The 2020 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster is one of the fastest top-down motoring experiences on the planet. All-but identical to the SVJ Coupe, the 770 HP naturally-aspirated cruise missile capable of a ridiculous 6:44 Nurburgring time (a production car record last year) except for a bit of extra weight, the SVJ roadster is one of a kind, simultaneously leading its class in performance and remaining semi-analog in a sea of digital contemporaries. And the sound simply cannot be missed.
Lamborghini North America provided the vehicle, insurance, a night in a hotel, and 2 meals in exchange for this review.

This is exactly what an Aventador should be. Who cares if it weights over 4K pounds, Halo supercar by Lamborghini should be violently loud and exciting, topless and overpowered. Sportiness is a Huracan's job.

The thing that shocked me about the couple was how brutal it was under full throttle but composed for normal use. No doubt, this is the best all-round performing Aventador. I can only imagine the heightened sensation in the topless form 😎

The LFA & Carrera GT both sound glorious and probably have a better overall tone than the SVJ but I was at an event this weekend where there was one of nearly everything and the LFA & Carrera GT's are quieter than you would expect and the SVJ there was sooo loud in comparison. There were new DBS's, GT3's GT3RS's, a Senna etc etc and the SVJ was probably the loudest car there bar maybe the GT8... I'm only talking volume, I said to the GF the LFA sounded like a muted F1 car.

I’m still surprised they were able to get a single clutch transmission to shift that fast. It’s no PDK, but it’s still damn fast. They somehow were able to get that ancient 9 year old single clutch transmission to drill keep up with more modern DCTs. Crazy.

Actually you could, Ed Bolian does. The way I understood it, you’d need to take the carbon sports seats since they are thinner and sit lower in the cabin. But it also depends on how proportioned your body is, i.e. how much of your height are your legs and how much is the rest

My dad has the 2008 gallardo spyder 5.0L. We love the single clutch. It’s more true to the raw Lamborghini experience.

Ryan Cairns you’re also talking about the very fastest stock supercar on the planet, of course it’s an exception.
It has its own way of combatting traction by having boost by gear. It doesn’t lay down all 720 horses in the first gear plus it has a sophisticated dct, not sure how aventadors are now but they couldn’t even fit a dct in it in the past.
The sound of these V12's during launch control is insane
People don't understand how intelligent tuners like this are... You take a 2000$ car, add 10k in mods, it stays reliable, gets great gas mileage, cost pennies to insure and repair and WINS!!! While the lambo driver pays 200K+, has an unreliable car, gets horrible gas mileage, cost a fortune to insure and repair and still LOSES. I don't care if the Lambo gets you more sluts and STD's, the point is that tuners understand the game. Built not bought!

I love the size of the Lamborghini. I had Lamborghini SV and I'm sorry I traded it. I traded it for a 720's while I love the 720 ass it is like driving is can of sardines.it also does not feel as planted and is heavy yes heavy feels good when you are driving this car. you don't buy this car to go fast yes it's fast it's not the fastest but the sound the emotion deluxe the whole package just demolishes any other car. Including V8. Don't even talk about forced induction are turbochargers they just don't equate to the fun that you can have with a V12 naturally aspirated engine

I miss when lamborghini wasnt a german company, as this design just looks, strange, half sesto elemento, part NSX, and then the weird vents at the front, while functional just ruin the trunk space and make it look like a mouse from the front. Plus what is the point of a car like this now, as back when lambo was lambo 180 190 top ends ment that well, tops your going to be doing 120 to 130 around a race track, and that 90 mph wasnt that boring in these, now it just looks like some super german cruiser with a v12 stapled to the back, like an Audi with 2 extra bangers stapled to its 10 and a bodykit made to mimic an italian car from ferrari rather than an actual lamborghini.
as how screwed up is it that the company that was literally made to make 812 Superfast like cars, is now stuck remaking the Diablo in this and Baby diablo form without any of the design that made that car cool.
as you can always tell a german car by three factors, the interiors all black with a stitching highlight instead of tricolor IE Carpet black or brown, red or blue, then the seat leather, with a black dash pad.
and then the paints metallic instead of a hard solid to make a statement, as to round the edges to make it look more sleek in a germans eye, and the edges are all purpose made with no flare to it for the sake of it.
and while this isnt the worst lambo design theiy've ever made, that would be the hurican with its base model, which looks like an LFA crashed into a gallardo, it still looks kinda meh, not ugly, but not pretty either.
as if you put this thing next to a Diablo Roadster or even a Murcie roadster of about 15 years ago, I can guarantee you no one would be looking at this thing.
hell about the best thing about it is the color, which seems to be a rip off of the miura roadsters color remade for a modern car with less flake in it.

They usually work with CHP to close down a stretch of road(for an hour or two)for these tests. But with The Smoking Tire I always see traffic which would seem just the opposite.
Shutting the road down costs serious Motor trend money and you can see that there are other cars on the road. They do videos when most people are at work or at least hauling a giant log on the road.

Here in Arkansas there are certain roads where there is hardly ever an LEO. It just kinda understood if you drive like an ass on certain roads and wreck that you get what you deserve. Plus, some of these roads are isolated and your fastest way to a hospital is by Air-Evac.

The first owners take A spanking but I have to say that if money were no issue I’d love an SVJ coupe new apex’s today order. Favorite Lambo all-time? Diablo SE30... the real Homologated light weight special.
