    Sometimes you watch an athlete and know they're special without knowing the time - Watching Phoebe is one of those times. What an absolutely beautiful runner - Long smooth stride, powerful clean arm carriage, you could balance a tray on her head even when fatigued... No wasted energy; Just fabulous to watch her glide around the track.

    Phoebe Gill est incroyable. Une qualité de course phénoménale. Elle n'est pas fatiguée à l'arrivée et n'est pas essoufflée. Alors que les autres filles cherchent leur souffle. Ça veut dire que la marge de progression de Phoebe Gill est énorme. Si elle part très vite au premier tour, elle peut asphyxier tout le monde et peut terminer très vite au deuxième tour. C'est peut-être Phoebe Gill qui battra le plus vieux record du monde de l'athlétisme, celui de Kratochvilova de 1'53"28 qui date de 1981. Yes, she ran this in Manchester which backs up her previous 1.57.87. Phoebe always runs the first lap exceptionally too fast. If you think about it, this must be her method to keep improving, as she has coaches. However let's see when she runs 57 or 57.50 how she does overall? The British championships end of June should be interesting if she can grab the 3rd place for the Olympics?

    That time after an almost suicidal first lamp which left her on her own is extraordinary. 56/61 will become a 57/58 in a higher class race I would have thought, no problems at all.

    • @bernardm2528
      @bernardm2528 4 місяці тому +2

      You got the right thinking. Try half second or a second slower first lap so would be 57.06 or 57.56 to be precise and see how Phoebe does on 2nd lap then. Perhaps only marginally better but still better at this young stage to get 1.57 maybe. Phoebe is 1500m runner so got the stamina as remarkably she held on, but perhaps not got the 400m speed yet to do 57/58, and 1.55 to take British record from Keeley Hodgkinson, just quite yet?
      It would be interesting to see what she can do for 1500m this season also?

      Yes and Keeley was just about running 2.03.40 at 17 and 1.57.51 at 19 until she did 1.55.88. However Keeley trains, particularly hard so I'm hoping Phoebe can do the same. She backed this up with 1.58.08 despite running 55sec on first lap and just able to jog last 50m. When Phoebe runs a little slower on the first lap 57 or 57.50 maybe her overall time will improve this year? British championships will be interesting to see how she does? Just not sure in a race setting with others, level with her, how she will cope?
