    Your analysis of Atlanta’s defensive interior simply does not tally with the facts. When both Grady and Onyemata were out there it was the one consistently effective part of our DL last season. It was an objectively good unit for those games and that was reflected in the grading.
    Also, did you not watch the Falcons games towards the end of the season? CP3 had already replaced Jeff as a starter by that point.
    Some occasional errors with the snap notwithstanding, Dalman was steady enough.

      Not to knock the guest, but watching this made me really miss Nate and how knowledgeable he was about the Falcons. That's very rare to find in the national media :(

    Rob's rant about Kyle Pitts is exactly why I'm predicting doom for the Steelers: Smith refused to see what he was doing wrong with him & kept calling the Same Failed Plays. He drives passing plays to the middle of the field? & Russ is supposed to be the starter? Russell "has led the league in passes Behind The Line Of Scrimmage Because He Can't See The Middle Of The Field" Wilson?
    The Steelers are doomed.

    My lingering question why does this division get a home playoff game?

  • @ChewsCarefully
    @ChewsCarefully Місяць тому

    I'll *try* to give him hope about Carr, but not Unconditional hope. Remember those late games where Carr yelled at his receivers & kept passing to where He Thought they should be on routes until they changed? & how Dennis Allen looked on as if brain damaged or because he wanted Carr to do this?
    Well? That's why the offense clicked late, right? & this is why Carmichael got fired. I think that Saints ownership meddles in team affairs but not in an overt way like Jerry Jones does & that everyone except ownership wanted Carmichael out.
    There has to be a reason Carr's teammates respect him despite his apparent lack of clutch performance. Leadership seems to be one of his strong suits. I honestly think he might become a coach.

    • @TheAthleticNFL

      These are some astute points. Coach Carr has a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

    • @ChewsCarefully
      @ChewsCarefully Місяць тому

      @@TheAthleticNFL The ring of the name did not cross my mind. Nah, it's more like I'm making up for the fact that we talk about good play-calling, but ignore when it's bad. Either it matters or Andy Reid can be replaced by Adam Gase, right?
      Hence my other comment about Arthur Smith. Take what you said about him concentrating passes up the middle along with Russ' Greatest Weaknesses _and_ the fact that Smith didn't adjust his play-calling to Pitts' strengths.
      See the problem?

    I may be coping, but i dont see a reason to be so negative regarding the saints. I think kubiak was defintely worth talking about much more. We're about to see our last years of kamara i dont think they want to waste that, also kendre miller is coming into their own, i talk about them specifically because the playcalling will be less stale. I still believe people are overly negative about Carr, its hard not to be convinced he's hated more as a person than as a player. Im very much looking forward to the season. I myself get frustrated with the overly negative saints fans, i would rather believe in my team with their faults. We have an amazing wr1 and a good core behind him. A new O lineman, and a great defense. I think the tools are there personally. Its hard for me to hate Carr, because he seems like a good guy with a good work ethic and i want to believe in that

    • @rjharrold2907
      @rjharrold2907 Місяць тому

      Truth is great defense with its best player being what 35? Olave is a low end 1 high end 2 but yes really good or great receiver. Behind Olave is solid but nothing more as of now just wr3 guys. Carr is middling at best and bad with pressure. Offensive line has two good interior, one good tackle who probably won't play, a rookie tackle, and two pretty big holes or at least question marks at left guard and Penning. They should have never traded for Carr and that's the offseason they should have blown it up except for the young promising guys. Lattimore needs traded, old guys need to retire, etc. At best you're a bad playoff team and they stopped spending all their money too late just to burn it into being .mediocre so they're bad for even longer

      @@rjharrold2907 pretty respectable thoughts and well articulated. I think Rashid Shahid is slept on (especially with the new kick off rules). I'm not at all trying to say that they're an upper echelon team. But I'm definitely looking forward to watching them they have so many players that I like, like taysom hill. I'm just gonna support them and hope for the best

I'm a Giants fan and ofcourse I'm excited to watch Andrew Thomas, Dexter Lawrence, Okereke, Nabers, Banks, Burns, Kayvon, etc but I also realize that all those great players to have are just playing their careers to keep playing football each year without championship chance until there's an actual quarterback on the team

    I love how the entire segment on the saints is how every team is better than the saints. mostly negatives and every positive there was a sly diss "they have no hope" right after it. but every other nfc south team gets an actual anyalytical summary and where they should prosper but none for the saints. i dont understand where all the saints hate comes from they were 9-8 missed the playoffs by a tie breaker not 3-14 not 7-10 like the falcons but yet those teams have more hope lol nothing about the actual product being played on the field i cant make this up Lol

