Awesome information..and don't mind being long winded either. If it gets the point across...so be it. Ok so now I have the same year but other issues are taking my time right now. I tried the switch to crank the engine just to see if it will pop. I called the owner who just bought this thing off of a kid that really tore it up...all kinds of parts missing. I've got to do a complete brake job with new calipers and hubs and master cylinder...ok getting off track a bit so I can't find a wiring schematic to make sure the relay is set right. There was a blue wire that was loose and a clip that looked like it used to house the blue wire. There was a blown fuse though and I had no idea that one of the fuses had been a spare. I hope you are still checking out your channel...thanks
Your video is great! Thank you. I had the same issue with a starter selenoid I bought on EBay for my 03 1100 VStar-could not finger out why I wasn’t getting power. I watched your video a couple mire times, then went back to my purchase history on Ebay. After enlarging the photo, I discovered that I had the same situation, I took it apart. I don’t have a way to connect that “tab” or the “bar” behind it. So rather than trying to reinvent the wheel, I’ll go back to Ebay and find a unit that has the tab on the B side, Thanks.
I've never bought any starter reley and I know why starter reley makes buzzing sounds and always charged your battery to get full voltage and then it will start first time and that's how I got my quad back up running and double check plugs from wires or any wet spot then yeah part from that Ive never had any issues since and so glad my reley still alive and most reley buzzing sounds trying tell you to charged battery up to get it up running without any buzzing sounds and hope it's helps everyone
I just put a new starter solenoid in my Yamaha Stratoliner this evening and I was a little confused about the B and M. B stands for Battery side and M stands for Motor side. The little strap was on the B side of my old and new one so that didn't trip me up.
Ok, Have 02 YZF-R1. Replaced : Battery/ Stator/ voltage regulator/ starter relay. Yet, when press to start, only fuel pump relay clicks. Lastly, only starts when I use screwdriver to bind terminals. " PLEASE ADVISE?'
Sir, when I press starter switch sometimes the motor wants to turn over but stops after a split second. If I attempt a couple times then it will eventually turn over and starts normal. Does this sound like a relay issue or a starter issue? When it does engage it starts like new but it’s acting as if there is a dead spot somewhere sometimes. Hard to explain. Try this…sometimes when I attempt to start, the starter try’s to engage but stalls, if that’s the correct term. This happens intermittently and maybe once out of 5 starts. I hope I’ve explained the scenario enough to get a reply. Thanks for the tip on the Brauns relay. Dan.
Isn't that a solenoid and not a relay? Yours appears to have the relay built-in with the solenoid. My 1998 Yamaha Timberwolf has a separate relay from the solenoid and I need to bypass the relay. Any advice on bypassing the relay?
I need one of this, but i can't understand the difference between starter solenoid of car and motorcycle! This item is starter relay and starter solenoid together right?
You can help me .. I have a Yamaha Majesty 250 model 2014 and there was a problem in the scooter .. I appeared code number 76 and since that does not work .. Do you know only what this number 76 symbol .. Please help me I am tired .. Greetings

cross the to main terminals with a screw driver .. if it does not crank your engine . the starter needs to be replaced . . Take the starter off and bench test it with a battery charger ..
+James Hoschek Get a new Battery and test it with a Milometer , if charging over 14 voilt , then replace the rectifier . Rectifer is trying to Hard to Charge a Bad Battery ..
my 2008 grizzly special edition eps went through some slush and been having problems so i have charge the battery all the time , something is draing the battery ,the engine comes on then the power steering light comes so i charge and its good for a bit then i have to charged again n once those lights come i can shut it off until i get home cause i wont be to start it ,its not long ride maybe 20 minutes tops
Took my 03 Yamaha Road Star Silver Edition for a ride yesterday and everything was fine, today I went out and when I tried to start it , nothing. Everything was lit up, I was in neutral but got nothing. Not a click nothing. Got fire going to switch but nothing happening. Can SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.
So should I use the old relay (the old part you had in this video) and just put the new stuff on it? Or should I use the new relay and use all the old small parts? Basically was what I was showed in the video what you installed on the quad?
I think you could but you should check to make sure there is continuity between the ring and the tab that goes to the Red wire in the harness. This lead energizes power to the key switch and back to the solenoid via the Red and White wire , typically.
I have an 07 r6 and every time I try turning the bike on it makes a buzzing sound which i layer found that it's the starter relay. do I have to charge the battery or...
I can't thank you enough for this info. Greatly appreciated! Got mine from amazon and it's wired wrong just like your video.
Good info, thanks. Fortunately, my replacement was wired correctly, but I felt more comfortable after confirming it with your video.
Thanks for the heads-up! I need to purchase a new solenoid for my Xv1600 Roadstar and will keep an eye out for this!

