i understand maleficent she would only revenge the king is evil what he did is so bad and maleficent lost his mind she was misunderstood the child give her trust what the king have destroyed and she did with her love try the curse disconected the curse is to strong how much she loved that child that can not vilian be
I brought my mom to see this when it came out and I absolutely loved that the fact it was a mothers love that broke the curse. Mothers love is forever.
"I will not ask you for forgiveness. What I have done is unforgivable. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. I never dreamed that I could love you so much. You stole what was left of my heart. And now I've lost you forever."
Person you hurt says, "Aren't you going to at least say you're sorry?!" You, "I will not ask you for forgiveness. What I have done is unforgivable." Cheesy way to always avoid saying sorry to anyone. It's not up to the offender to decide what is unforgivable. Once Aurora awoke she deserved a real apology and it would be up to Aurora to decide. That aside, Aurora's not very smart in this movie, so meh.
Is this scene it became clear to me that maleficent truly loves aurora as if she were her own daughter and aurora loves maleficent as if she was her birth mother
yeah 👍and the last time aurora saw her she was hurt and angry with her after finding out it was her that cursed her, then woke up 1st things she sees is maleficent and totally forgave her
He was the only villain in their lives. Maleficent acknowledges what she did was wrong, Stefan never did. He made up excuses to never apologize. Maleficent gave her reasons and realized how hollow they were when hurting someone who had nothing to do with what happened. Aurora only ever saw the good in them both
I love the little double smile that Aurora does. It's the exact smile baby Aurora does when Maleficent comes to window & calls her Beasty for the first time. Symmetry is a beautiful thing.
I love the way Maleficent spoke to Aurora: “Sweet Aurora,” “And not a day shall pass that I don’t miss your smile,” then leaned in and kissed her, breaking the curse. I love the way Aurora’s eyes open, and she looked up and sees Maleficent. She smiles.
Amen sister! And Sam Riley is the hottest man ever to grace the silver screen. And he's such an amazing actor! He doesn't get much of a chance to really show off his acting skills in the role of Diaval - but go and watch his performances in Control and in On The Road - he's jaw droppingly good.
I love that this scene expresses that “true love” isn’t just something shared between 2 lovers, but it could be a platonic type of love as well. Both forms of love are so powerful
I actually have a fanfic alternate ending to this scene where when maleficent kissed Aurora’s head, it not only broke the spell but also made Aurora half fairy. Because when maleficent broke the spell some of her magical energy was sent into aurora and she grew white wings and horns the color of a oak tree and also gained the ability to use magic. maleficent then decided to adopt aurora as her daughter.
i mean…imho it sorta does bc it’s all bc of LOVE (God is love) that we can overcome our hate and shame and pain and shadows and rebuke satan. so true live does sorta always come from one “man” Jesus the messiah who deposits love in us, who lives in us, with authority over darkness and loss and betrayal. it’s just that “God” the “i am that i am” is more than a man, they are multifaceted and above gender roles. but Jesus a man reconciles us to Godly love. imo.
Sometimes true love is not romantic, my mom always said we were soulmates, this movie helped me understand what she meant. I love her with all my heart ❤
I'm gonna have words with my brother... he left a pack of onions in my bad... the little bugger. Beautiful movie... the only live action remake I actually enjoyed.
this scene was like disney atoning for the fact that they always killed off the mothers or made all the step mothers in their stories evil lol. such a beautiful scene
Maleficent truly loves aurora. She hasn't tried to define those feelings. She thought that true love was only meant to be romantic. And, she now realizes that the love she has for aurora is sincere and true - true love.
I feel like this scene shows real Jolie's life when she adopted baby Maddox. After adopted him, her life has been totally changed in good way. I can see the Jolie's warm honey-heart to Aurora through the photo with baby Maddox.
I like what they did with Maleficent, instead of her being the traditional Disney Villain, they made her a three-dimensional character, also a mother figure to Aurora, that’s a great power right there, Motherly Love, you can’t beat Motherly Love.
I like both. One shows the unexplainable evil, the other shows the reason for said evil. Its a good twist, but damn disney, could you not keep using the same fomula? It will only work once or twice, but now you're just milking it!
The two things it shows, True love can be anyone not necessarily in a 'romantic' way. And second, it's not her own mother. Motherly love can be from anyone who takes care of you like one.❤
