@Robert Taylor I'm personal friends with Mark. He's got family photos from way back that show him with one white eyebrow. Thus, the joke about chemicals that would turn your other eyebrow white.
"But that fake ass guy with the cool music and rubber gloves could fix it with a toothbrush, and cold blue etc..." we've all seen the bullshit videos. Countless thanks to Mark and the team for all your actual hard work and sharing such priceless knowledge for the next generation of gunsmiths. And happy April fool's
I love how Mark subtlety increased the ridiculous. I mean, at first I was very skeptical. But about half way through I was like, this has to be a joke, right? And then came the checkering thing and I was finally sure.
I was becoming very, very confused. The part about the customer wanting you preserve the patina on the choke tubes was a big "WTF?" moment. Like, what patina? And why are the choke tubes so important to preserve anyway? My biggest "WTF?" moment was seeing the wire wheel used on the action. I was appalled! Shelton stalls out the wire wheel trying to clear the screw head, and you look on with approval. "You think maybe we need a more powerful grinding wheel?" No! Oh god, no! Surely not! The WTFery in this video really had me going. "So here we have an amazingly recreated shotgun. It's completely done and filmed in broad daylight so you can see all of its hues and colors." Ha ha, now I get it, and I know there are countless hints I missed because I'm not well-versed in all this stuff.

1) Spray rusting agent on new gun. 2) Start filming "restoration video". 3) Attempt to cycle action to demonstrate damage. 4) Hammer pins and components apart (usually sped up with mice vocals). 5) Grind or soak components in evaporust. 6) Reassemble. 7) Shoot with gloves on. 8) Much UA-cam profit and gunsmith learning.
Nice video brother thanks, I enjoy your sense of humour and have respect for taking on an apprentice 😂 without people like you willing to teach the younger generation the skills and knowledge you’ve taken a lifetime to Aquire would be lost forever
@@marknovak8255 i applaud you that’s very honourable Mark, I’ve watched the school kids videos with the model planes and running a turbo jet, I absolutely loved that they were so intrigued and have to ask were you ever a teacher or educator? I know you said you worked on subs in one video and just wanted to know a little history
beautiful patina on that one, it's almost a shame to disturb it. Maybe you should have just hung it on the wall under a sign saying "NO!" just so you can point at it when a real basket-case comes through the shop.
Haha! Good parody of all the rusted relic rehabs on UA-cam! All that gun needed was the wood replaced and a new receiver. Of course, a new set of barrels also goes without saying. In other words, there was nothing worth saving.
To the haters: Mark is a master. Watched all his videos, starting when I was still in the Army, and it really helped me out as a gunsmith just 3 years in now. Also, you're mad at a dude who simply doesn't care that you're mad haha. Considering his body of work on UA-cam, and all the knowledge he has, and all the work he's put into passing along that knowledge and experience -if you don't like it, go take your shitshow somewhere else. Or not, nobody really cares what you guys do.
Kroil is the best!!! Any product where the warnings on the can take up more space than any branding or product info and comes with an MSDS is good for me. I swear by the stuff.
Damn you Mark novak you made me piss myself laughing you my man have caught all the hack "Restorers" of firearms on youtube and made fun of everyone of them. Your the best LOL
I did a Winchester Model 12 that had been in the water for about a week. Fresh Water and cold fresh water at that. The stocks were the most work. Dried them out for a few months and then fixed a few splits. It's not 100% now but there was no pitting on the exposed metal, so the metal is near 100%.
LMFAO!!! The sad thing is I have had customers bring me a job like that AND think it should be around a hundred bucks to do. Nope, not gonna touch it, sorry not sorry!!
@ ANVIL - Mark Novak and @ mannys9130 . . . . Mark got me too ! Even though there were a number of hints, along the way, like . . . . "because I think, were probably gonna have to re-blue this !" ( 9:00 ) . . . . and, just prior, a remark about, any time you store your gun in salt water ! Also, I think Mark has presented 'April Fools' episodes before ! But, once again, as mannys9130, pointed out, Mark's repairs are so good that it's easy to fall for his antics. This channel is always enjoyable ! Thank you for the enormous time you must spend making these videos !
I'm watching this well after April Fool's and I have to say Mark, my opinion of you is so high that I thought it was legit until the very end. 😂 You're a magician, so can you blame me? Lol.
Waiting two more days to post this video would have been the best April fools youtube prank since the “vortex/hornady bullets with cameras” video put out a couple years ago 😂😂😂

A fantastic dig at the “restoration” clickbait videos
I honestly thought that you had gone too far down the rabbit hole.

Just about died laughing when he said, "recover the choke tubes without messing up the patina."
The moment you looked inside and said, light surface rust, I hoped I'd found someone to buy my Alfa Romeo.

