Hi Frank, It really comes down to how much you want to spend so your local tackle shop should be able to guide you on this one. As you saw I was using Barbel Rods, not exactly designed for what I was using them for but expensive rods, I think they were £299 each in their days, so a really good blank and fittings and so versatile. I would look at a 12ft, 1.25lb test.
You've got a great way of explaining things. Simple and easy. Wish I lived a bit closer, I'd book you for a tutorial.
