The Future of Shred Guitar is in good hands!
What an amazing privilege it was for me to interview the man who could be the greatest shredder of them all today, MAX OSTRO the Great!
When Max shreds at incredible speeds, he is so smooth and clean his fingers glide across the fingerboard like they are flying ice skates - I've never seen anything quite like it.
However, Max is much more than a shredder, he is a New Fusion Phenom!. His phrasing is highly musical and exceptional, fusing together the best traits of Guthrie Govan, Larry Carlton, Allan Holdsworth, Bumblefoot, and Paul Gilbert.
HELP MAX OSTRO GET TO NAMM 2026
Like his slightly older equally incredible virtuoso contemporary who Max is often linked to Matteo Mancuso, Max Ostro deserves to be at every NAMM show, demonstrating his prodigious guitar talent, and selling his brand, alongside the best guitarists and merchandisers in the world.
Unfortunately, since Max lives in Siberia, Russia, so far he has been unsuccessful in being able to obtain a Travel Visa to the U.S. to attend the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the largest music trade show in the world.
Hopefully interviews like this one, with your active HELP by VIEWING this INTERVIEW and WRITING COMMENTS under this video interview below will help to build a narrative to strongly influence passage to bring Max Ostro to NAMM where his incredible talent deserves to be and remain.

Max is only 20, and he is destined to become a guitar legend. Many say he is already there with the greats.

Great interview!!

Thank You so much Ron! Honored to have you here. We'd love to interview you too!
Bumblefoot! Hope you are doing well
Legend
@@MaxOstro Indeed!
he looks like a young Guthrie with his mustache, beard, and hair. He has many great things ahead of him. I felt inspired to learn scarified knowing it took him a year practicing it. Definitely one of the best in today's guitar scene!
Happy to hear our Max interview inspired you. Definitely go for it, and good luck!
Max is a great player, been watching him for a while now. The way he approaches a piece of music is different than most. Thanks for the interview.
Thanks for the awesome comment, Max is amazing. Let's Get Max to NAMM 2026!!
@@hon8177 Not at all. He does sweeps, hybrid picking, alt picking, he does it all!
Promenade is unreal. I still listen to it all the time. It is a phenomenal piece of music and amazing guitar playing.
Without a doubt, one of the best fusion compositions I have heard :)
Been waiting for an english interview with this cat for years!! Cheers to you
Thanks so much for saying it, indeed we were the first! Keep watching!
Max is such an incredible talented artists. Very rare are the players who can mix emotions and speed and Max mastered it already. Amazing!
You got that totally right:)
Go Max! 🙏🏻🙌🏻❤️

Max is super amazing. Really hopes he gets his due credit one day.
Thank You. He deserves all of the credit soon big-time ....and I believe it is coming soon!

Thank You so much. Glad you enjoyed it!
The fact Max 'can't go to Namm' is a violation of the international chart of the UN ! He's such a great player ! It takes a moment to get his humour but he's a monster guitarist !
Let's all support Max and get him to NAMM 2026. Amen.
such an accurate description in the intro. truly an amazing all round improviser, amazing technique
Thank You for those kind words:)
Ahh this was much needed! 🤘🏻
Thank You so much! I feel privileged to be the first one to interview Max in English!
He also learnt Allan Holdsworth's regional English accent! What a genius!
Wow, you're right, I hear it too!
Make no doubt, that kind of playing takes hard work and commitment. He is awesome!
Innate talent + hard work + commitment = the Perfect Storm = Max Ostro!
This is awesome ! Max plays with a lot of feel and his economy picking is beyond awesome, still waiting for max to make his album
Thanks, let's get Max to NAMM 2026!

