Did you make it to nationals? Did you use 2-layers w/ carbon fiber mesh only? How much did it weigh? It looks great, but maybe you can reduce the weight by reducing the thickness and the draft. It is still higher than necessary when 4-large adults are in it. Thank you.
This was our first trial. We are planning to conduct the nationals in India. We used just one layer of glass fibre mesh ( although, two was required). We used two 12mm thickness layer. Yeah, in the unloading condition, the draft was very less. Our density was 1200 kg/m3. Happy to hear more. Thank You.
How much did your overall canoe weigh? We use 2-layers of carbon fiber mesh offset and overlapping from each other, a female Styrofoam mold with car wax as a releasing agent, let it cure under a misting system for about 2-weeks. Ours weighed about 260 lbs or 118 kg. One thing I noticed other schools do that we will incorporate next year is to use a metal mesh in the bow & stern ends for extra reinforcement. We placed 5th overall in the SW ASCE Regional Concrete Canoe competition and it was only our 4th competition. There were 36 other schools that we competed against. Each year we get better and better. The first year we almost placed last. I would like to try using pre-tensioned cables, but my co-team members and officers probably will play it safe and make the same canoe as last year with minor improvements.NATIONAL CONCRETE CANOE COMPETITION 2015
Maxwell Goodacre The overall weight of the canoe is about 170kg. We used one layer of glass mesh. however, the inherent spacing of the glass mesh was 20mm, we should have provided two layer and reduced to 10mm. Next time, we are planning to keep the reinforcement spacing to the minimum. Keeping metal mesh at the stern and bow is a very good idea. Can you tell more about your composite development and testing methods? Thank You

Braviii great work beautiful team!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
A perfect team work 💪
This is awesome! Really good team work guys. Way to go!
this system is good to make a mold from a good kayak
Whats the slump on that concrete ?
Congratulations! From Brazil
You guys are awesome! I am going to a good university but I haven't seen any team like yours, a great teamwork/video making!
You have done fab job and salute to your group work. What is the proportion mortar mix?
Go with basalt mesh and wet nozzle shotcrete for a much thinner, stronger boat.
How does the boat function? Does it tip over?
Did you guys remove the mould ?
