just got my iphone 14 yesterday! Pro is out of my budget as I just started working ~ had never use iphone before this will be my first iphone :))
The display is from the 13 pro except for the pro motion. It’s also brighter with some extra pixels as compared to the 13. The bezels aren’t thinner; only 14 pros have a slightly thinner bezels.
Your dead wrong it’s not. Go check apples website.
I’m a year late but 7:09 you can see there’s a difference between the sizes one is just slightly thinner than the other
I don’t think we actually appreciate just how good his photography is. Some of us have gotten to witness him master a craft right in front of our eyes.
This phone is $1000 in India which is crazy. The pro max starts @ $1750. Just hope Samsung brings sufficient upgrades to S23 Ultra will buy that device for the Snapdragon 8 gen 2
That’s what you get for living in a 3rd world country

I love how the upgrade from an iPhone 13 to an iPhone 14 can literally be done by a software upgrade.
I agree.
Facts 😂
You love?
True
Not really though. Both crash detection and the sattelite features demand new hardware (sensors and antenna's). Also the inside layout has completely changed to improve thermals. Also the camera lenses are new. But yeah, it's minimal.
The color difference from the camera might just be a factory difference, happens to sensors all the time thats why with multicam you got someone correcting those colors to make all the cams look the same.
Bro it’s the same phone 😂

@@jssandhu3581 which is exactly my point
Firstly, Marques's video production is phenomenal, and secondly I think the iPhone 13 is the best phone to consider over the iPhone 14 because you get pretty much the same phone for a reduced price. Nobody is gonna be nitpicking the camera difference nor be using the satellite feature unless you're taking a trip to mount Everest. Crash detection is also a feature you can include over a software update and it shouldn't influence people to upgrade to the 14.
Crash detection uses new sensors.

Upgraded to 14 from 8plus yesterday. 14 pros are no longer available and waiting for 15 pro to go on sale isn’t an option. Paid around $350 with tax and cover. So far I’m satisfied and like the smaller size and bigger screen (compared to the 8).
I’ve come to appreciate and prefer you as one of the reviewers to listen to whenever there’s a new electronic gadget that I’m interested in for more info.
You would've felt the same had you gotten 13 pro max
@@OrakKhan pretty much
Just tells me that this generation is the one to skip in general.
That's why the Pixel 7 is gonna explode the competition imo, watch out
It's apple man they have no incentive to give any features to the "peasent" iphones
Who cares what the design is? I literally don’t understand the obsession with wanting a new design. What else could they possibly do that they already haven’t done? They’re not bringing out a foldable phone anytime soon so what do you want round sides again like the old X and 11? I don’t get it.
@@10ToesDownWithBass apple will get overtaken by at least the Pixel soon

Your gonna love the battery on this thing
Love your straight forward review. I was scared you’d be nice as to not piss them off. Great job as always!
I had a XR before for like 5 years before I got this phone. I like it so far. Not really in love with it though.

I’m exactly in the same boat as you.