This is all a precursor to the real mastery, namely Anton Oparin). Without exaggeration a virtuoso of the planet, a prodigy who conquered the USA at the age of 8. Harry Kramer commissioned to make guitars for him, and Gibson has partnered with Anton. His collection includes personalized Angus Young pickups, which were gifted to Anton in recognition of his unique guitar playing technique. Anton is the Orpheus of music and his hands are as if blessed by Hermes himself.
Ostro participated in the competition of the best guitarists held by Anton Oparin.
It would be great to watch this interview.
Come on la' whaaat
@@MaxOstro Good luck at NAMM Max! I will be glad to see and hear you there.
Thanks for sharing, I look forward to researching and hearing Anton!
Антон, это ты?😂😂😂
@@hon8177 Got it!
❤ Maxi is underrated. Other than that, he should upload more content on his own page. I miss his interpretations. There is so much music, so many styles to interpret, so many sounds to create .....
Max is a super talent, and we are privileged to have interviewed him.
Ostro is super. I find it actually ignorant to compare other young virtuosos like Mancuso to him. Both Ostro’s chops, feel and musicality is far beyond others, including most superstars who have sold millions of albums and toured the world many times.
Thanks for your comment. Max is a super talent without a doubt, but there are a few others as well. Superstars worth millions have never necessarily been historically the best of the best musicians.
I agree Max’s melodic jam is superior to Mancuso. However, Max is not yet a great writer of timeless music. Mancuso at least has an album though to my ear it’s nothing memorable. Let’s see how Max does. His style seems heavily influenced by Greg Howe and Greg has written numerous amazing tracks. Hope Max eventually does, too.
@@a.s.2426 Mancuso’s album is full of mediocre songs, just like his jam tracks. Ostro’s jam tracks are actually music, just like Govan’s back in the day. I just hope Ostro gets out from Russia and to play live. But he has used all this time stuck there well: honing his touch. Really looking for to his solo album.
@@BabassecretchannelОдин лишь Променад уже впечатал его в гитарную историю навсегда - эту вещь невозможно перестать переслушивать ))
@@Babassecretchannel Well said. I agree with you. Mancuso's music is, for me, completely forgettable (although very few others seem to agree with us on that). Ostro shows a lot more potential. Interestingly, Guthrie himself hasn't been very prolific. I hope Ostro starts putting out albums and ends up doing a lot of them. I think he can do some amazing things.
Hope you get to NAMM Max!
Let's get Max to NAMM 2026!

Truly. Let's get Max to NAMM 2026.
Still hoping to see you collab with Mancuso someday

Hey, it would be great to see a video on the Late Great Shawn Lane? there are lots of FB contacts that knew Shawn who I'm sure would be pleased to be interviewed.

Scary good player and a super cool guy!
Absolutely!
Ibanez must have a resource to get you a VISA for NAMM, they deal with ARTISTS worldwide.
In fact that was one of the questions in the interview 1:11:41
In the video where Max was trying to get his Visa, someone mentioned in the comments that perhaps Ibanez could help in some way? Maybe they have helped other artists that they endorse with travel?
Max and I are currently working on this. As for Ibanez helping, as I answered the other commenter here, in fact that was one of my questions brought up in the interview. Here's the answer 1:11:41
@@radjet That's great, good luck!😊👍 Thank you for helping Max! Haha, I jumped the gun and commented before that point in the interview where you mentioned Ibanez. Thanks again!
@ Cheers, mate!
Max in Namm 26 ,I so hope it happens.
Fingers crossed. Doing our best!
Great!
It is @beyondinfinity3876 !
He definitely did well on Scarified at 13. Keep in mind that numerous of the Shrapnel Records players from the 90’s were doing the same or better. Let’s see how he develops.
There have been amazing players in every decade
So that JTC stuff isn't improvised? Shit, what a relief.
Indeed, I get it
Max studying Shawn Lane, that’s scary stuff
He's absorbing therir knowledge one by one, imagine the final version of max.
Thanks for watching that far, hope you watched further. So much to learn from Max!

@@radjetI finished it last night. I'd like to thank you for interviewing Max, I didn't know your channel but I'm subscribing for sure. On the other hand it broke my heart knowing Max can't monetize his YT videos it's so unfair that politicians and their geopolitical games impacts the professional career of a such a talented artist. I feel we, the whole community should support him more. My advice for him is to focus conquering Europe, Asia and the whole world first, then door for US will open later. I have no idea what discord is but it seems is the only way we can support his work right now so, I have homework. This young man it's a treasure we must to support him.
@@Ric_1985 Thank You so. much for your suport @Ric_1985. We need to support Max and get hi to NAMM 2026. Glad you are finding the channel useful, and that broke my heart too.
What does he say at 15 44 about Shawn Lane? After he says ...yes they did..
Max said he was studying Shawn Lane's stuff
Not saying I agree or not but what has happened with Roy Marchbank I believe is less so about folks thinking what he is doing is fake than it is with many feeling what he does doesn't qualify as “music”.
Didn't understand "....don’t think his suing is “music”.??
@@radjet Sorry, was typing from my cell phone. I have corrected the comment above.
It might be a bit of both
Wish Max got a chance to fully elaborate here.
What do you mean? He answered questions in quite amount of detail.
I wonder if Dovydas had a hard time getting into the USA from Russia or if he has any insight on that
Great question

