I haven't watched this whole video yet but this film will always be remembered by me. I was a extra in the stadium scene. They made us wear winter clothes in one of the hottest days of summer. That and seeing downtown Pittsburgh covered in fake snow for what seemed like all summer.
@J. Gess Yeah, they're literally reviewing all Batman movies as part of one project, but using this outrageous sliding scale (that isn't clear to anyone). Greg seems actively annoyed by this movie's slight inconsistencies but will ignore the part of Batman v Superman where Batman watches tape of Aquaman with the trident, but then we find out that Aquaman didn't have the trident yet later in the story.
I think rises is the best of the three films so this is not my criticism I just try to tell what other people seem to feel to understand their issues.....in the end i feel enjoyment or exploration of themes helps people during a movie even if depressing stuff occurs and from what I can gather this film is so sad and the tone is so intense for so long without much payoff people just get bored disinterested upset or angry watching it because its themes are too generic simple or not explored enough and sadly its fun action is limited(like the scene where batman fist appears is played as a negative afterwards by alfred so your only batman moment for a hug chunk of the film is bad according to the script that has characters say they want and need him back which makes people mad cause its jarring) and since dark knight rises does sorta built to this cliche no way out doomsday scenario and theres nothing more to talia besides the twist and bane besides the plan of ra's it just feels hollow on rewatch especially..they are not really trying to change gotham and we as an audience already know this early on as told by the film itself so a lot of the gotham scenes mean nothing to us on rewatch especially like in the end they just want to give hope and take it away..thats so boring and they want to break bruce's spirit?..why?..why not kill the one guy who can stop you?...when hes crippled?.....like the film chooses to be grand and have big new main characters but it really is a intimate bruce wayne story in the end not batman's...so it feels weird that this is the film where the worst situation occurs for batman and we have more main characters then before...and where are guards outside of the prison in case someone gets out?..why is bane in the prison just to appear in gotham again right after?..its jarring and it could of been done with a t.v. he did not have to go to the prison himself just to give a quick speech to bruce..thats so stupid..in 2012 just video chat on a laptop..save yourself all that time..cause its bizarre how he can just fly back an forth and left the city for a few days it seems...makes his next appearance at the football game even more weird...how did batman get back in the city?..its very bizarre how nolan just cuts that stuff out and edits the film like it should be longer and he said its not important even if he shot that extra stuff ...i feel people do not get as invested in these characters as I did over the past 2 films or the new ones or bruce's journey to not need batman... they cared more about the themes...oh well..they don't care about bruce enough
i feel it should of been split up into 2 films cause it does feel rushed and its hard to be as invested into these new characters besides bane cause they have short scenes and were not in the other 2 films...talia catwoman robin need more time to be developed...period...all the stuff with bane bruce alfred fox and batman is great ...no complaints there cause they have already been set up...
i think people harp too much on small nitpicky moments or plotholes in reviews ... or the less engaging storyline cause its themes are simpler compared to dark knight as it focused more on our investment and emotional personal connection to bruce wayne rather than this world...but thats the only flaws it has...no one praises the other stuff it does well or admit its a great film on its own..they just compare it to the past film an thats unfair...its a choice nolan made to ground the story with bruce like begins was...bruce in dark knight is almost non existent and as a trilogy thats a flaw honestly cause the other 2 films are about him....he is the same character for 98% of that 2nd film...and that is why we follow harvey and joker way more...an batman..thats a problem that film has not rises since thats what the trilogy is suppose to be about.
Imagine criticizing this movie for making leaps in logic or not making sense in terms of motivations, and then praising a movie like Batman vs Superman. Greg you're great man, but you need reevaluate your cinematic biases.
I think you're missing the point. BvS is a dumb superhero movie at heart, its a comic book movie and supposed to be basic and silly in its intentions. The Dark Knight movie are supposed to be cinematic masterpieces that happen to have Batman in them. In the trilogy the leaps in logic can't be excused because it doesn't suit the universe that has been established.
