    Thank you. You've answered so many questions I had in my mind. And so clearly with the demonstration. It was very enjoyable to watch. I have two more questions, how do you clean out the pillow on which you work? And when you're at a brand activation event, do you still outline with the sharpie? Thanks for taking the time to respond.

      You’re most welcome and I’m so glad you found my video helpful and enjoyable to watch. Thank you so much for the lovely comment! 🌸 To answer your questions, I clean the pillow using a small handheld vacuum to get all the dust out, and yes I do still outline with a sharpie or similar pen from other brands when I’m at an activation as it’s really important to get the spacing and sizing right. Hope this helps. 😊

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much Joyce! You will probably need some sort of transfer paper to trace onto glass. It can be tricky as pencil won't really show on glass so you'd still need to use an ink marker of some sort. Alternatively, you can also try tracing onto a washi/ masking tape then applying that tape onto the glass and engraving over it. But the cleanup/ removal of the tape after can be a little messy but certainly doable. Maybe give that a try?

    I love this amazing video very helpful! However I would like to know if the “ Rub’N Buff” paint permanent?

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much, Lizzy. I’m glad you found it helpful. 😊 Rub ‘N Buff is waterproof and permanent in that it has good staying power being wax and oil based so it’s better than paint or spray paint. But if scratched with a hard surface, it could still scrape off.

  • @lucianaman8859
    @lucianaman8859 3 роки тому +1

    Does the Rub n Buff resist dishwashers? Like for example you make a drinking glass and you want to wash it. Does the Rub n Buff get washed away?

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому

      It is waterproof but the chemicals in dishwashing tablets will lighten the Rub n Buff over time. So yes, it could get washed away after a few rounds but if it does you can always reapply. Or handwash the drinking glass with mild dish soap. Hope this helps. 😊

    Hi! I love your gorgeous work. I’ve recently started trying to learn how to engrave glass. I’m using a micro motor drill at 35,000 rpms but I’m not even making a scratch on the glass. Any advise? I’d really appreciate any tips. I’ve been researching and watching videos but no one else seems to have this issue. TIA

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому

      Thanks so much for your kind words, Valerie! I'm glad to hear you've started your engraving journey. I don't have experience using a micro motor drill but I wonder if it could be the bur that you're using? The motor itself should work fine but if you're not even making a scratch on the glass, my guess would be the bur used may not be suitable for glass. They come in various sizes and tips - some are more suited to metal, wood and plastic. Sorry if I'm not of much help but I hope you find a solution soon as I'm sure you'd love the process of glass engraving. 💚

    • @alierem4266
      @alierem4266 Рік тому

      Your Q's can not be answered here as such details are known to micromotor users, unlike demonstrators here.
      M'motors are much more durable, cost more but they are truly tough tools to use great part of a day by professionals, including jewellers and general jewellery and awards engravers each day. Nail buffing machines are less caoable to last over sevral hours work.
      Using industrial diamond crusted tips is suitable to mark glass.
      Be careful in choosing size & shape of such burrs. Dental suppliers & jewellery tool suppliers will assist with details on range of these. gd luck

    Woow beautiful work! How do you control or any tips when engraving... sometimes my hand or the tool wants to move into a different direction

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  2 роки тому

      Thank you so much, that's really kind of you. I completely get what you mean especially with a slippery surface like glass. I'd say it comes with practice - the more you engrave the better control you get as your hand gets used to the vibrating bur when it touches the smooth surface. A good tip is to rest the side of your hand on the edge of the heat pillow or whatever you're using to hold the bottle in place. That helps give your hand better support as well.
      Happy engraving and keep it up! 😊

    Is there a way to put a stencil for the lettering rather than free handing? I'm scared I wont center it correctly

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому

      Yes, you can try using a soft stencil or one made out of paper for curved surfaces like a bottle. But I would only use it to write and mark the letters on the surface, then removing the stencil prior to engraving. Engraving with a stencil on may be tricky.

      Thanks for clarifying your question. 🙂 It really depends on where you live and what the median wage is like. You need to factor in your time and the tools required. Essentially you want to ensure the price will cover your time and skills involved. Hope this helps.

    Can I get that engraver in discount?
    Or is there similar product with a lesser price?

      Glad you love the engraving process. I think Ink Me This has the occasional sale or discount sometimes but I'm not 100% sure. Best to sign up to their newsletter to be kept informed. There are other hand engraving tools at various prices but their performance will vary as well. Hope this helps. 😊

    😍😍 Very helpful video thank you for sharing! Do you have any tips for engraving champagne bottles? I heard they can be tricky

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much and I’m glad you found it helpful. 😊 You’re right about champagne bottles which is why I avoid engraving on them due to the safety risks. You could try a lighter hand while engraving but I would err on the side of caution, especially if gifting it to someone else. Happy engraving!

      May I know what's the difference between a champagne bottle vs a wine bottle?

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому +1

      @@littlellamblet due to high air pressure in champagne bottles compared to wine bottles, there can be a risk of injury if the thickness of the glass is compromised. Hope this helps. 😊

    • @littlellamblet

      Do u mean that champagne bottle glass is thinner than wine glass bottles therefore may be more risky in case it cracks during engraving? Sorry if it's a silly question

    • @TheStyleGene
      @TheStyleGene  3 роки тому

      @@littlellamblet not a silly question at all. 😊 The glass on the champagne bottle will be thinner after engraving, thus increasing risk of injury. Hope this helps.
