      When we were down in the drainages, we did pass a few hunting camps and met one hunter on trail, but other than that, not a soul!

    Great video, Travis! We only discovered your channel a couple months ago but it has quickly become our favorite. You do a fantastic job of putting these videos together. Next best thing to actually being there. Missed Timber on this one. Hope his health continues to improve.

      @mountainwanderer  Місяць тому

      Yeah, we took a chance on it. I wish that I would've captured it on film, but at the top of the pass we could see the mountain we were trying to get around and it looked like a sheer, vertical rock wall. I'm glad we pushed on anyway, it was a little bit of adventure

    I've been hiking up the Lostine river there near the horse camp during late summer. Some of those meadows have beautiful snap dragons growing all over the place.

    I've been going back and enjoying some of your past video's, looks like this trip went well also 👌 looked very relaxing. The wife and i started doing trips in there the last cpl yrs and are very excited to continue. Do you see very much wildlife on your trips into the Caps? Besides a cpl elk and Mt Goats we havent seen much as far as deer/elk

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Місяць тому

      No, we haven't seen anything. I didn't get a recording of it, but when we were camped at Hidden Lake, some elk came up into the basin and started bugling! I was bummed that I couldn't capture it.

    Thanks for sharing, I’m disabled now and can’t hike or backpack anymore. You guyz might think about getting a drone for awesome photography

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Місяць тому +1

      I do use a drone. You're not allowed to fly drones in wilderness areas and that is something that we respect. I do have other videos in the Bitterroots with a lot of drone footage in it.

    I've been there many times. We camped there in the mid-'60s. We would spend 14 days there and never see a soul. In fact, the only time we ever saw anyone was one time a forest ranger happened into our camp. That used to be sheep country. There were sheep camps there through the summers. We use to have a lot of trouble with deer, They just never seen people and they would make a nuisance of themselves coming into camp and getting into things.

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Місяць тому

      I would've loved to been in that country back in the 60's. I can imagine that it felt very remote!

    Finding that game trail was a piece of luck.

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  Місяць тому

      It was! In parts it looked like a well-used hiker trail, but then it would shoot straight up the mountain and we were going hand over hand.