@@michealcapdor9104 False, Batman Vs Superman was intended to be gritty and serious. It was not positioned to be just a "dumb superhero movie", but rather a deconstruction of Batman and Superman as characters. This is incredibly obvious with how they pivoted the tone drastically with later movies because their gritty realistic take wasn't meshing with there comic book superhero 3rd acts that completely fall short of this tone. The Dark Knight Rises is no different then the other Nolan movies and demands the same of the viewer as every other Nolan movie. People just had incredibly unrealistic expectations of the 3rd film and when it didn't live up to there idealized version of a third film is this epic saga, they shit all over it for reasons that can be pointed out on literally every other Nolan movie. The difference here is that they liked those other films enough to overlook these same criticisms. They literally even say it in The Dark Knight in review.
@@infinitybelt The flaws are a bit more glaring in this one though because a) You don't have Heath Ledger, and b) It's not Batman Begins which as many might remember was the FOLLOW UP TO BATMAN & ROBIN. The history with these movies can hold a lot of weight to how they're perceived, and the problems with Batman Begins and especially The Dark Knight can be overlooked a little easier because of the times they were released in. That matters. The Dark Knight Rises had the baggage of being released after The Dark Knight which contained probably one of the best acting performances in a movie ever. It was never going to meet expectations because of that, for sure, but the problems with the plot and characterization seem to be a bit more prevalent, too. And so, it's easy to pick the movie apart and say it's a "bad movie" because of those problems. I don't think it is, and I like it quite a bit still. But I also liked Batman V Superman like Greg. This entire group pretty much said that X-Men Days of Future Past wasn't as good as most of the MCU , which is downright a laughable thing to say to me since I think it's better than at least half of them. They said that Spider-Man 2 isn't good and doesn't hold up (it does). It just goes to show that people have different tastes.
I think context matters here. I don’t know if it’s cinematic biases as much as holding the sequel to the dark knight to a higher standard. I don’t think the expectations were high at all for BvS where as TDKR had near insurmountable expectations.
i hate how these people who did not get what they wanted act like everyone should feel the same as they did and they don't see what positives it has or what others got out of it...bruce's story hit home..a movie does not make 1.5 billion globally without people really enjoying it...if it was as flawed as they claim why did people see it 6-7 times...you don't get that much without repeat viewings
I liked this just as much as the first, bane was awesome. Had no issue with the 5 month timer thing. The plan was to use the bomb for chaos and control so it makes sense. im not sure he was ever going to detonate the bomb
@@teddyholiday8038 I think they meant Bane never intended to press the trigger to the bomb to self-detonate it; his plan was to let the bomb go off on its own when the timer reached zero.
This was classic Kinda Funny In Review balancing discussion with plot with humor. Really great to see the formula and chemistry of everyone back to what made this show entertaining. Job well done.
So, Dark Knight Rises is such an intriguing movie. I think it's good, it's my favorite of the three, but it's not the best film of the three. I remember after The Dark Knight came out, and everybody loved it, and we were all sure there was going to be a sequel, but nobody had any idea what it would be like, and nobody envied Chris Nolan's position. We thought, callously, "Harvey Dent came back to life when Heath Ledger died." Ultimately, out of respect for Heath, Christopher Nolan decided to set the film 8 years in the future. There's a scene in the script where you see the back of the Joker's head while they're breaking everybody out of Blackgate, but the League of Shadows are all like... fuuuuuuuuuck that guy. He can stay right there. But the themes of the movie hit so damn close to home for me that it really holds a special place in my heart. It's a story about a man deciding that he wants to live. People are so used to movies ripping ideas from The Dark Knight Returns - Zack used the pictures, the Russo Brothers used the politics, and Christopher Nolan used the psychology. And Rises absolutely hits those notes. "I spent years looking for a good death. This... this will be a good life."
rises is my favorite superhero film ever...people seem to not get that its trying to tell like 4 different stories..people wonder why is this and this in the film its cause of the comics.. nolan wanted to pay tribute and tell a bigger story and I appreciate him giving bruce a happy ending and showing a character grounded movie about bruce coming back and not needing batman no more so he can have that normal good life alfred and his parents always wanted for him....he found the right successor his batman died in the eyes of the people..they do not need him as batman anymore ..he can be free..like he wanted to be in the last film
If I recall from the bts features, James Newton Howard left because he felt Nolan and Zimmer had a better working vibe/chemistry after working on Inception together, and felt he didn't want to get in the way or something like that.
