I still own my 2005 (original owner) S500 W220 today. It run perfectly smooth and quiet with proper maintenance and I strongly recommend Shell premium gasoline for this vehicle.
The big daddy of all luxury sedans. I had the chance to ride one, which had fully decked out rear seat - recline, leg rest, massage, and heated/cooled.
Hands down, I'd take the Mercedes S 580, especially in that awesome spec of Green/Brown - what a stunning combination. The S class encourages buyers to add features, and even the neighbors will never let you forget the options you declined. Frugal car people are advised to stay clear of the Mercedes S class as saving money is Not an option. Awesome car and awesome drive review, Miles.
@@danielmiller9012 I wish we can optioned up AMG line with executive seats. It’s a bummer that we couldn’t. Exterior look of the Executive line isn’t great
@@MilesPerHrWhy did they need some more? literally nobody besides reviewers testing the rear seats is going to be back there. They should bring the SWB to NA as well. A majestic driver's car.
I chose the S500, used the $7000 savings VS a V8 to up my comfort options and picked it up yesterday. The S500 is very similar in performance, silky smooth and technologically more advanced vs V8. In any case, either S500 or S580 is an excellent choice, can’t go wrong.
During the last two years I've had a Continental GT (2020) and a S8 (2021 facelift, because Bentley postponed the ordered GT Speed four times). Yesterday I got me a S580 4M. This is my first S-Class since a 1982 380SE I bought in the early 2000s when I was young and some 560SELs which I had in my oldtimer collection a few years ago. When the W223 was released I didn't care. I didn't like the rear ("nice Hyundai") and I couldn't believe Mercedes was serious putting this interior into a car. Well...I'm absolutely in love with the car. The 4.0 V8 is great and, what I couldn't imagine month ago, I love the interior and all that technology stuff. I mean, I loved KNIGHT RIDER when I was young and now the Merc talks to me and does as I want it to do. And even if it doesn't jump, there IS a Turbo Boost... 😎 Really, this car is fantastic. The S8 was great as well, but the S-Class is a bit more modern and the MBUX is a decade more advanced than anything else.
I had an s560 and just switched to a bmw i7 after testing the i7 and s580. IMO, i7 is superior in tech, luxury, and ride. Once i sat in I7 the decision was easy.
Which vehicle were you more satisfied with, the s580 or the recently reviewed m760i? I wonder how you felt when compared in various aspects such as luxury, ride comfort, and driving texture.
I don't know if anyone noticed at 10:40 where the lane assist kicked in and it used AR in the head up display to mark where the lane was with the red lines! Stellar attention to detail!
Hi Miles… I just took delivery of my 2022 S580. Has about 10,000 miles on it. Your review was spot on I sampled the Audi, the Porsche Panamera and the BMW. I chose the S5 80. Your reviews are fantastic. You really helped me make my decision. Thanks again for your hard work on your reviews!
It's very conservative but definitely prettier than the 7er. The somewhat kitschy Maybach version, with its extra bling, betrays everything that makes the S desirable to me.
Dear Miles, Thanks for your goods reviews. The S8 has to be compared to the S63 (coming soon), not to the S580. And, the 130mph top speed is in your state. In some US states and in the majority of countries, the S580 top speed is limited to 156mph. And, your are right, “it’s the S580” the one to be proud to drive every single day. Merry Christmas.
A super majority of the S580 and S500 models coming to America are electronically limited to 130 MPH. It's just something Mercedes does and won't Burge about it unless you get the AMG which is 155 or you get the European delivery. I'm on my 9th S class and all have been limited to 130. It used to be easy to remove that with a tune but when Mercedes switched to the 4L engine, the tune does not remove the top speed limiter. To remove the limiter in those engines starting in 2018 S560, you have to also do a CPC tune where the limiter is. RENNTech ECU tune is $2800 and about the same for the CPC tune as well and you have to buy the ECU tune in order to buy the CPC tune. Is it worth it? I don't thing so
Personally, I think the previous generation looks better. This new generation lacks the stately elegance of the last. I personally don't think there was any need for Mercedes to launch an all-new model. They could have simply put some new mild hybrid engines and added MBUX to the W222 and it'll still outsell the competition. And it would look a whole lot better than this car. This W223 may be better looking than the new 7 Series, but on the question of aesthetics alone, I think the last generation W222 (post 2018 update) beats them both.
I think the new 7 series looks better because you can actually tell it's a new 7 series with the unique design, vs this "new" s class that looks reminiscent of practically every other sedan model Mercedes has (minus the A class).
Looks nice but it seems most of the American specs lack so many features that make the interior too basic. Not even a climate control for rear seat passengers. Such features should be standard in an s class. I wonder why.
I appreciate the conservative exterior looks but the LCD overkill ruins the interior for me. The center screen…eEeEeEeEeEeEeEhH fine whatever. But that gauge cluster is so poorly implemented imo and looks like a complete afterthought.
The spirit of sports cars is slowly eroding. Look at all the useless electrical gadgets on the dashboard 🤣🤣. Looks like more expensive fixes in the future.
Wow thats honestly a disappointing spec, no rear heated or cooled seats?!? not even rear climate control either? I mean come on the thing is 130 grand of pure luxury.

