I totally agree. Any of the internet idiots who think this new M5 with AWD is not a typical M car is right. Its not a typical M car, its much better. Anyone who knows about cars knows that a powerful car like the M5 will perform better, especially sharp corners at high speed with an AWD system. M5 is the top choice. In the case of two out of three then BMW and the Caddy. Why? Because the sound of the supercharger is simply unique and the drivability of this thing is something extraordinary.
M5 definitely no doubt .... It is more advance than the two, etc you can actually use gesture control for commands and gesture control to drag and move the cameras around the car and also I love the upgraded touch screen key fob that you can achieve data and have control of the vehicle. BMW is the first to innovate the I DRIVE control which is the best in the market today. And there is a lot more technology that I can’t go into right now. The M5 is more of a driver car its more controllable and compare to the amg (where the gear lever is on the steering wheel) the M5 is right were you need it to be. Overall the M5 is the fastest (not to mention the competition package), it is more comfortable and have more styling and also you have more options to choose from. M5 is like having 2 cars in 1 you can take it on the track or you can drive normally with your family inside very comfortable, this is why the BMW M5 IS TRULY THE ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE.
Adding to what Bennie said, they make anywhere between 630-650hp depending on the mileage of the car and the dyno used. Cars that are still "tight" (lower mileage just over the run in mileage) make just over 630hp. There are claims of M5s making up to 670hp, but that's not realistic. The AMG E63S is also making in the region of 650hp, not the 603bhp Merc claim.
the trunk space was always designed to easily take golf bags in and out, paperwork with diagrams will show the customer how to store 2 golf bags in the trunk space.
Cadillac all the way for me. It's simply more fun to drive, and that's what driving is all about. Most of the modern BMWs leave me cold, they are simply too "robotic", as Alex says, to drive.
Have the '17 CTS V. Love it (style / price / handling). If I had the money for a second, probably go with the Merc (interior / engine sound / similar acceleration to BMW). BMW is a little too stealthy.
Impressed with the performance and tech. Like the gear knob and it's shift pattern. Steering wheel is great. But still no break though interior and the styling outside, well, it's still very......Nissan!
Doesn’t the Charger Hellcat compete with the M5, even though it’s not a luxury sedan and the interior isn’t as refined as the Germans? The hellcat is insanely powerful w 700hp, and the same ZF 8 speed as the m5. Yes it lacks AWD, but for a RWD only sedan, 0-60 times are very close to the m5, and the biggest ace for the dodge: it’s half the price.
I'd like to see proof of this 2.8s 0-60 (and I mean standstill to 60, not using rollout). I've seen Vbox verified 3.1s 0-60 times but never under 3. For the record the 720S is capable of a 2.5s 0-60 on the right surface and using it's OEM tyres (Pirelli P Zero Corsa). The CC brakes are not designed to reduce braking distances, they are designed to be used for repeated high speed braking in order to reduce fade. In a one off test you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between standard steel brakes and the CC brakes.
Generally speaking most 0-60 times given are using 1 foot of rollout. It's arguably a silly way to measure, but that's the generally accepted standard. For the record, the 720s we tested in September with OEM tires ran 2.8-3.0s (again with rollout) mainly due to traction. 2.8 was the fastest time but that required throttle modulation, extra care and a bit of luck. Also for the record, Car and Driver got a shockingly similar 0-60 and 1/4 mile time out of their M5 tester.
Actually we were able to test the M5 with and without the ceramic brakes and even in initial braking tests they reduced stopping distances by 9-10 feet on average even when the brakes were cool.
@@AAutoBuyersGuide Wait a minute. I do understand that AWD offers an advantage in intital acceleration. But, are you suggesting it is much easier to record sub 3s 0-60mph times in an M5 than a 720s? Because, numerous car journalists/enthusiats recorded 0-60mph time 2.5-2.7s (with rollout), in testing the car. And without rollout, 2.8-2.9s. Road & Track even noted that the would never know the 720s isn't AWD based upon the way it launches. On the other hand, I've never heard anyone record 2.5-2.7s 0-60mph times in testing the M5.
WAIT!!!...If Toyota has no android, the kids go crazy BUT this has no android play & yet some on here want to wait til it’s 10 years old when they can afford it to buy it?...Odd
The ride on the E63S is harsh, even in Comfort mode. It is not supple like you mentioned. It sounds like you're making an assumption based on the fact that it has air suspension. The ride is actually much more supple and comfortable on the M5. Between the M5 and the E63S, I would pick the M5. The CTS-V is an older model. It will be interesting to see what the CT5-V (CTS-V replacement) is like when it comes out.
Right, but there's "firm", and then there's "knock your fillings out firm"... The M5 actually has a surprisingly comfortable ride. The ride on the E63S is quite brutal, unfortunately.
Strange - very different from my experience - I own the new M5 and test drove the E63S a couple of times. Actually, even the E43 AMG has a harsher ride than the M5 in my experience, although not as harsh as the E63S. Also, your experience is different from that of other reviewers who compared the M5 and the E63S. The ride quality is the most frequent complaint about the E63S, and one of the biggest contrasts between the M5 and the E63S... Anyway, I do agree with the rest of your review - I think the other points were good.
Agreed. I've never heard of anyone getting a real world 2.8s 0-60 (without rollout which is a cheat). 3 to 3.1s has been achieved and recorded. Even a M5 that had a remap to in excess of 700hp "only" achieved a 2.9s 0-60. To set the record straight on the 720S they have been recorded to 60 in 2.5s (no rollout).
Car And Driver has also clocked a 2.8 with this new model. Our times are with rollout. I understand why some folks dislike the rollout method, however that is the most common way of describing 0-60 times. In our test of the 720S (video coming soon) traction is an issue and our best times were in the 2.8-2.9 second range with most runs being around 3.0
Our tests with the 720 *were* with rollout. The issue is traction. That's why the Jeep Trackhawk does so well despite it being a cupcake shy of 3 tons. If the 720 was on a perfect surface, it would beat the M5 every single time. But that's not reality. In the real world you'll be hard pressed to get to 60 faster than the M5. However, the 720 makes SO MUCH power that by the time the 1/4 mile happens it has absolutely smoked the BMW.
This is a car that designed purely for lease, it was designed in a way that once your warranty expires your monthly repair bills would exceed your original payment on the car.
No Contest here Alex! You get a Much bigger interior in the Impala and it will still get you to and from point A and B for a Mere Fraction of the cost of one of these 3. You can ALL thank me later for saving you all a ton of money. ;)
M5 for the win. Its not showy like the E63 and the CTSV isn't luxurious enough. You're right, the M5 is a "sleeper" and that's why you get a 4 door. If you want attention, get a 911 or Jag F.