Kevin mentioning the “super kick” from the cave.. did he use that kick during the final fight with Bane? When he boots him through the double doors? At least that’s always been my justification 😅😅 Big fan of the channel!!
To kevins point of "they expected three bodies", im pretty sure the CIA guy said "the manifest only listed one of you" or something. So wherever they were going were only expecting to receive one merc
BANE Let me tell you the truth about Harvey Dent. In the words of Gotham’s Police Commissioner, James Gordon... BANE ’The truth about Harvey Dent is simple in only one regard - it has been hidden for too long. After his devastating injuries, Harvey’s mind has recovered no better than his mutilated face. He was a broken, dangerous man, not the crusader for justice that I, James Gordon, have portrayed him to be for the last eight years. Harvey’s rage was indiscriminate. Psychopathic. He held my family at gunpoint, then fell to his death in the struggle over my son’s life. The Batman did not murder Harvey Dent - he saved my boy. Then took the blame for Harvey’s appalling crimes, so that I could, to my shame, build a lie around this fallen idol.’ BANE (V.O.) ’I praised the madman who tried to murder my own child. BANE ’The things we did in Harvey’s name brought desperately needed security to our streets... But I can no longer live with my lie. It is time to trust the people of Gotham with the truth, and it is time for me to resign.
So many conveniences and shortcuts in this movie. Blake just somehow KNOWING that Bruce Wayne was Batman as a kid, and Gordon knowing Bruce was Batman after Bruce describes how he comforted him as a kid after his parents died, even though he’s probably done that a million times for different kids who have lost relatives to crime... are just two examples of convenient shortcuts in this movie.
Yes Robin's moment is killed by him picking up the shotgun in the next scene but his disgust at killing is foreshadowing his rise to batman as he ends up hating up the Structure of Police with their rules and the killing He related to batman's method mirroring Bruce throwing away his gun
Unpopular opinion: this is my favorite Batman movie and I loved Bane he's terrifying and I love the growth that Bruce Wayne has it's not that he punches harder it's that he climbs out of his pit of despair rebuilds himself To Face someone he probably would have been able to defeat easily years ago and the point of causing chaos in Gotham was to torture Bruce before they destroyed it while he watched on TV
Looking back at this movie, I think with the exception of the jail and pit, deathstroke would have made a lot more sense than Bane, especially to represent being a mercenary and a ninja/member of league of shadows
I love that in the pit you have Bruce's whole arc up to that point and beyond. the 1st time he tries climbing up he thinks it's easy and is too arrogant like when he thinks he can take out Bane at the beginning. It also plays into what Alfred said about Bruce wanting to fail. The 2nd time he is just angry and thinks only about strength like when he fights Bane in the sewer. The third time he finally "gets" it. It's not about the physical stuff it's about finding yourself again using fear thus coming full circle from Batman Begins; Batman is being reborn. Everyone seem to talk about the physical stuff when talking about this film although it has nothing to do with that.
I really enjoy this movie and I think it is a good ending to this trilogy. MY biggest complaint is that it feels like it should've been split in two parts. The story moves way too fast and it honestly takes away from it. The movie should've ended with Bane breaking Batmans back.
right?..and you can have more villains in the first film like riddler ivy harley maybe even bring back scarecrow more and (penguin maybe) as the catalyst for batman returning as they broke out of arkham prison together and he has to get back in the grove before bane shows up..maybe not kill off joe chill gamble or two face so they can break them out and give us the rogues gallery batman is famous for...minus joker of course...then have bane and talia have more set up same for catwoman and blake who maybe help batman catch these criminals in the first film so we care more about them in the next film and they are set up better so in the climax they don't feel shoehorned into this series last movie...and then when bane releases them again its bad really bad for the people...and then alfred can not disappear for so long cause that and the talia stuff can be more explored maybe make her regret her choice and love bruce so shes more nuanced and conflicted in the end?..ever think about that nolan?...why is she so cliche evil with no motivation?
