Mike Clay putting the Vikings at 8 in the NFC is Insane. Justin Jefferson, TJ Hockenson, Jordan Addison and Aaron Jones. Not to mention Christian Darrisaw who is a top 5 left tackle in the NFL

It's insane how much more knowledgeable Mayes is over any guest he brings on, shows the difference between people who actually watch film and the people who just stat watch to create false narratives

Great episode, love the content stream this summer and props to the team for constantly finding guest mics for the show!
I do find the confusion over *guest list* vs. *Robert's list* continues to slow the convo a bit on these kinds of shows. I think a better format may just be completely ignoring Robert's list completely until *the very end* and then you can milk a few minutes of compare + contrast as a segment with the guest. I think it sometimes with these episodes feels like the guest is coming on to have their list judged by Robert and immediately told *they are vaguely wrong* before they even get into the meat of their argument, which is probably not the flavor you guys are chasing for the conversation.

You can tell Mike Clay is not as knowledgeable when it comes to football as Mays. Robert was factoring in the playcallers and offensive systems which is very important to a supporting cast’s overall success where as Mike was just going off of name recognition and analytics to determine which supporting casts he thought were the best which is a bad way to look at football

*_MY_* self-important list would be WAS, Cardinals, Giants, Saints, then there's a leap. But to a mish-mash. Since this is about Sup[porting Cast (around the QB presumably) my doubts surrounding play-calling are going to inform most of the rest of this.
I agree with Rob for instance that Waldron didn't do Great Things with Seattle. While this doesn't drop the Bears down much, the fact is the great passing game relocated to Tampa with Canales. _But_ Waldron was there *with* Canales, saw what he did _AND_ had JSN, Bobo & Charbonnet a great receiving RB added to only the two High-End yet still, only 2 WRs Canales worked with.
_How_ did he do less with that much more?
So, 12) Falcons. Who can I rank lower? They're trying to buy a winning roster & haven't gotten anything above mid except Cousins & they were maybe a QB away from winning the weakest division, but not from being true contenders. & they have a VERY unproven coaching staff.
So my 11 is the Bucs who improved their roster slightly but whose biggest stars are aging & they lost Canales to the Panthers. 10, the Cowboys. They already under-performed with last year's roster & coaches & have a worse roster & lost their DC.
9, Panthers, 8 Bears, 7 Seahawks. I can't put any of those above coaching staffs who have proven to get more either with less or with their current rosters. So Vikings, Rams & Packers all have to rank higher here. Then maybe the Lions are 2 or Eagles, but yeah, San-Fran still beats them.
With one thing: the Eagles may plummet due strictly to play-calling. Fangio? Also Kellen Moore has for two years stuck with a Favorite Pass Play that neutered Justin Herbert & helped Dak lead the NFL in INTs back in '22 *despite missing 5 games.*
Herbert actually regressed more under Moore than the previous dog-water OC & Dak was in the MVP discussion _without_ him. I can see them descending to 10th easily.

I'm a Giants fan but how are the Saints better on offense? Sure Nabers is a rookie but him and Olave we can cancel out. Rest of the weapons I can't see how you can say the Saints are better. Offensive line we have the best player by far at left tackle on either line and yeah the rest is questionable but so is the entire Saints line except for center and one guard spot which are ok

@@rjharrold2907 Sorry, had to change accounts. Did you see those games around week 13 where Derek Carr was yelling at his receiver on the field then throwing to where he wanted them to be, then the last 3 games the offense finally clicked & they ended with that embarrassing blowout that got Arthur Smith fired?
The HC Dennis Allen looked on while this all went on as if he were an idiot or really wanted Carr to do this. Turns out it was the 2nd thing. He may not be able to call the offense but he knew that Carmichael was The Problem & seeing Carr change everything During Games is probably what got him fired. *_He_* was *The Reason* the Saints offense was under-performing. The Giants have no such excuses. Their_ weaknesses seem to be roster-related.
Put another way, the Giants played at their best which sucked, while the Saints overall were limited by their OC, affecting their production. Not that limit has been removed. Would the Giants have been able to blow out the Falcons like that? Not even with great play-calling.
If you like analysis videos, Bootleg Football tried explaining this with some ratings system I don't fully understand just this week.

@@UsefulPreconceivedNotions I know who Brett and EJ are. And no the Giants didn't play at their best. Sure the coaching had them overachieve but as far as injury and specific coaching like offensive line they absolutely weren't at their best. The season was a fucking mess and if a few things changed with plays or injuries you're looking at a lower level playoff team

    • @UsefulPreconceivedNotions
      @UsefulPreconceivedNotions 22 дні тому

@@rjharrold2907 I'm not 100% sure why either. I mean, I _see_ it. But Brett's own channel's analysis of what was still wrong with their offense in '22 implied it was All Daniel Jones. While Daboll did a good thing teaching him to run with confidence, Jones started leaning on it like a crutch & resorting to it when he had open receivers.
So the receiving corps isn't The Problem. It's just no one's videos are complete & it's hard to see how well or poorly an o-line versus the players on it have what effect. That's why I went for the one clear point: the Giants can blow out _nobody._
The comeback against the Cardinals was great, but they still don't have a D _this year._ So the best I can say is that the Giants have a Way Lower Ceiling. Everything else dissolves into niggling little details to me.

First of all, there was no tagline. The Title of the video is "Ranking the BEST Supporting Casts in the NFC." If you watched the intro, you would have heard the explanation of the parameters defined by "supporting cast," and you would have heard that coaching is a big determining factor in tiebreaks between teams.
If you had done that, you wouldn't have misled yourself, and you wouldn't be feeling so dumb and disappointed right now.
Better luck in your next video.
P.S. Both guys had a mustache.
