    I breast fed for 13m and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism with TSH of 8 at 4m post partum. Between fasting and cutting down on sugar, caffeine, and omitting processed food i tested my thyroid again 8m pp and my TSH was a 3. They told me i no longer needed levothyroxine. I only took it for about 2 weeks before I stopped because it made me feel worse that and paxil because my OB said I had post partum depression. I wanted to heal naturally even though I was originally told I would be on a pill forever. Nutrition is key. I really think you can regain thyroid fuction in the beginning without meds. It isn't a cure but it controls Hashimoto's flare ups. If you can treat the cause of inflammation through healing the body at a cellular level your thyroid returns to a normal fuctional state. I even did pro long fasts for 48hrs that consist of 2 liters of water where I put
    1.)Potassium Chloride powder (1tsp)
    or 2560mg
    2.)Sodium Chloride (Pink Himalayan Salt) (1/2) tsp 840mg
    3.)Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) (1tsp) 1080mg
    4.) Magnesium Sulphate (Food Grade Espom Salt) (1/2 tsp) 200mg
    I had energy and mental clarity and absolutely no light headedness. I could sleep 8hrs and actually wake up like a morning person for once. This type of fasting keeps you regulated while you detox where you aren't miserable.

    So nice to hear more people speak about it. I found out that I had Hypothyroidism when I was pregnant with my son, 7 years ago. I didn’t produce any breast milk with my son & daughter. It was very frustrating. Overall everything that comes with it is frustrating. I recently started taking Liothynine & has helped me soooooo much. I could go on & on about all my experiences. People don’t understand how hard it can be. Thank you for sharing your experience. I don’t feel so alone in this. ❤️

    Thank you for this video! I also have hashimotos and have noticed changes since giving birth two years ago. The connections between this autoimmune disease are so unknown and it’s so helpful to hear someone else talk about the same symptoms and making the connection with this disease.

    This video seems so realistic... especially with the comment about taking vitamins. It's really hard to take several tablets a day. It gets daunting. Plus if you are anything like me who gets anxious when taking a tablet it makes it harder - because you become reluctant to take the things that will make you feel better.

      Yes, same! All 4 of my children I struggled terribly. I couldn’t loose weight and no one would do further testing on my thyroid other than TSH which always came back normal. Doctors refused to check my TPO until now when several family members have tested positive for Hashimoto.

    I battled to fall pregnant, I was on fertility drugs. I was irregular since age 13. I also had terrible facial pains and trigeminal neuralgia right into my 40ties. Then I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I took eltroxin for 6 months and was "regular" for the first time ever. I then decided to have a total hysterectomy to combat the facial pains. I also suffer from psoriasis.

    Susan, I found you through that initial video and it gave me SO much positivity as I was going through hashimotos and pregnancy too! I just wanted to say diet will change your life! Lowering your sugar and getting rid of the gluten will really give your body such a helping hand and you will never look back! Seeking health methly multivitamins and a strong omega 3 are also musts I find. As is bone broth (esp for breastfeeding). Anyway you're looking so beautiful and your little boy is gorgeous too. Keep up with these updates they are so inspiring xx

    Hi Susan, thanks for the update. I haven't tried for any kids yet but I've been doing research into hashimoto's and pregnancy which is when i found your video. The struggle is real! Some days we are feeling like we can conquer the world, and other days we don't want to get out of bed. The fact that we can get up everyday and do routine things kinda make us superwomen! I've been working with a naturopath for my issues who put me on a 80-90% gluten reduction along with some supportive supplements such as vitamin D and magnesium (get your b12 checked as well). I'm currently not on any medication as i had adverse side effects to synthroid. Maybe in the future when i'm pregnant i might see an endocrinologist and see if i can be medication free then as well. Going gluten free alone will have many benefits for you and i would start with that alone if you're not feeling mentally upto it. You might have some GI issues after going gf but those should subside soon and far outweigh the depression, anxiety, fatigue, mood disorders and brain fog. As an experiment i had some gluten and i felt terrible anxiety shortly after, which is why i'm convinced the two are related. Lastly, I am meat-free but some women have had success with an autoimmune paleo diet. You can join a facebook group for support also. Anyway all the best to you, i honestly wish no one would have to deal with this terrible disorder. All we can do is take it day by day and not be too hard on ourselves. The ultimate solution will be mind, body & spirit.

