This is like the episode of drake and josh where drake and josh meet drew and jerry there’s something so unsettling about seeing this guy sing instead of isaac and he’s right there lmao
This is weirdly unsettling. Knowing what we know now about this singer, my god, he's just so... slimy and unlikeable here. And it's so bizarre having Isaac - in my opinion one of the greatest songwriters in recent history - just sort of hanging about doing quite boring guitar work, completely unaware that in a few years he will captivate the world with his words.

I always thought that the For the First Time era was very wasted, Algorith seemed like a solid theme to put together in the studio, but whenever I review this pre band, I realize that they had been covering this sound for too long, the impact of the scene of the Windmill would have been very different if they hadn't had those controversies, they had to wait a long time before going public again with the same proposal because they knew they had something there.
And shit, spending too much time doing basically the same type of music, no wonder that for this and more Isaac had left the group, this whole story is very difficult.
they (the singer especially) sound pretty derivative of a great post-punk aussie band called the drones. Super interesting because i've seen bcnr compared to them before but never really been able to get behind the comparison much further than a slight influence, but its much clearer here.

Is it just me or is every video, and I'd even argue photos, of these guys at that point just looks terribly unhappy to be there? I kinda notice this air of dread hanging over them and given what's happened with this singer, it kind of makes sense to me in a way. I'm glad they've moved on from someone who was clearly not a great person to something where they feel more like friends working together than just some asshole singers backing band.
Singer reminds me of dude from the movie Kids ... the main fella, creepy diddler. Music is as good as always

I know it's just a song, and the lyrics aren't making reference to the sexual assault allegations, but watching the snippet from 34:30 is so unnerving.

I don't know, they sound fine, but I guess the songwriting is just a bit less inspired than what they would achieve later with Isaac on vocal duties and a slightly altered sound. Also, I don't know how to feel about this being posted, considering the band broke up after some pretty pernicious sexual harassment and assault allegations directed towards the lead singer. I guess if I was in the band, I wouldn't like to see this stuff posted (even though it is, at this point, kind of a matter of public record and all that). Conflicted feelings about this, honestly!

i want to listen to nervous conditions, because the music is obviously fantastic. but i really absolutely cannot stand this singer and his entire stage charisma and everything. he really doesn't seem to a nice person in general and not the type of guy i would personally like to deal with. and the sa stuff of course speaks for itself.
he's like the antithesis to the wholesome band bcnr are now.

Isaac’s on guitar in this performance. This was the frontman of the old band before they ended and reformed as BCNR

Dude is Connor Browne. He had been accused of SAing girls and so that obviously ended his career and Nervous Conditions, leading into BCNR.
And btw I say accused of SA but he never even denied it in his apology so its pretty much confirmed.

These comments are tripping, this singer isn’t any worse than most other singers in this style from this scene.
If anything, Isaac being relegated to just guitar makes him the most disposable/boring member of the band in this iteration.
Perhaps that’s a testament to the quality of ‘this scene’.
And they have two drummers. Why wouldn’t one of them be more disposable?

@@jules6631 actually i was there at this gig with a friend of mine. I dont know what would you expect from the "crowd', but back then NC were basically an unknown band in Hungary, most of the people were there because of the 'main' band Beach Fossils.
Anyway... I love Beach Fossils (thats I was there, I just happened to convince my friend to come along), BUT we checked NC in advance - hence we were there from the beginning of the show. NC was absolutely mindblowing, and since then I was able to catch BCNR in Budapest & in Wien last year. Different kind of music ofc, and clearly they had issues with their singers, but honestly I love them both musically.
Also we were able to speak a few words by the merch table with Lewis the sax player, and Charlie, one of the drummers who is the currently the only one, they were just super nice, my friend even got a NC t-shirt after this.
Every BCNR show they look super bored. I guess that's just their shtick.