Ibanez isn't helping MAX TO GET TO AMERICA????????????????????

@@radjet I will listen to this for sure. Thanks for the upload.
@@Cheximus Cheers!
You're more interested in asking your questions than in his answers to the questions.
Some constructive feedback for future interviews, listen to the answers and ask follow ups, like you would in normal conversation.
Let them speak more! You cut off several times when he was clearly going to open up and talk about something, with "so what you're saying is..." which shuts down potential responses, and contextualizes what was said around you, and your interpretation, rather than focusing on your guests answers, but also by saying "lets get back to" as if the answer from your guest wasn't interesting enough for you, so you drag it back to your itinerary.
I love max
Thanks for interviewing max
But please work on your interviewing acumen.
Thanks for your feedback. Everyone has a different style and you're entitled to your opinion. I thought I let Max speak without hinderance or interruption.
The question (or rather answer to the question), “who are the greatest guitar players of all time?” isn’t subjective. The problem is that it’s unanswerable me because the question is literally meaningless.
The question was designed more to be a fun take or half serious at best. Also the question was who are the "4 current best players" not of all-time. Of course there are too many great players to name all-time, but if I was hard pressed to pick just one for me it'd be Allan Holdsworth.
@@radjet Yes, for sure. Thank you!
Yea a band helps your stress too
Very true, Max needs a band!
I was a Max fan before it was cool
So many questions you ask aren't about your guest!!! You ask questions about other guitarists, as if Max is only important in that he's met Guthrie, or is influenced by other guitarists. Ask questions about mask, and when he mentions Guthrie Govan, then ask "oh how did you meet?" But instead you keep asking Max about his thoughts about legacies and lives of other guitarists, rather than his thoughts and life. "Max, do you think this guitarist is the fastest?" How about asking Max what he does to work on his speed, or what he thinks about fast playing, or what fast music he looks up to and how he works that into his own playing... Please contextualize your questions and responses around your guest, and not about people WHO AREN'T EVEN IN YOUR INTERVIEW...
Thanks for your feedback, you are entitled to your opinion.
It was an honor to interview Max, one of the greatest guitarists today.💯💯💯💯💯💯

Sorry, Marchbank is superfast for sure, but what he plays is mostly uniteresting chromatic or scaler stuff slidding up and down the neck. His sound also i don’t like at all.
And on lot’s of his vids he is miming to pre recorded and editted tracks.
When you here him on live recordings it is far from the perfect editted vids.
But, i realy do like his slower stuff, especially some of his acoustic melodic playing.
Fair point. His mechanical "midi" sound may also be turning off a lot of listeners.
What about Serbia? A gig in Belgrade maybe?
Max will soon be everywhere! If he wishes to play in Belgrade, he will be there:)
Stephem Ross did this back in the 90's... Its sounds so cold and damp, nothing with sizzle or color. NOT that great. Just not No color.
He knows why he can’t get visa. Just scared to talk about it publicly. He’s country get isolated over government aggression. With Russian passport you don’t have any chances…
Why did Max play guitar with one hand (legato) like a handicap? You have two hands, right? Max, please stop doing that cheap sh!t. Don't get me wrong; you are one of the best guitarists in the world despite your young age. I like Max playing much more than Mato Manoso's.
Listen again to the full interview. Max is currently mastering sweep picking in a Frank Gambale-style as well as many two-handed techniques, not only legatos. He also has used hybrid picking for a long time.
Joyless playing,so many notes,so little 'music'
don't give up Max- the world can suck but maybe hook up with some singer or band to tour with then defect
Let's Bring Max to NAMM 2026!