Truly a gun that was lost in a tragic boating accident.
I love how Mark subtlety increased the ridiculous. I mean, at first I was very skeptical. But about half way through I was like, this has to be a joke, right? And then came the checkering thing and I was finally sure.
Mark's so darn good that he turned a rusted out Beretta into a beautiful blued Browning!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
Ha, a weapon that ACTUALLY got lost boating. Nice Mark, real nice.
This was actually pretty hilarious
And it took me longer to realize it was satire than I would care to admit
Yep me too watched it in its entirety to get the punchline.
Hell the way Mark works he can take a turd and polish it into Damascus
Laughed the whole way through!
Shoulda waited till Sat. (April 1) to release this.😀 You had me

I have a feeling this was supposed to be scheduled for Saturday
From now on I am ending all my remote meetings with the phrase: "CARBON BASED LIFEFORM SIGNING OFF!"
OUTSTANDING
Too early, April Fools is two days away. You just cannot fool all the people all the time.
... when the April 1st video posts early ...

"Storing your firearms in salt water remember to store them muzzle down". 😂😂
That’s what the cops in New Orleans did with confiscated firearms during Hurricane Katrina. Well, the salt water part, anyway.
"There seems to have been a preexisting flaw" will be my new excuse.
beautiful patina on that one, it's almost a shame to disturb it.
Maybe you should have just hung it on the wall under a sign saying "NO!" just so you can point at it when a real basket-case comes through the shop.
Aren't you worried that finger oils might damage the finish? It probably could've been salvaged if you were wearing gloves.
Definitely gloves, but only cellulose ones. None of that cotton garbage.
You know you're pushing hard enough when you stall the wire wheel.
I'm still crying from laughter! That's not rusted through the barrel, that' a Maryland Magnaport!
Nothing beats the magical repairing hammer. Polished urethane hammer faces!
The real joke is that Mark actually fixes the gun. That video will come out on April 1st

i love the acting, you guys were really selling it for a while there. I was laughing. Great vid!
Mark trolling a 12 min video is legit what I stay for😂
I would not have guessed it was only in the water 6 months. Looked more like a couple of years.
looked like the underside of a 15 year old automobile from the rust belt
The first few seconds of looking at that weapon I thought, Mark isn't Jesus and that shotgun isn't Lazarus...
I knew you were pulling my leg from the get-go. That made my day.
Should've posted this on April 1st 🤪
Further proof that guns are frequently lost in boating accidents
😂🤣😂
Not only are these videos amazing to watch, but the dry humor is hilarious.
As soon as he cracked the wood carelessly I was like: "This is a joke." This thing will never shoot again.
A bit of detritus... Solder on a new barrel. Awesome stuff. Thanks for the video Mark.

I spent this whole video saying there's no way😂😂😂 Mark your bloody carbon based legend 🍻
Hilarious. Loved every minute of it.
Happy April Fools to you too Mark.
When I saw the apprentice working on it I knew it was a joke.
What a great sense of humour.
I'm beginning to think that the Grand Carbon Based Lifeform is getting a bit irritated by the youtubers that are "restoring" globs of rust.
Meanwhile I'm the background making a matchlock through all those shenanigans 😂

+1 on that. I use it all the time in industrial maintenance and repair. Great stuff.
You know April 1st is tomorrow, not today.
Absolute best April Fool’s video I’ve seen. Thanks for the laugh.
This was great. When he said we will see if it needs to be reblued was hilarious
“We’ll just solder that later….”
You had us in the first...um....16 seconds, and then we knew it was a ruse.
Two months early with your April Fool's day video?😀
Mark texted me pics a couple weeks ago. No April Fools joke. 🤣🤣
Everyone needs to be giving Sheldon a big round of applause. Steady hand and a dream apprenticeship,.
Now the ATF will know guns can be recovered from boating acidents. Noooo!
Damn you Mark novak you made me piss myself laughing you my man have caught all the hack "Restorers" of firearms on youtube and made fun of everyone of them. Your the best LOL
"Looks like we turned this into an acryglas video" ! 🤣
Any repair that starts with Percussive Maintenance has my attention.
The skill of using a big ball pien gently isn't taught anymore
That took longer to realise than id like to admit. My excuse is this Video was uploaded on March 31. in MY timezone.
"...light surface rust..." 🤪
Looked like a Stoeger... if so, it wasn't "dropped" overboard, it was thrown! Should make an excellent tomato stake! 😂
Repairing a firearm in this condition is surprisingly easy. Simply throw it away and buy a new one.

Love the humor! That mess can be useful for "practice" without the worry of messing up a fine firearm. Well, to a degree.......
...and you did that whole 12 minutes with a straight face, until the end...you're tha best...
Only a hammer with an extra fine polish job will fix that thing. 😂
Thanks for the content, guys. 🤙🏽
Are you now doing the hopelessly rusty restoration videos? I'll bet if you boil it about 10 minutes 95% of the blued finish will come back!
No, no we are not. Just sayin........................
I could taste the rust through the screen.
Owning jeeps in New England, I'm very familiar with what that tastes and smells like.
Saltwater Gunmites are voracious eaters. If left undisturbed, a colony can consume up to three pounds of gun in just one year.
this conent is absolutly gold. i have been waiting a long time for a rusty rescue like this and oh boy did you deliver. bravo.