I like this movie so much cause it was more comic book then realistic. Still hoping we can get a comic book batman movie and not so grounded, but not so clownish.
There are a lot of comments and I didn't read them all, but for Kevin, Little Finger says "The flight plan I just filed with the agency lists me, my men, Dr. Pavel here but only one of you! First one to talk gets to stay on my aircraft!" so they would only be expecting 1 of the 3 mercs.
I still love this movie. Sometimes I can't decide if I like Begins or Rises better, but Rises does do a good job at giving Bruce Wayne a logical conclusion. It just has the unfortunate position of having to follow up the Dark Knight. And i don't give a shit: I liked that JGL is revealed as this version of Robin. He's clearly a composite of the 3 Robin's from the comics at the time. And given the trilogy's goal to keep things as grounded as possible, giving Batman a child as his sidekick legitimately would've been a bad look. So why force it, like they did Chris O'Donnell playing a college student?
I was not expecting Nick to commit to this kind of bit lmao, much appreciated. Saddened by the lack of ragu bagu though, but I know they mentioned the post show thing before
This is my favorite movie in the trilogy, I liked Tim’s Bane bit haha. Part of me misses hearing Colin’s “Yes, Brother” “The fire rises” quotes from the last time y’all went over this movie. Jesus Nick, I thought you were gonna come in as Batman, wasn’t expecting this lol.
Hard off-topic, but here's a suggestion for another Movie Universe in Review series: *ROCKY BALBOA/ADONIS CREED CINEMATIC UNIVERSE* : Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III, Rocky IV, Rocky V, Rocky Balboa, Creed, & Creed II..... I dunno why, but I think it'd be pretty fun to revisit this.
I think it’s because people had such high hopes for this to be better than TDK, but it’s difficult to pull off something amazing to an already phenomenal sequel. At this was a solid conclusion to one of the best superhero trilogy of all time.
i think people judge it harshly cause its not the dark knight ...the expected it to be less about bruce wayne and more about themes ...like people are sick of the whole bad guy blows up city for reasons shtick cause it just does not challenge us on a intellectual level so its hard to care as much on rewatch about most of the villain stuff ....like maybe if bane's plan really was to change gotham through this revolution we could care more instead of just having him lying and you know secretly going to blow them up no matter what they did or maybe if we did not know that he was planning to kill them anyways like we were never told of his lie so we think we can believe him but at the end it turns out he was lying it would better as a twist? I don't know....plus if they made talia more conflicted at the end due to her feelings for bruce it would work better since we would realize that sex scene and all that talks they had actually got through to her and mattered and like in the comics she loves him for real....instead bane's plan is just a facade and talia is just evil..with little motivation to be..smdh...and her love of and speeches with bruce are totally pointless ..smdh..these are fundamental flaws with the film ...it makes the villain's so boring..they just want to kill people..and yet wasted 5 months to do so?...why not kill them all with a gun over that 5 months daily?..whats the point of the bomb?..its not instant it has a timer...for 5 months...an the film makes us get invested in them only for them to be recycling the same motivations as the first film's villain...smdh..really?..lame
This trilogy is exceptional perfect Batman (bale) ... perfect director (Nolan) perfect music composer (zimmer) .. perfect villain Liam nesson Ra al Ghul, Heath ledger as the joker and Tom Hardy as bane ...l’d like to thank everyone who had something to do with this trilogy these movies have a big influence on me and for me it will be forever be the best Batman/ superhero movies of all time
58:38 - That's not really a bad point, Tim. But I think the "greatest city" remark was the President trying to boost morale while doing nothing. But the peace was a false one and wasn't going to last - Gordon knew it, Bruce knew it - because it was THEIR lie. And it ate away at both characters. The Dark Knight Trilogy has it's own "I have a bad feeling about this" kind of recurring line, too. "Things are worse than ever!"