    Says he’s not going to talk about the Saints in a lazy way, gets another guy to come on his show and talk about the Saints in a lazy way. The only thing this dude said that was realistic was that he’s just a dude and not an insider. No doubt, but he obviously hasn’t kept up with the off season either. Derek Carr isn’t the best QB, but he’s as tough as they come. Playing through a shoulder injury, fractured ribs, and dealing with concussions last season and still showing up to play football. That’s why he looked good at the end of the season, because he was finally getting healthy. Do I think the Saints win the playoffs? I don’t know. I don’t think there’s much difference in the three teams at the top of the NFC South, but there is a lot to have hope about. Changing from statistically the worst play caller in the entire league last year to a coach from the Shanahan tree that brought a 7th round QB to a Super Bowl and made him look elite. I’m not sure who ya boy would have picked in the draft, but picking up one of the top 3 O-Line prospects seems pretty wise in my opinion. Most elite defense in the South, a new QB friendly system, and the addition of Chase Young under arguably the best defensive mind in the entire NFL gives me a lot to have hope about. Are there still a lot of questions? Yes, but who doesn’t have questions?
    The Falcons with a previously failed head coach, a play caller that’s never called a game, and a mediocre aging QB coming off of an Achilles injury. Could they be great? Sure! They have the most talented roster on offense in my opinion, but the stars have to align.
    Baker Mayfield? Really? Look at his career. He had one good season and now he’s a top 12 QB in the NFL? Man I guess, but he needs another season to prove it.
    The Panthers? Enough said.

    I don’t get Kirk Cousins. Probably because I don’t have NFL brain rot but I don’t understand why people discuss him that way. This is in regards to the red QB with blue moments Mays was talking about. Where are those blue moments? I hope we’re not talking about regular season production. So I ask again where are those blue moments in the playoffs?

      I’m shocked that with Demario Davis on the saint team playing at a pro bowl level that they are aghast that some older players have to fail once they hit 30.
      Tom Brady was fantastic for the Buccaneers…. And much more important than merely the superbowl win
      He brought a new attitude to a continuous bottom feeder.
      Tom looks after his body… which allowed him to play at an elite level when others in his age group had retired. Compare the number of injuries each year that Mike Evans had prior to Tom Brady arrival to the number of injuries since. I’ll let you draw your own conclusions
      Tom Brady won a lot… and in the process, he learned what it takes to win.
      So let’s go over the names you pointed out… Kancey was injured in the preseason, missed all the preseason games and a couple of early season games, came back and was reinjured… sitting out several more games. Yet he still ended up with more sacks the IDL greats like Sapp, Suh, McCoy etc. etc. He also ended up with the second highest TFL of all rookies (recall fewer games). His best games came in the playoffs against Eagles and Lions (arguably the best two lines)… not sure if you follow him, but Kancey put on 15 lbs of muscle during the offseason.. Brian Baldinger raved about Kancey’s workouts, and spent many hours working with Kancey with regard to rushing game plans and alternate moves. So like all IDL going into their second season… I would think that he too improves
      Cody Mauch played every down as Right Guard, and picked up a lot of experience. 5 years ago he was a 221 lb TE for NDSU. Within a couple years he was starting as Left Tackle ( where often the best linemen get moved to). He had relatively short arms, so the Bucs moved him to Right Guard. The expectations for Left Tackles are totally different than from Guard, where more girth is required. Like Luc Goedeke (after his very disappointing rookie year) Cody spent the offseason in the weight room, and put on 20lbs of muscle. Even in his rookie year… Cody dramatically improved his technique… but the extra strength in his lower body should reduce the number of times he was rag dolled.
      YaYa who ended up leading the team in sacks in his rookie season didn’t become a starter until after mid season. He too has spent the offseason putting on 20 lbs of muscle. But equally important… he became a film clip junky, assessing what he did wrong, and what others were doing right
      Vita Vea had a bit of a down year last season. While his numbers were close to normal… all of it came in the first half of the season. Nagging injuries were a issue… but even the number of snaps dropped. This summer he committed to self improvement… and did his offseason training with his old friend Suh… while no one will state exactly how much he lost, number around 40lbs have been thrown around.
      And I could go on.
      The impact of Tom Brady lives on… including the Team-friendly signing of many of the stars.
      Team culture only shows up in the win/loss column. Sometimes a collection is better than the sum of its parts

    • @MathesonMykal
      @MathesonMykal 19 днів тому

      The Buccaneers did have a league leading number of rookies taking snaps.. so statements like “ Bucs haven’t improved from last season” doesn’t make sense… how often does a starter not improve between their rookie season and their second season???
