It has a 12mm to the left side of the “clock” not a 21mm. I believe that 2021 years models have a USB outlet to the right side of the “clock”🤔 Do your bike come with a 21mm outlet?
Thanks 🙏 I’m very pleased with how it looks 🤩 It’s not a lot of space between the outlet and the bark busters for the plugs and chargers, but it’s the same and slightly more than between the original outlet that’s located a little higher up och the left side of the clock. And since that one is 12mm I need an adapter to be able to use it. To really make it practical for charging power banks and battery I need to have a tank bag or install another outlet in my top box 😊
I have a BMW f900….. unfortunately, it has one of BMW’s sockets located just behind my left leg :-(. Charging my phone/camera/sat nav is awkward, involving wires draped all over the bike. A USB socket or a 12v socket would make life easier. I think I’ll give it a try. Happy New Year to you 😎
Happy new year to you to 🥳. It’s definitely worth give it a try. My policy when do things like that is to do as little impact, or what to call it?as possible to the bike itself and the original cables and sockets. Over time vibrations, moisture and corrosion all ways seems to be a problem to electrical components. With the double adhesive tape I can easily remove the socket and “restore” the bike to original. It’s also possible to add a connector to the backside of the 12mm outlet and take “switched” power from that. But then both outlets share the same fuse and I’m not sure if that fuse can handle a small 12v compressor. Since this one is wired directly to the battery with pretty thick cable, it shouldn’t be a problem to have a 10A or 15A fuse and use the outlet for a compressor with very little risk to damage any of the original electrical system. But of course having it wired directly to the battery also comes with drawbacks. There’s always a risk to forget to disconnect electrical users and drain the battery. 🤔
The 12v outlet you put in, looks like it has always been there, and belongs in that location . On my 1200GS the smaller 12v outlet is in that area also .I use it to plug in my Optimate battery charger , but also have a lead I can plug in that has 2 usb outlets on the other end .
thanks 🙏 Yes I’m pleased with the placement of the outlet. I haven’t tested it yet so I don’t know how it works when putting for example a USB charger in it. Does the charger and cable interfere with the handlebar etc 🤔. But hopefully it will be distance enough to the handlebar. I have measured the distance and it’s about eight centimetres from the outlet to the bark busters, and that’s slightly more than the distance from the original 12 mm outlet on the left side. So even if it’s not much it’s probably how good it can be. 🤔
Enjoyed the video Joones. The 12v adapter will be handy. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Thanks 🙏
Have a really good year and ride safe you to 🤩
I didn't realize yours didn't already come with one. Both mine and Kyle's have that. The installation looks very good and seamless! 👍 Great job

@@JoonesAdventuresMC you are right the stock one is the smaller one. I keep thinking it's the default size plug as the cars.
I can’t understand why BMW keeps using those small ones. What type off gear can you find on the market that uses that standard? 🤔
Nice bit of handiwork there. Well done! 👍😊