Okay, this is a weird call-out, but what if they had made Bane more like... the bad guy from The World Is Not Enough? Dude got shot in the temple, didn't die, but the bullet started carefully pushing its way into his brain and now he can't feel anything and gets stronger and stronger and stronger until it kills him.
I love all the nods to the source material of the Dark Knight Returns. For one, the two cops in the tunnel when we first Batman are the two cops in the abandoned house where the one is like, "Wow, I haven't seen you in years, Batman" or whatever. Also, in the final battle with Superman, Green Arrow was present and I believe the scene at the beginning with Catwoman almost getting hit by the arrow was a nod to Green Arrow. Also, Gotham being shot off from the rest of the world I think was kind of a nod to the Arkham series. Also, JGL's character is a mix of almost all the Robins. "Blake" (Tim Drake) figured out who Batman was on his own and Grayson eventually does become a police officer which is where Blake starts. There was a lot of attention to detail in this movie as far as Batman lore is concerned and I feel it was greatly overlooked.
Obviously Rises doesn’t live up to Begins and Dark Knight but it’s not as bad as most of the DCEU movies that have followed it and DEFINITELY not as bad as the 90’s Batman movies
50:55 - Cut line from the shooting script - "Just about the only part of your body that looks healthy is... *checks notes* Your liver. If you want my medical advice, I'd recommend you pick up drinking. But I can not recommend that you go heli-skiing, Mr. Wayne."
I love this movie. Yeah it's the weakest, but it still stayed true to it's characters, and I still cry at the ending. I do think Nolan was a bit lazy in the writing in the last 30 minutes, but I don't mind. After Nick nitpicked Dark Knight to death, there actually some stuff in both of these movies that don't make sense. I loved Bane, most of his lines gave me chills, Anne Hathaway was really good as Catwoman (I still prefer Michelle). The fights, while better, are still underwhelming. I don't think Nolan can shoot good fights (I haven't seen Tenet yet), but I appreciate there aren't so many quick cuts like in Begins. The first fight with Bane was cool though, I felt the stakes there. Honestly I can understand why if some see it as a disappointment, but I seriously don't understand when they say Rises is "bad".
rises makes up for its lazy nolan story without enough rewrite fixes an edits by having everything else wok so well..acting action drama themes shots you name it...the issues com with nolan not the film..nolan is the one they should get mad at not the film..
D.W.P. - Department of Water and Power. Because if there's anybody that should know the difference between a gasline and a sewer, it's probably that guy.
I saw Tenet like 2 month ago at release, no spoiler guys, but if you can, watch it 2 times to understand. The movie is complicated at first and if you don't understand it very well, I'm sure you will have a tendency to bomb it in the review.
39:32 - "And unless she's lost a lot of weight... she was wearing somebody else's prints. So I cross referenced the address she went back to with police data on high end B&Es and... Selina Kyle." "We should send the police, before she fences the pearls." "She won't. She likes them too much. And they aren't what she was after." "What was she after?" "My fingerprints. There was printer toner, mixed with graphite on the safe. It gives a good pull, and it's untraceable." "Fascinating. You two should exchange notes over coffee."
I can understand that dark knight is a better movie critically. But this story made more sense and I liked the movie more. Batman Begins is the best of the 3
i think begins is the 2nd best....dark knight rises is my favorite...dark knight for me is 3rd..still great but its more aimless feels like filler as most sequels do....scenes do not mesh well for me..feels like 2 different films going on at once...joker's side and then harvey/bruce...hated that
This movie is fucking awesome. People just nitpick and want it to be bad. And obviously the death of Heath Ledger fucked the plans for this movie so have to give them a little bit of a break for that.
I didn't enjoy this as much as the Dark Knight, after that was such a fantastic movie, and Heath Ledgers Joker.........but, it really grew on me, and I think its just almost as good in a very different way after repeated viewings.
Few parts such as Bane's quick and outta no where death, Talia's reveal and death seemed rush, Alfred seemed to be cut from most the movie, and most the choreography was pretty bad. But other then that TDKR was a great ending to the trilogy imo. Bane was a fantastic villain and when he took over Gotham i was most invested I've ever been watching any Batman movie.