Maleficent didn't "take care" of Aurora in the entire film. She never fed her or bathed her or provided her shelter or taught her (manners, hygiene, education, etc). She only saved Aurora from the cliff because she wanted her curse fulfilled. Maleficent bullied the 3 pixie fairies which distracted them causing Aurora to almost fall off the cliff. All of Aurora's problems in the film were caused by Maleficent. Aurora literally says Maleficent only "watched her from the shadows"... that's what child stalkers do.
Too bad Disney can’t get their other live action remakes on par with this iconic rewrite. Scene after scene, we watched Maleficent’s affection grow stronger and stronger towards Aurora that we could see where it was going but, I’m not gonna lie, this scene was a tear jerker hearing such humble, sorrowful words of regret. I remember just thinking: “ By all that is holy and good, someone hear these words. No greater love can be expressed than this” When Aurora woke, I was like: “That’s how ya do it, Disney. Right there!” That is how you write!” Hopefully one day, new focus groups will emerge and thoroughly analyze movies like Maleficent for contrast and comparison to the massive near-decade of nothing but flops Disney has been dishing out! What a scene!
Honestly, I thought it would have been the Crow... But very happy that it was the 'mothers' kiss. Nothing romantic, just pure love. edit-"no truer love"
Best liveaction movie and beautiful ending. The acting is perfect and i love that they changed the story. I especially love that they gave Aurora a persionality since she has an improtain role. Aurora's super beautiful, kind, positive, friendly, confident and so brave. Elle played her perfectly. Also i love that they made Maleficent a hero in the end cause at first she was a good girl but she got betrayed from her best friend. He took away the thing she needed the most whic made her become a villain but in the end she realised that you gotta just be brave, let others help and belive in yourself.
I remember watching this movie in theatre and throughout the whole thing I was thinking how meh it was. Then this moment made it all worth it. Goddam remember it to this day.
When I saw this scene in the movie theater I quoted Frozen and said “An act of true love will thaw a frozen heart” and it’s true. Maleficent’s heart was frozen with hatred but Aurora warmed her heart with her love and that motherly kiss was the last push to thaw Maleficent’s heart completely
okay touching moment aside, the set design for the castle is so cool! just the shot encompassing Aurora's room is so magnificent to look at and has so many medieval royal details. The movie is so pretty
"I shall not ask for your forgiveness. Because what I have done to you is unforgiven. I was so lost in hatred and revenge. Sweet Aurora. You stole what was left of my heart. And now I've lost you forever. I swear no harm will come to you as long as I live. And not a day shall pass that I don't miss your smile."
This is my favorite scene and also when Maleficent gets her wings back. Maleficent love Aurora. Maleficent 1: Maleficent's true love kiss Maleficent 2: Aurora's true love tears Maleficent is more than Aurora's fairy Godmother. She's Aurora's mother. And Aurora is Maleficent's daughter.
People spit on Frozen but remember it is sisterly love which is shown rather than romantic love, just like motherly love or guardian love in this movie.
It's my favorite scene from the movie! The meaning of true love! True love - caring, sincerity, not confined to blood relationships, not limited to romantic love, true intense feelings of care, and compassion.
I love this. It's refreshing to see true love doesn't always have to be just the 'romantic' type
Oh yea that what I love about this scene the most. True love is always in different shape and size. This show correctly that example.
Yes, I loved that too❤️👏🏽💪🏽
i understand maleficent
she would only revenge
the king is evil
what he did is so bad and maleficent lost
his mind she was misunderstood
the child give her trust what the king have destroyed
and she did with her love
try the curse disconected
the curse is to strong
how much she loved that child
that can

newsflash - true love is quite rarely romantic or sexual in nature.
YES THIS!!! that's why it's the most iconic movie ever
I brought my mom to see this when it came out and I absolutely loved that the fact it was a mothers love that broke the curse. Mothers love is forever.

Angelina Jolie was fantastic in this. She plays a good villain but she loved her toward the end. True love
@Kelp Fish yup
She isn't evil, she had bad luck
Maleficent loved the child of the man who hurt her the most. Let that sink in...

This and Cinderella are the best Disney remakes so far in my opinion.
Cinderella same story' about princes?
Everyone talking about Maleficent and Aurora mom/daughter goals but nobody's gonna talk about Diaval being best gay uncle
When Maleficent placed the curse on Aurora she said she would be “Beloved by all who meet her.” Maleficent was affected by her own curse.
The two things it shows,
