Don't like how you conveniently discount World Championship titles. They may not be as important as Olympic but they still significantly important. They supposed to occur every 2 years and Olympics supposed to occur every 4 years. However there are only two World Track and field Championships that occur and it's both of them so it gives it a lot of significance. It adds to someone's resume if they win that a lot, not as much as Olympics but significantly too.
Thank you for your comment. I do not discount them. But until I became a track and field athlete myself, from the outside of the sport I had no idea it was even a thing. The truth is most sports fans don't care about track unless its the Olympics. So winning anything else is almost like running in JV races as far as they are concerned. To be as great as Bolt you have to do it on the stage the world will be watching. That is actually what Jamaica has done since 2008 on the men's and women's sides.
If we are being completely honest, american women have won since 1996, but were stripped (which I don’t really agree with for anyone of any nation given how common the PED’s are…except those on he/sheman juice from the 80’s). But, in all seriousness, I don’t think ShaCarri has any real competition; she would have to beat herself to get anything other than Gold, and she’s showing veteran wisdom lately. Julien is a force and folks keep talking about her, but we have to be honest that she has never run anything faster than her current 10.78, and ShaCarri has already walked her down. Also, when Alfred beat ShaCarri last year, it was a clear case of DOMS for ShaCarri and Shericka that week…they ran trials, then, another race in another country, then another race in a third country within just a week! Both ShaCarri and Jacko ran slow in different events that day due to the apparent DOMS, but turned right back around and ran 10.65. I’m mad at the poor 200M execution (which looked like Dennis’ fault) in the Trials because she could have won or gotten second given how “slow” Gabby ran had she just used her original execution, and I believe she could’ve gotten bronze in Paris. We shall see what happens, eh?

@@fredball8240 While you are correct that it's largely only the sprints they are good at, their output in said sprints is quite large when you look at what they have accomplished. Another angle: countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia that mainly export natural gas or oil are amongst the richest in the world. @@lesprinteur3144Ever since Jamaica got called out by their head doctor in 2013 about them not being tested out of season it's been just the women who have had some peculiar up and down seasons but even that might be done. The trick with doing PEDs is not whether you can take them or not but how much can you get away with, without failing too obviously. Probably Kishane's issue. He's great in training and while he's still on the island and maybe first race after but once they go from race to race to race there is no way they can be fully laced. When not fully laced injuries occur a lot more often. It amazes me that only in Jamaica do they take high school aged sprinters who couldn't win a local meet in Iowa from 15 to 19 then they make them Olympic gold medalists in less than 3 years.