24 minutes in and I fear they didn't listen to Talia's exposition at the end. She and Bane were taken in by the League of Shadows after her escape from that prison. Ra's exiled Bane because he reminded him of the hell his daughter and wife went through. Talia could not forgive her father for that, until batman killed him. She then decided to execute her fathers plan of destroying Gotham to honor him whilst at the same time exacting revenge on Bruce Wayne. She played the long game to do it. "It's the slow knife... the knife that takes its time." This movie had a lot of fat that could have been trimmed. Too much time was spent on bane and his plan and an over-reliance on exposition by key characters to explain the plot. Still, I enjoyed it way more on my third viewing then I did when it was released.
i feel they just rag on it for content cause it ended the nolan universe and they wanted 4 films....they don't have to worry about kissing its ass like with the other 2 films since they had to be positive about those to get more films in the first place...they feel they can just shit on it as the finale cause he is done with the series so batman fans and movie fans can hate on him as by the third installment it is exhausting
Tim cosplaying as Bane and Greg as Commission Gordon is pretty cool.....then there's freaking Nick🤣

i think people harp too much on small nitpicky moments or plotholes in reviews ... or the less engaging storyline cause its themes are simpler compared to dark knight as it focused more on our investment and emotional personal connection to bruce wayne rather than this world...but thats the only flaws it has...no one praises the other stuff it does well or admit its a great film on its own..they just compare it to the past film an thats unfair...its a choice nolan made to ground the story with bruce like begins was...bruce in dark knight is almost non existent and as a trilogy thats a flaw honestly cause the other 2 films are about him....he is the same character for 98% of that 2nd film...and that is why we follow harvey and joker way more...an batman..thats a problem that film has not rises since thats what the trilogy is suppose to be about.
No, it's not. Its garbage
Is that Greg Miller or Henry Cavill? LOVING the stubble and stache look, Greg!
Don't know how I didn't see Nick's costume coming, but weirdly enough I'm glad to see the return. Also, nice to see Tim Hardy as Bane
They literally detonate the bomb
@@teddyholiday8038 I think they meant Bane never intended to press the trigger to the bomb to self-detonate it; his plan was to let the bomb go off on its own when the timer reached zero.
The opening of this is absolutely the "this better not awaken anything in me" meme
My favorite espisdoe of in review is the one where Nick is dressed like a cat and is licking his mic and pouncing around his room
The way he licked that mic, make my skin crawled
1:46:40 is amazing. Kevin gets a gold star for being hilarious.
Tim is bald, but Nick dressing as Haliey Berry’s Catwoman is still more disturbing.
This was classic Kinda Funny In Review balancing discussion with plot with humor. Really great to see the formula and chemistry of everyone back to what made this show entertaining. Job well done.
Greg can grow surprisingly lush and full facial hair. Impressive.
We thought, callously, "Harvey Dent came back to life when Heath Ledger died."
Ultimately, out of respect for Heath, Christopher Nolan decided to set the film 8 years in the future.
THE FIRE RISES BROTHER
bane is a troll ..and a meme..
Kevin mentioning the “super kick” from the cave.. did he use that kick during the final fight with Bane? When he boots him through the double doors? At least that’s always been my justification 😅😅 Big fan of the channel!!
New Mutants comes out on digital release on the 17th are you guys going to do XCU?
I assume they'd just combine it with X-Men in review
To kevins point of "they expected three bodies", im pretty sure the CIA guy said "the manifest only listed one of you" or something. So wherever they were going were only expecting to receive one merc
BANE
Let me tell you the truth about
Harvey Dent. In the words of
Gotham’s Police Commissioner, James
Gordon...
BANE
’The truth about Harvey Dent is
simple in only one regard - it has
been hidden for too long. After his
devastating injuries, Harvey’s mind
has recovered no better than his
mutilated face. He was a broken,
dangerous man, not the crusader for
justice that I, James Gordon, have
portrayed him to be for the last
eight years. Harvey’s rage was
indiscriminate. Psychopathic. He
held my family at gunpoint, then
fell to his death in the struggle
over my son’s life. The Batman did
not murder Harvey Dent - he saved
my boy. Then took the blame for
Harvey’s appalling crimes, so that
I could, to my shame, build a lie
around this fallen idol.’
