I have my ankle and heal my right foot is missing. This carbon fiver brace is not getting it. This situation is very rare unlike a below the knee situation. Somebody help
Having a great prosthetic foot is not the end all be all. If my socket does not fit well and l have limb pain due to that poor fit what foot l have under that socket does not matter.
I hear it's good but has limitations. I am a BKA, have run a Spartan race and currently play tennis. Osseointegration would not work for me as there's only so much stress on the bone it can take. Even with AK amputee's there's limitations. It's up to what life style you want to live. Having my amputation allowed me to be more active.
I would kill to have my life back. I got sick weeks after I met my future husband. I was sick and my doctor down played how bad my anemia was. because she said I would be fine. but because I had Anemia it made my body weak. I went to the ER for help. But I was not "Sick Enough" by the time I got help. they told me I would need a below the knee amputation On my left leg. I had a bone infection that made a home on the metal nail that was put in my leg in 2006. Ever since then my life has gotten bad. my first prosthetic was a nightmare. I could not put it on by myself. My husband could hardly put on. The leg I have know not much better. But I am scared to walk on it because I have fallen 6 times in 6 months. My doctor is giving me a brace for my right leg. And now I am getting a corset and joint prosthetic. But I know its not going to work well because my clothing wont fit over it.. I would kill to have a great prophetic that's more like a real leg. I can't ride a bike because there is no way to flex the left ankle. I miss riding my bike
no, no you do not.... as an amputee i can tell you that you really do not want it... every task is much more difficult, and crutches become a part of your life, for the rest of your life. Wake up in the middle of the night and have to pee? either get the crutches or spend a few minutes getting your leg back on to go to the bathroom, then you're wide awake and good luck getting back to sleep. Or the amount of times you have to add or remove spacer socks throughout the day. Or the literal puddle of sweat in the warmer months when taking your leg off after a long day.

auzzie1139 What do you think about osseointegration to replace the socket with a bone-anchored interface?
