Looks-wise, I've always been fond of this ship.
The Excelsior has always been my favorite starship. Great looking, in my opinion.
I'd probably get one if I had the extra cash because I'm a hardcore Excelsior fan but in my opinion the Diamond Select Toys version looks a lot nicer in terms of detail and accuracy and vs. the price point. If do start collecting Eaglemoss this will undoubtedly be one of the first I would get.
Thanks for the review! But I gotta ask where you found that warp core drive light in the background?? Thanks!
“ My God ! That’s A Big Ship ... “ Question Is The XL Excelsior Eagle Moss Close in The Correct Scale With Diamond Select Enterprise 1701 - D ? If So I will be buying Eaglemoss XL Excelsior .
Not bad looking but also has some issues. The name on the top of the saucer shouldn't go across like it does but should curve with the registry, the only time it did that was after the model they made for Voyager had it's name changed back to Excelsior for the Star Trek Exhibition tour. The model looks to be more based on the second 4' studio model the made for the Voyager episode. You also talked about how plain it looks on the side of the impulse engines and it is missing detail there, it should have large blue sections there that follow the shape of the impulse area. I could point out a lot of other things but that would make for a long post! Not worth the price to me.
Same here!
Those center nacelle stripes should be a dark metallic color, not transparent blue. That said, it looks amazing with the light shining through, so I give it a pass.
Do they scale the models together accurately or are they all approximately the same physical size? Always fascinating seeing how much bigger the Ex is to the E.
They aren't scaled together at all, unfortunately
3 years later… I got the enterprise A XL, and it’s a tad bigger than the excelsior XL
She is a beauty.
Really that ship is bigger than the enterprise in the movies
Wow this one And HotWheels are very nice in their own details!
I like how this is nice and Big compared to hotwheels version
My god, that's a big ship.
khartog01 Not so big as her captain, I think.
Aye, and if my grandmother had wheels, she'd be a wagon...
When I first saw the Excelsior in the movies, I thought she was very ugly; I hated the huge birth canal of a deflector dish section and the black neck. She grew on me over the years and eventually became my favorite ship in terms of looks.
Have you guys gotten your hands on the Scimitar yet? I got one myself and it's a interesting model to say the least
How does this compare with the Enterprise B? I was a bit disappointed with it...
Were can i get one .
That ship is bigger than the enterprise in the movie
Is there any difference between the two versions of the ship other than the registry? 🤔
GoodOldGamer Yes, lots. The NX had a different less detailed bridge. The shuttlebay detail is very different, and there was one big impulse crystal on the saucer.
Fly her apart!
The Aztecing is a little dark in my opinion
17:05 the nacelles don't look aligned with the secondary hull which bugs me
David G In what way? The connect to the ‘bulge’ and done rest on the main body.
Colour palette looks more like the Enterprise B
Captain you do an excellent job on your ship reviews. Very honest and informative.
You and Scotty both....
Irish Trekee still around?
Diamond Select model looks better.
I bought the Diamond Select to go with the XL Eaglemoss Enterprise and Reliant because they are VERY close to scale. The EM Excelsior is way too small to go with Enterprise and Reliant.
me i have the fun of doing some type of star fleet ship beattel game that my take on it good model toy ship see as do new i did see the vids
This one gives me greater appreciation for the DST Excelsior!
I think I'll get the EM as well. I love the aztecing!
oh the edge is gross, windows just put anywhere ignoring the paint app.. much prefer the diamond select which i imagine cost about the same, eaglemoss should be really disapointed in this one dents along the edge, packaging isn't that hard.
lol it looks like you shook the box for ages, all the paint is ugh.
also the excelsior is a great ship.
Eaglemoss has been slacking off with magazines latly last 3 specials nothing
"looks good overall" - no it doesn't, it looks completely scuffed every edge is scuffed like they threw it around, missing paint apps, its a 6/10 buy a diamond select one, this is clearly him pulling his punches because eaglemoss pays him, very disapointing.
He did say the box got scrunched and there was damage, might have scuffed the paint rubbing on the foam repeatedly once the box was misaligned and the engines were popped loose. The missing paint is a flaw for sure though.
so your saying because eaglemoss didn't put enough thought into shipping its likely everyone will get a damaged version? its the same thing, its not packaged well, the paint app is really bad, considering this is a "XL" model it'd expect it to look better considering the price tag.
there is really no excuse for how poor it looks.
@@dawfydd No. I did not say that. Talk to yourself if you want to generate fictional "im so right" arguments.
so how'd the box get scrunched? how the contents of a box get damaged if it was packaged well? i mean no need to address any points if you are convinced everyone but you is always wrong.
Without a doubt the ugliest ship in any sci-fi genre
