    Thanks for this. There is another part of this solo that occurs around a minute 20 into the recording before finishing up with what you showed us. Can you cover that part?

    Excellent, sir! This is a really nice approach to the lead guitar melody. Did I miss it, or did this lesson include the lead guitar over the bridge? I give it 5 stars and am a subscriber. I've played for 46 years and find your videos thoughtful and helpful.

    I'm old enough to remember when this song was popular on the AM radio. It was a great song then, and it still is.Ii'm curious how a young fellow like you discovered it.

      Totally agree. As someone who’s trying to actually learn music theory after “playing guitar” for 25 years, I appreciate note names.

    Jon, i really appreciate your videos. I can't begin to tell you how much they have helped me in my meager attempt to master the guitar. I would like to understand better how you get the sounds out of your guitar. i know it is more than just reverb on the amp. you must be using some pedal. i would really like to know more about the differences the pedals make. I got lost at 6:48-6:52. "Slide from 6 to 8 and then". I don't know what your fingers were doing in that moment after you said "and then"

    Any tips on getting similar tone to what you have here?

    • @JohnnyRebKy

      He’s using overdrive to play it unlike most people. It’s usually played clean. Use a pedal or set your amp a bit above where it begins to break up

    What scale used in this melody?

    • @jonmaclennan
      @jonmaclennan  3 роки тому +2

      Hey great question. So it's not scales. If you classify it though it would actually be using multiple scales like C mixolydian, then an F minor scale at certain points. I actually teach an approach to soloing that doesn't use scales. It's an approach that is much easier! You can read about it in my free book: www.jonmaclennan.com/freebook Also if you need the tabs for this you can get them here: www.jonmaclennan.com/ytv hope that helps!

    You get sidetracked and talk to much and take away from a good lesson.

      I wholly disagree with this comment, as I truly appreciated the explanation of his voicings and note locations. Teaching guitar is more than telling us where to put our fingers. It also involves explaining why, as there are many different ways to play the same note and chord. If you don’t agree with his approach, I encourage you to create your own lesson, as, like you, some people appreciate a different, more streamlined and untheoretical approach.

    Are you using a compressor for this? Other than the tremolo.