BANE (V.O.)
’I praised the madman who tried to
murder my own child.
BANE
’The things we did in Harvey’s name
brought desperately needed security
to our streets... But I can no
longer live with my lie. It is time
to trust the people of Gotham with
the truth, and it is time for me to
resign.
this was the greatest opening of any kinda funny video ever
So many conveniences and shortcuts in this movie. Blake just somehow KNOWING that Bruce Wayne was Batman as a kid, and Gordon knowing Bruce was Batman after Bruce describes how he comforted him as a kid after his parents died, even though he’s probably done that a million times for different kids who have lost relatives to crime... are just two examples of convenient shortcuts in this movie.
Yes Robin's moment is killed by him picking up the shotgun in the next scene but his disgust at killing is foreshadowing his rise to batman as he ends up hating up the Structure of Police with their rules and the killing He related to batman's method mirroring Bruce throwing away his gun
he threw away his badge
2:02:35 Glad to hear you guys will be reviewing Tenet! I look forward to that. Im picking it up on 4k when it comes out
I’m looking forward to finally watching the New Mutants next week, and the final XCU In Review.
Same
immediately, immensely glad i went for the video version on this one 😭
I'm just gonna say it, people had unrealistic expectations coming into this movie and are overly critical of it because it didn't meet them.
I guess but Nolan set those expectations himself by topping Begins with Dark Knight. So it’s only right people thought he’d top Knight with rises
FACTS!
@@nanagyambibi7426 Actually, in this case, it's "OPINIONS!"
Whose fault is that?
I had A FEW PROBLEMS. But those problems are heavily outweighed by the benefits. This movie is my second fav of the trilogy
Nobody knew who had the second best baby blues in San Fransisco until Tim put on the mask.
Holy shit this is and A+ Greg Miller performance. the 10 yr old Greggy wearing a ski mask part had tears in my eyes 😂
The problem with trying to split in two means Bruce spends most of the second movie in the prison pit.
Greg's impression of the citizens in gotham throwing in spiderman quotes half the time will always be the best.
Christopher Judge aka Kratos is in this movie!
@1:14:17
This looked like the Legion of Doom on a Zoom meeting, when Tim said "shut up" to everyone looking like Lex Luthor
I love Greg's slow evolution into doing the accent from His Girl Friday instead of Bane.
Gregs mustache works surprisingly well. Its a powerful look
There’s so many other visuals to point out in this episode but man Kev’s hairs looks majestic also Tim looks like Dryden Vos from Solo
I was not expecting Nick to commit to this kind of bit lmao, much appreciated. Saddened by the lack of ragu bagu though, but I know they mentioned the post show thing before
I’m so late to watch this, but I’ve recently been watching the Nolan Batman’s and these episodes are just a nice treat to come back to.
I have never laughed so hard at the start of an In Review.... Bane. Catwoman. Victor Zsasz. 🤣🤣🤣
I wish i could have been a part of this, they gloss over so many great quotes.
Great review again but its eye opening at the end...Memento being the 5th best movie for any director is a CRAZY achievement.
We got jim gordon and bane in the Batman in review, gotta love it
This is my favorite movie in the trilogy, I liked Tim’s Bane bit haha. Part of me misses hearing Colin’s “Yes, Brother” “The fire rises” quotes from the last time y’all went over this movie. Jesus Nick, I thought you were gonna come in as Batman, wasn’t expecting this lol.
you love this crappy movie?
@@boochtron most rewatchable one of the Nolan movies haha
@@vSilentangel what? this movie is embarrassing in so many ways
I love The Dark Knight Rises. Sorry not sorry. Great scenes.
Big W
I see you’re a person of culture as well lol
Agreed, all The Dark Knight Trilogy films are 10/10 to me, never understood the hate for TDKR.