Had same issue of new purchase of relay. This relay also fits a 05 1700 roadstar. Thank you so much!!!
Cheers for this, I was about to start what would have been a long and fruitless electrical wiring search...

my battery exploded due to constant connnection thank you for the info to help fix problem
james schneider ...mine did the same. my cables got really hot. and my starter itself was hot
Same issue on my 2007 vstar. Just switched the black and red cables around. Didn't do all what you did.
Man I started my bike was riding it probably 15 minutes it shut down in the middle of the road and hasn't start started back up but does turn over
You ever figure the problem?
Ok, Have 02 YZF-R1. Replaced : Battery/ Stator/ voltage regulator/ starter relay. Yet, when press to start, only fuel pump relay clicks. Lastly, only starts when I use screwdriver to bind terminals. " PLEASE ADVISE?'
B is Battery wire , M is Starter wire
So neither of those are minus/ground?
@@roffstaff2844 no, they are terminals of a relay that closes and provides positive 12v directly to starter and solenoid simultaneously

I got one off of ebay last year and it burnt out this year, Frustrating.
The relay on my WR250R is making a buzzing noise, any ideas?

I have yamaha 250 raptor we keep changing starter and it breaks down again and it’s the stater why does do that if u may know
I need one of this, but i can't understand the difference between starter solenoid of car and motorcycle! This item is starter relay and starter solenoid together right?

Hi, I am looking for the electrical or wiring diagram, do you know where can I find it? thank you very much.
Did you say spare fuse?!?! I took mine off to get a new one.
Yep, the side with the jumper is fused. The opposite side is a spare fuse. They're under the rectangular, translucent plastic covers.
Good info!
My solenoid on my Grizzly is clicking. How do you test them to see if it works. I put a newly charged battery in and the it wont kick in.
cross the to main terminals with a screw driver .. if it does not crank your engine . the starter needs to be replaced . . Take the starter off and bench test it with a battery charger ..
Dead Battery I think my Rectifier is over charging my battery. 17.85 amps it is putting out
+James Hoschek Get a new Battery and test it with a Milometer , if charging over 14 voilt , then replace the rectifier . Rectifer is trying to Hard to Charge a Bad Battery ..
Wat wire goes where on the relay
I have a 2006 r6 and if the key is of and I push down on the relay positive side bolt the bike will turn over anyone know what this could be
mine is not even making a clicking noise or anything battery is good though any suggestions?
Can you please tell me what wire goes the b side an m side? The black wire going from the starter motor goes to what side?
my 2008 grizzly special edition eps went through some slush and been having problems so i have charge the battery all the time , something is draing the battery ,the engine comes on then the power steering light comes so i charge and its good for a bit then i have to charged again n once those lights come i can shut it off until i get home cause i wont be to start it ,its not long ride maybe 20 minutes tops

I have a Yamaha Rhino 660 and it's not getting fire to the spark plug. Can you give me some ideals to fix this issue? Thanks

Shit happen to me to what fix it

HoweSound , Use the small parts on the new relay. it's the new relay you want to uae
Couldn’t you simply just leave it how it was but hook up the battery wire to the m and the starter wire to the b?😒
I think you could but you should check to make sure there is continuity between the ring and the tab that goes to the Red wire in the harness. This lead energizes power to the key switch and back to the solenoid via the Red and White wire , typically.
Thanks
Will do
Thks
All Yamaha uses these. Even the streetbikes
Why is my Yamaha clicking
Be sure the battery has oner 12 volts
changed relay and bike starts but only if I hold down the green starter button. When I release it cuts offs? do I have something backwards?
will this stop it from getting spark?
no . that would another issue

BullyMeBoy yes make sure battery is fully charged . weak battery will make you think the relay is bad
Check battery first . before changing relay
