My dad and four uncles. all New Zealanders, faced German parachutists prior to the start of WW2 in the Battle of Maleme. My dad said the poor Germans had no chance. Dad said that the Germans were beautiful men, all lying dead. The soldiers who killed them cried when this happened.

German technology was amazing, but so was American and British technology of the time. Imagine they managed to jump out of planes, storm beaches drive tanks and advance in formation and all the while no matter how difficult or demanding the task every action was accompanied by a full orchestra and often a commentator too. Absolutely faboulous.