There was a lot of attention to detail in this movie as far as Batman lore is concerned and I feel it was greatly overlooked.
even if Greg blew by it, i very much appreciate Kevin and Andy continuing to rate Tim's segues.
Obviously Rises doesn’t live up to Begins and Dark Knight but it’s not as bad as most of the DCEU movies that have followed it and DEFINITELY not as bad as the 90’s Batman movies
Time: We’re finishing conjuring in review with annabelle comes home
Kevin: Is that the second or the third?
FINISHING KEVIN FINISHING
I really like this movie, the only part I really dislike is Bane's death. I find it super anticlimatic.
yep...they should not have killed him off..he needed to show up once more after that and do something at the end...for sure...
Damn I was hoping they caught all the air punches during the cop brawl at the end. Nolan did not try to hide it at all lol
Gonzo for gordon and rockin robin can be future segments in every in review from this point forward
How can you not love Kinda Funny
Haven’t seen the whole video, all I know is this movie is badass and even if the story is filled with plot holes it’s still badass
How is there not a kinda funny sexy calender. Mostly nick in the cat suit 😂
47:21 - D.W.P. - Department of Water and Power Apparently the only people in Gotham with the education to discern a gas line from a sewer.
Man poor D seeing Nick walk out of the room in that cat suite 😂
D.W.P. - Department of Water and Power. Because if there's anybody that should know the difference between a gasline and a sewer, it's probably that guy.
Something I haven’t seen anyone talk about is how Bane fulfilled what the Joker was telling Harvey Dent in the hospital.
Holy shit, when kinda funny commits to a bit, they commit to a bit
I saw Tenet like 2 month ago at release, no spoiler guys, but if you can, watch it 2 times to understand. The movie is complicated at first and if you don't understand it very well, I'm sure you will have a tendency to bomb it in the review.
39:32 -
"And unless she's lost a lot of weight... she was wearing somebody else's prints. So I cross referenced the address she went back to with police data on high end B&Es and... Selina Kyle."
"We should send the police, before she fences the pearls."
"She won't. She likes them too much. And they aren't what she was after."
"What was she after?"
"My fingerprints. There was printer toner, mixed with graphite on the safe. It gives a good pull, and it's untraceable."
"Fascinating. You two should exchange notes over coffee."
I can understand that dark knight is a better movie critically. But this story made more sense and I liked the movie more.
Batman Begins is the best of the 3
i think begins is the 2nd best....dark knight rises is my favorite...dark knight for me is 3rd..still great but its more aimless feels like filler as most sequels do....scenes do not mesh well for me..feels like 2 different films going on at once...joker's side and then harvey/bruce...hated that
I like that Greg looks like Commissioner Gordon for this haha (typed this before Tim introduced him lol)
These could've been the best in review if Colin could've guest this episode. Still is awesome great job everyone
"It's the slow knife... the knife that takes its time."
This movie had a lot of fat that could have been trimmed. Too much time was spent on bane and his plan and an over-reliance on exposition by key characters to explain the plot. Still, I enjoyed it way more on my third viewing then I did when it was released.
Haha, it was me who suggested Tim cosplaying Bane on the EL stream! :D Not that the guys wouldn't have done that anyway ;)
I am 10 minutes in and I completely disagree on so many points already made. This movie absolutely rules.
Shout out to Greg’s short ‘Return of the Mac’ rendition
One of those movies that I enjoyed but I knew if I thought about it for one second it would fall apart.
Tim went all in! So great!
You guys are fantastic! Thanks a lot
I still love this movie man lol, I dont care how much people rag on it.
i feel they just rag on it for content cause it ended the nolan universe and they wanted 4 films....they don't have to worry about kissing its ass like with the other 2 films since they had to be positive about those to get more films in the first place...they feel they can just shit on it as the finale cause he is done with the series so batman fans and movie fans can hate on him as by the third installment it is exhausting
Tim has never got enough credit, that guy is the MVP at kinda funny from day 1.
Why does Greg look like the 70's version of Commissioner Gordon?
If nothing else this movie was worth it just for that Tom Hardy performance.
