    Miroku 7000 Keeps Opening when Fired! but Top lever is ok.
    this kind of job usually involves a full strip down..
    The Devongunsmith Diaries concept was conceived by me during lock down, and the premise was to be able to perform work without a fully set up gunsmiths workshop, but rather, using just the Cottage Kitchen Table, a few hand tools, some cordless tools, a table vice, and other small DIY tools.
    While the channel is not specifically intended to be a how to guide, it is mainly for entertainment.
    While in the UK gunsmithing must be performed by the Licenced Gun Trade, UA-cam is without borders, and if the channel is useful to someone as either entertainment, or indeed helps you to decide if a repair might be possible, then I have been a help to you.

    I did exactly this on my Miroku. It's been two years and still ok. Lack of lubrication by former owner. Needless to say, it gets looked after now!

    I'd have smudges the contact surfaces with candle black before and after any repairs.

    Great video as ever. What bluing solution are you using here? Looks like a quick and liberal spray of Legia before? Thanks

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  11 місяців тому

      I used a liberal spray of electrical contact cleaner (just a degreaser)
      I also scoured the barrels outside with boiling water.. then used quick black (blueing) solution.
      All gun shops stock a form of cold blue solution or gel. If you use them with warmed barrels, especially clean barrels, it will all work 👍

      Thanks for clarifying that as it appeared (at first glance) different to what you say at the end (not knowing it was degreaser). I've tried several different brands available in the uk with differing results having degreased with alcohol and heating with hair dryer and washing with water after to cease the rusting of the cold blue. Your approach makes it look a lot easier and with better results. The oiling seems to blend it nicely. Many years of experience and knowledge helping of course no doubt. I have tried and failed to get hold of oxpho blue as that appears to give good results but seems hard to come by here. Thanks for the videos though, very much enjoyed and appreciated.

    Excellent content. You mind sharing the grease and oil you are using? I've recently got hands on a secondhand Browning GTS Elite and want to lubricate some key areas prior shooting it for the first time.

    Have you had occasion to look into a Yildiz Pro ? Considering purchasing one . What is your take on the brand?

    What kind of grease did you use?

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  10 місяців тому

      I favour a Molybdenum Disulphide/ Lithium blend: for the Cottage kitchen gunsmith, the Moly grease used is auto moly which is easily found at any auto shop.
      To grease or not to grease: is a contentious subject.. in Devon, UK, where it rains more than any other weather, and is a low income region, I prefer to ensure the action is well protected until it next gets a service..
      Not all get annual servicing.

    Hi I'm having trouble with barrel selector on my 694 beretta keep knocking it across by accident is it possible to convert to non selective like trap model

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi John, anything is possible.. it depends how deep your pockets are.. 😀👍 but seriously, there are various ways to customise a gun selector. Use a 692 selector modified to replace yours, for example..

    • @johnedwards6490
      @johnedwards6490 10 місяців тому +1

      Hi I've tried asking local gunsmiths about converting it 2 never got back to me the other one said he spoke to gmk to try and order parts they he would have to send gun to them for the work to be done

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  10 місяців тому

      Where are you located?
      Its relatively simple to make a non selector safety.
      From something as basic as fix the existing selector with a dot of weld.. for example..
      All the way to making a new part from scratch..
      Gun shops aren’t often actually gun engineers. They are retail outlets.

      you could send it to me, and I do the job, and publish the results on my channel!?

    • @johnedwards6490
      @johnedwards6490 9 місяців тому

      I'm in Cambridgeshire If I send it back to gmk for them to fit non selective safety it's £300 the 694 skeet has a non selective safety but they won't sell parts they say it has to be done by them

    Test fire to see if job was successful .?

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  8 місяців тому

      Is that a statement or a question? The disclaimer at the end of the video states clearly sometimes steps are omitted from the videos.
      What is your point? Is it a criticism??

    • @lexzoolia1
      @lexzoolia1 7 місяців тому

      Hi , thank you for taking the time to reply . No , certainly not a criticism, merely an observation. Just curious to know if the outcome was successful. It just seemed that the amount of debris removed and small amount of peening wouldn’t cure the issue of the gun opening on firing.

    Hello Mr. Customer, this Gus the Gun Guy- Sir, You need to clean the weapon then it will operate.. I would be ashamed for a gunsmith to see one of my guns this dirty and neglected......
