We had a teacher, last name H*tler.
She swore her husband was the nephew of H*tler.
We spent the entire year terrified.
This was about 1974 in The U.S.
He was a huge topic in our history books.

    You mentioned Arthur.
The Welsh monk and historian Nennius wrote that Arthur fought his first battle where the Glen Water meets the River Irvine in what is now my home town of Darvel. The spot is only five minutes walk from my house.
Nennius also told us that Arthur "Artor", was Romano Celt, just as I am. My father was Scottish and my mother Italian.
I have known for almost 60 years that I am an incarnation of Arthur, long before I had ever heard of Nennius.
Truly, I have been many people. I was once given a shocking list of my past incarnations, but it proved to be false.

Thanks Neil. The Mongols had great success at that time because in most of the lands over run there was little resistance. In Europe their was only a small number of armed men in large towns and cities. The first to organize properly were the Hungarians where the King ordered the manufacture of armour ,swords and lances. Horses were procured and walls built around large towns. They knew the mongols would would be back again for the easy pickings and it happened. The huge Mongal army could not break through the walls and suffered big losses trying and so retreated to regroup. As they did the Gates opened and the much smaller force of armoured men on armoured horses attacked and cut through the Mongals repeatedly killing large numbers of fleeing mongols. This tactic was used elsewhere sending the Mongol remnants fleeing home. There were further attempts to return for pillage but the element of surprise was lost. Slow to react but decisive when they did. Same with the Muslim invasion when every town was on its own until ''The Hammer ''took a stand. I only found out about this through Neils video from a few weeks ago.

It is hard to imagine how he was able to control such a large territory after conquering it. Every time he left behind some of his army to keep the population in line it would have gotten smaller

There's a prejudice that he and his descendants were ignorant barbarians, who didn't practice things like basic hygeine and could barely read. I don't know why this weird prejudice was promulgated, but you'll often see it in slighting references to him and to his family. In reality, they were immensely intelligent, and exceptional as administrators. He actually kept a system where news was brought to him very quickly and efficiently over great distances, and both he and his descendants had a real knack for picking the right people to delegate tasks to. It is only by the luckiest chance (or grace of God, if you think the way I do) that his nephew Batu turned back from conquering all Europe. At any rate, he was able to control that territory because he was really good at getting the right people for the job.

I read in early years when T. KHAN before he came Genghis Khan he ensured the pedigree of war horses to be the best, strong and fastest.
The other point to join the tribes together many towns and cities where built and or rebuilt as huge fortress with water supplies and storage barns. The tribes families were brought into live while the old enough males were trained in warfare.
Some of the ancient cities remains can still be seen. The thickness of the walls and hard to reach places many were built in makes one wonder where they got their skills when compared to today's odd structural attempts.
The workforce must have been amazing in size and skills to complete the structures in a short time they were built. Not like other societies at same time frame which took longer to build less complex forts and cities.

I have a vague memory of Genghis McCann being mentioned by Billy Connolly a long long time ago, so he does live on in many different ways. Conn Iggulden's novels on Genghis Khan are largely good, though the concluding volume was disappointing.

17:11 “The traditional narrative says he died in 1227 from injuries sustained in a fall from a horse, but other sources list everything from malaria to an arrow wound in the knee. One of the more questionable accounts even claims he was murdered while trying to force himself on a Chinese princess.”
I don’t believe he died in the manner you described. I believe he died of injuries from a fall.

"To honor or sully Genghis Khan's memory, both friends and foes of the Mongols told a number of legends about his death, the scientists said. One story claims he succumbed to blood loss after getting stabbed or castrated by a princess of the Tangut people, a Tibeto-Burman tribe in northwest China. Others suggested he died of injuries sustained after tumbling from his horse, fell in battle against the Chinese or died of an infected arrow wound during his final campaign against the Western Xia.
In the new study, the researchers suggested that all of these legends were likely invented well after Genghis Khan's death."
    ~From Livescience
Also heard he might have died from a bloody nose that wouldn't stop bleeding.

Many years ago I watched a program covering this same topic. It was stated that a sign of his bloodline was a small patch of skin on the lower back , just above the hips; that was called an ash mark. It would look like a smudge of ashes from a fireplace. They showed a few examples of it. So, I went to the bathroom and looked at my back, there it was! I was very surprised as I am Irish and Swedish. I don't know if it is true about the ash mark, but it makes for a good story.

If you want to know the truth about ancient peoples and civilisations, read the book, written and researched by Steven M. Collins, entitled, `The Ten ``Lost`` Tribes Of Israel Found`. It proves just how inaccurate past and current teachings about the official and accepted empires and civilisations which supposedly shaped the modern world, are. It is currently out of print but is available as a downloadable e book.
