The lady wanted to give me 20% off and I keep the item, which would be just a fan at this point as the filtration part was at fault.. so basically a glorified fan. I told her if I needed a fan that I’d go buy a box fan for a tenth of the price, which would serve the same purpose. Had she offered to give me 20% off and send me a new Shark neverchange pure max, as I had… it might be a different story. There’s no need to keep this private. I’m not upset, I’m getting my money back, rightfully so. No harm, no foul. I just wish that after spending that amount of money that a product would work correctly the first time. That’s all! Thats a lot to ask for these days, I know. 😢

The question is will filters be available in 5 years the way in home tech moves these days I’d say in about 2-3 years these machines will be obsolete and shark would have moved on discontinuing these products. Happens all the time these days get something that needs to be changed on a regular basis that would be the best thing to do holds them accountable to keep parts readily available. Plus that “5 year guarantee” depends on many factors including the location of your purifier as some areas may not be as “dirty” as others

Just a note. I bought mine from Sam's and had no instructions, video is fine but no need to remove bottom to remove plastic on filter, there is no plastic on the filter.

Is it bad for the unit if I ran it without removing the bag? I accidentally did that for a few hours

Im guessing you got a returned one they accidentally resold.. ours had the hepa filter in a sealed plastic bag
It must’ve been used.
Used. Mine just arrived from Sam’s and it DEFINITELY has a plastic bag. Keeps the HEPA filter in pristine condition until use. You got a used one.
Mind did have a plastic bag over it. You must have gotten one that somebody already took to home, unbound and then returned. You are giving bad advice
