  • How To Prepare & Cook Bull Mountain Oysters! Southern Fried Mountain Oysters!
If you don’t know what mountain oysters are.. you can either watch the video, or google it! These are from a bunch of cows we cut making steers in Kansas. This is the first time I had Mountain oysters, and of course we fried them! To me, they tasted like chicken nuggets!

I grew up on a farm in South Dakota. I am 66 years old and it does my heart good to see a young country woman who can prepare and cook catfish and mountain oysters. I have nothing but respect for you Hannah. Thank you for sharing!

Hello from Navajo Rez lol At a very young age I was taught everything about livestock. Cattle, horses, sheep, all of it. My 4 year old baby daughter - freaked out when she watched me butcher a sheep. She didn’t talk to me a whole day LOL. But after we ate mutton and fry bread. She finally came around and hugged me. Timeless and Precious.

I'm from the Central Texas region, and remember as a kid, I'm now 47, you could go into a steak house and get these as an appetizer from the menu. My dad and I, God rest his soul, used to always get a plate of these and share them. We would dip them in the country gravy. " 'Preciate Ya'll"

I have eaten them on many occasions and just love them. Here in southern Kansas you will hear them called, mountain oysters, cowboy caviar, lamb fries, and more. Many restaurants have them on their menu, occasionally churches have them served as main course on their fundraisers.

I use gallon size ziplock bag to batter my stuff. Toss in you flour and seasoning and meat. Then zip it shut and roll it around until everything is coated, and it doesnt take long at all. Its much faster than rolling each piece of meat by itself.... Hannah you are great :)

When I owned a Diner here in Kansas used a lot of Buddy Roaster. It's a pre seasoned flour mixture and a lot of people here love it.

I've seen bull nuts called rocky mnt oysters, prairie oysters, land oysters and pasture puppies. Pig nuts are either nuggets or fries, and only seen lamb nuts as fries. I've had all three prepared few different ways but my favorite is sauteed with butter garlic onions and mushrooms, then a gravy made with a little stock and flour. Excellent over biscuits.
