Hello Walkers. IT. IS. COLD!!! the temperature is -25C / -11F. In todays virtual walks for treadmill by City Walks, I take you around Bozeman, MT. That is pretty cold for treadmill walking scenery but I am willing to bundle up and brave the weather to make these walking tours for treadmill for you guys. :-) Seriously though, while it is cold, it’s nothing too unusual for Montana. I bundled up and dressed appropriately and the virtual walking trails for treadmill part was easy. There was barely even a breeze today. We start down town and you can see the temp on the bank signs. We’ve also gotten a bunch of snow and we walk around Downtown Bozeman as even more snow falls.
Our virtual walking tour takes us down Main Street which is snow packed and busy. We walk by several restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, and gift shops as well as new buildings and office space. The Baxter Hotel, which is not a hotel rises in the snow. The Armory and the Element as well as the Lark. There are two theaters downtown as well. The catholic church is across from Wells Fargo and next to First Interstate bank and the Emerson is a block south of those. We take a brief detour into the South Side neighborhood before going back to downtown and walking some alleys
We hope you enjoy our hiking 4k walking tour today. It’s still cold but supposed to warm up a bit next week. These virtual hikes for treadmill are fun to make and they help get me outside. You can walk along, go for a virtual treadmill run, or just watch and relax on the treadmill scenery walk as I chat and point out restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and other sites and things to do in Livingston. 4K city walks succeeds due to your support and feedback so when I ask for comments, I really do mean it. Reading your personal stories really motivates me to keep going and making more scenic walking videos for treadmill.

Hi thanks for this Bozeman walk, another cold, cold one !! An update on Scottish weather, Glasgow E/K area, we have had our best snow cover ever, for the whole of last week ! 4 or 5 inches and stayed well below 0°C all week. Wonderful walk, Henry. It’s amazing how folk can grumble about silly things in this climate. I have no problem with your voice or clearing your throat. Many thanks for your help taking me around Montana. The temperatures here only reached minus 8c last week, which is positively warm compared to where you live. Looking forward to more of your walks. Loved living in Bozeman back in the day. Mixed feelings about the changes--and how fast it's happening. Almost everyone I knew who didn't purchase property has left. People with decent paying jobs are being forced to move.
If the housing price trend doesn't reverse soon the only people left will be the rich, MSU students & faculty, and a service worker underclass
I don't think it will ever reverse. Best we could hope for is to stay flat. even in 2008, it only slowed down. Thanks for watching. -H
Grew up here..it makes me sad that it has changed so much..but as he walks on the side streets I see some of the old houses that have always been there..that made me smile. I could never afford to live there now
Yikes, it's cold there! No negative temps for us here in Richmond, but we have been getting ice storms, so that's put our daily walks on hold for a few days. We always say that snow is always nice...when you can be indoors and stare at it from a distance lol So, thanks for braving that and the cold to give us this cool video :)
Ice storms are so much worse than snow. Things warmed up here for a few hours and then refroze turning the roads to junk. Hang in there an thanks for the comment -H
I just had to move away from Bozeman due to Covid and job loss but man I loved the downtown there. Overall a very walkable city and a free bus system when your too tired.

Hi Henry, great respect to you for your dedication. Walking in such temperature is not the most pleasant. Thank you very much for being able to switch to room temperature treadmil with you. We have a thaw in Poland and at the end of the week they promise + 10 C. I remember how 30 years ago the average American associated Poland as a country at the end of the world and where polar bears run around the streets. Soon, palm trees will start to grow in Poland like in Florida. This is of course a joke. Greetings from Warsaw.

The drivers in this video had my anxiety spiking sometimes lol. Saw a SUV jump a whole curb coming in to park (Red Ford Edge?). Heard a couple of pickups with seemingly bald tires. That’s how I know this was a great video. Was totally immersed 💯

Never experienced such cold. I am in West Cornwall in the UK, it was -2 centigrade a couple days last week, so relatively balmy.
Everything is relative. We spent a month in Devon a couple years ago but never quite made it over to Cornwall. Such a lovely part of the world. Stay warm and take care. - H

Wow really cold there buddy!! Although not as low as your friend in Aberdeen has had it, here in the south of UK it's been exceptionally cold. too. Thames actually froze over in one place.1st time for over 50 years apparently. Used to believe these temperatures killed off germs but doesn't seem to apply to Covid unfortunately!

Suggestion? You could do the Sunrise cemetary in springtime where Nelson Story and Isaac Rouse are buried. And a really cool one would be at Karst up the Gallatin canyon, maybe tell about Pete Karst and his days there when he had a lodge and guest ranch. ( He was the mail man for the canyon in horse and wagon days and also owned a mineral mine in the area). Across the river he had a still in a cabin over in the forest on the hill a bit south and west. There was a trail there in the 60's you could walk around on over there. . .

The Beaverhead Ranch was just purchased from the Koch family.
Locally it's pronounced "Kotch" but that could be a localism. I'd be interested to know if there really is a connection. -H

@@CityWalks Thanks. I had no idea that the entirety of humanity has also been moving to Bozeman just now, too. I fell in love with Yellowstone in 1975 and hope to have easier access to my favorite park in retirement. Just looking to rent, which is challenging enough. The real estate folks of Bozeman seem to be in need of shovels for the cash that is raining down on them. I feel like Bozeman is the new Jackson, WY.
@@deanbaird Pretty accurate metaphor for the real estate market. It got put on too many "Best places to..." lists. I'd suggest Livingston, but the rental market here is even tighter. You could try down in Paradise Valley though or maybe West Yellowstone. Best of luck, it's still a great place. -H
@@CityWalks Thanks. I’d love to be in West Yellowstone, but I think that town is too small to support much in terms of long term rentals/apartments. Heavy on VRBOs/AirBnBs. I am keeping a browser tab open on Idaho Falls. Seems to be the same distance as Bozeman from Yellowstone, but not being mobbed as Bozeman is. I have friends in Bozeman, so the scale is tipped in its favor. Prices are so much better in Idaho Falls, though.

Actually, -11 is not anything unusual for Bozeman and the snow this year doesn’t amount to much. Far more snow two years ago.

Mint or lozenge or cinmonon hard candy might help with you throat and nose might be hassle while talking but you could take it before or after the walks

We usually only get a week or two of weather like this so we put on our long johns and tough it out. I feel for the people who have to work outside though. -H