    Oh Susan I can so relate to your journey.....I am much older, 58 and have had psoriasis for over 34 years. I also have Hashimoto's disease as well. I have been on every medication over the years for psoriasis including immune suppressant drugs and nothing has ever really stopped it for too long. I also have seen a nutritionist, a naturopath, acupuncturists and of course my dermatologist and rheumatologist. I have followed ever diet there is and it stills finds some way to creep back in. Good luck on your journey and hope you get some relief.

    i was diagnosed with hashimotos a couple years back. I'm 12 weeks postpartum and my TSH is below .01. and free T4 and T3 are too high. I'm exclusively breastfeeding. never had hyperthyroidism before. I was actually surprised to hear! I feel pretty good, aside from heart palpitations

    Thanks for sharing.I too have Hashimoto's and another autoimmune disorder called APS,which makes the blood clot and it also attacks cells in your body etc.I think only someone who also deals with thyroid and other autoimmune disorders can truly understand how debilitating and draining this is.It literally affects every aspect of your well-being and is a constant struggle.But with the right medication,which has to be adjusted as our body is perpetually changing,it is possible to regain that quality of life and energy.There will always be some low points,yet we have to be grateful to have a diagnosis and proper treatment available.A lot of women were instead diagnosed with severe depression!So again,thanks for sharing,many women will be able to relate xxx

    Thank you for sharing. I’m 35 weeks pregnant and I have Hashimotos. I’m excited to try breastfeeding, but I didn’t know hypothyroidism could affect milk supply. It’s so good to know that going in. I had to have my medication adjusted twice so far this pregnancy. Hearing you talk about your experience makes me want to stay on top of my own tests and symptoms. Again, thank you.

    • @erincorosales
      @erincorosales 4 роки тому

      @@grisssrodriguez7241 Hi! I am not quite sure how it affects labor as I had to have a C-section and was never in active labor. I went in for heart rate monitoring of myself and baby twice a week starting at 37 weeks. At 38 weeks, the third or fourth day of monitoring, the amniotic fluid levels dropped significantly. Baby was breach and transverse and I needed a C-section. Baby is healthy and almost 2 now. These were my unique circumstances. Not everyone with Hashimotos needs a C-section, of course. I would just ask your doctor what to expect because of Hashimotos and if you need to check your thyroid levels.

    What kind of medication did you take during your pregnancy for your antibodies? And did it actually work to lower your antibodies?

  • @1994presto
    @1994presto 4 роки тому

    Susan! I have always loved your videos, esp as a fellow half Korean, but I had no clue you have hashimoto's! I'm waiting to get officially diagnosed, but I also have antibody levels correlated with hashimoto's. It feels good to know that someone as smart, confident and beautiful as you is successfully managing hashimoto's. *virtual hugs* I will be starting the Autoimmune Protocol Diet next month after I get (hopefully) officially diagnosed. I was already taking supplements, so I was able to just adjust the type of supplements I take along with my medication. I'm also trying to exercise everyday but everyday is a new battle. I'm hoping the AIP with alleviate some symptoms 💗

    Just wondering - Did you stay on your thyroid medicine while pregnant and breastfeeding? My endocrinologist up'd my dosage while I was pregnant and then lowered it back down three months post-pardom. I also felt great both times I was pregnant. The best I have ever felt. With my first child I lost my supply just like you. Luckily with this one I still have it. I am gluten free and it worked wonders. Maybe start there first before cutting out all things.

    you are already aware that the food that nurtures you, plays a super important role with this kind of condition. I do understand you when you said about the diet and restrictions, as soon as you hear the word diet you want to run in the opposite direction, the person that is going to help you with that has to be one that works with you little by little, trial and error see what works for you, with nutrition there is no one size fits all. It’s is also not possible / not doable that they hand you a list of things that you are not supposed to eat, it if they “handle” the treatment like that you most likely will fail. But you can start finding resources by yourself and doing changes Little by little so it doesn’t feel daunting. I studied to be a health coach in integrative nutrition and there I was able to encounter with this author Andrea Beaman whom also suffers from Hashimotos but was able to “cure” with the right nutrition for her. She has a couple of books I believe, maybe you can check that out, Happy Healthy Thyroid: The Essential Steps to Healing Naturally is one of them. Good luck!

    Far out a really similar symptoms. I had a lot of thyroid symptoms during 2nd pregnancy, but when they tested me it wasnt to the point that they would give me medicine. But after my daughters birth, every time I breastfed her it would feel like it was completely draining me & I’d fall asleep. I had to bring her downstairs to wake myself up properly with the tv on & to feed her & I needed lollies, water & biscuits next to me every time I fed her. Also she had reflux, so I was feeding her extra & bouncing her through the night. So I was completely shattered by 2 weeks & we started her on formula. Another issue I had was because my chest was so huge with milk, my daughter had stopped breathing the first time I breast fed at the hospital!!! So I had to be careful hold in the right place & watch her mouth. So that’s why I also had to be really awake.
    FYI one funny thing my daughter actually liked was up dancing with her to like techno (edm) music through the night. She’d just fall asleep in your arms about a minute after you started really dancing. It was a lot easier for me because it was a lot less draining than standing there & rocking her for hours. Id just play the radio station through the tv.