Yes it lacks AWD, but for a RWD only sedan, 0-60 times are very close to the m5, and the biggest ace for the dodge: it’s half the price.
or if you just want to spin into a tree HAHAHA
If this truly makes 0-60 in 2.8/2.9 then I'd prefer it to the 'Godzilla' any day any time.
Confirmed; it does (well, the Competition does so the non might be a tick behind but still under 3).
HURRAY ! NO MORE DCT ! Too bad for the manual going away too.
AWD . . . now you can drive your M5 come hail or high tide.
Cts-v in black.😎
The worst thing about owning an F90 M5 is not being able to test it's limits on a daily basis. 🙄
5 Seats in the back O.o sounds cramped

The Tesla Model S P100D hits the mark well under 3s, without the 1-foot rollout rule, though.

Wait a minute.
Bmw the benchmark
I can't believe I watched that crazy long review just for him to whimp out on giving his opinion on which he feels is best.
"supple" is relative here since they are all firm.
Right, but there's "firm", and then there's "knock your fillings out firm"... The M5 actually has a surprisingly comfortable ride. The ride on the E63S is quite brutal, unfortunately.
I found the 2018 E63S we drove quite livable all things considered.
You left off the number one competitor to M5. Porsche Panamera Turbo would be superior in every way.
I'd get the E63. I like the styling and I like Mercedes as a brand more.
2.8 🤔
Come on dawg
@@AAutoBuyersGuide with rollout 720 should hit 2.0 🤣
Can't fix a transmission. The CTS V interior looks cheaper and not well done. I'd go with the M5 or 2 G90s.
Unless the transmission in the E63 is catastrophically bad, the E63 seems to be the best overall.