Those options add up quick, Edd! But the rear seats of this model needed some more
I think the most important options are exclusive nappa leather, 3d tech package, and 4d sound system.
and getting it in the AMG or Executive trim

The 500 & 580 are identical except for the fact that the 500 has a V6 engine and the 580 has the 500 hp V8.

Yes, it' s more good looking than the L 7 series
Amazing Mercedes-Benz !!
Audi S8 has the nicest interior (integrated displays and coherent design). S-class nicest exterior. 7-series probably the most satisfying to drive.
Stop talking.

2:06 min - yes, this is waaaay better looking than the new 7 Series!! 👍
Everything is better looking than the new 7 series but yes it is
Great review brother! I like the interior of the new 7 series but my money would go to the Mercedes. I just like Mercedes limousines so much.
I will choose the Mercedes-Benz S580 4Matic. That's a real masterpiece.

Dream mercedes!!
The s580 ❤
Excellent color combination with emerald green and brown leather.
The paint is absolutely beautiful
7 series looks like a joke. The s class will always remain the king of true luxury sedan.
*new dream trim 😍
No because they have the Maybach and thats the Top of Luxury by Mercedes.
Mercedes is king
I'm still not feeling the rear end, but I really like the front end.
heyy can you do an amg gt review? btw love your videos
Thanks for the love! Been trying to get into the AMG GT-R, but it's been tough. Hopefully one day!
Audi s8 when he meets s63: finally, a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!
Nobody in Germany would buy this V8 500 HP car with 130 mph topspeed 😂
Why is that ?
@@ashegheaty 130 is nothing on the autobahn
@@sehunkimm oh i see , but know the s class buyers dont think like that !

It’s only limited to 130 in the US
i absolutely love the S580 and everything about it but i’d probably go S8
Obviously a performance oriented model over a non performance model
Yeah I would pick this over the 7 series but I would actually prefer the equivalent powered Audi A8 over this.
I wish carmakers tried harder to properly integrate the dash screens. They often stick out like glued on tablets.
That color is amazing
That is a luxury car
Seriously?
I thought it's an economic family seven seater.
amazing review
Glad you enjoyed it!
would love to see a brabus review in the future. love these videos!
You and me both! Trying to get in touch with them, but no response so far 😞
just based on looks im choosing the S580 over the 7 series. but I like the 7 series interior better
I can only afford a pre owned 2010 toyota corolla, so this is perfect content for me 😅😅😅

I would say it looks 1000 times better than the new seven.
Car is so epic.
how many miles do you think your ctv5 will last? think it’ll last 200k?
Good question! Time will tell, but I'm hoping for at least 150K

S8 if I had to have 1 car, s580 if I get an m2 comp as well 😁

Can you tell me how to turn on this light who you can change to the hiters
how does it compare to a phantom or ghost?
Maybe the hickup is because of the start stop function turning on rapidly , its extreem in bmws
It's possible, but I've experienced the long startup delay in other MBs with the latest infotainment software

These cars are good for 50k miles then they're worthless
Nice high end car
What's that constant flashing on the dash near the clusters
Nice Review but I will go with a Tesla Model S for less.
How's the 4d sound system compared to Naim for Bentley? I hear Naim only slightly better but they're the 2 best out right now.
I know this specific one doesn't have it but I know you've heard it
Should have the new 7 series or go to the s class?
can you do a review of Corvette Z06? I’m thinking of buying one 😊
