After having lived in New Mexico and traveled in that area where she lived....I completely understood her love of and desire to never leave that place. The land is truly magical. I shall return one day again...so mote it be.
Fuck off. Stop moving her cause this racist old bitch painted some meaningless pictures. She and her movement destroyed our culture. Read the benta eliser bio on her. We are sick of you old turquoise lovers moving her and destroying our culture
Amazing! I dreamed of becoming a famous writer in nyc. But when that didn’t happen, it resonated that Georgia moved from Ny to New Mexico, the beautiful landscape will keep me here!
@@DianeLStyma greet more old white people moving here cause they think its magic and displacing us why do all your stupid old white fake hippies have to come to my home?
"Sun-bleached bones were most wonderful against the blue - that blue that will always be there as it is now after all man's destruction is finished." - Georgia O'Keeffe I love this quote of hers.
I love Georgia's straightforwardness and her amusement about people reading so much into her work. Her works and intentions are so simple, powerful and present that some people can't often just let them "be". As an artist who also enjoys forms and colors simply because they please me, I can relate. Thank you for posting this short clip. :)
She is a fascinating person who truly embraced what she wanted to do, to paint ... as she says, the things which she collects with the idea of painting them, pleases her.
@redondobeach22 Its priceless. What an amazing person. I love looking at photos of her when she was young. You can see the intelligence burning behind her eyes. Thank you Redondo beach 22!
@RSheftall -this is a clip from the documentary "Georgia O'Keeffe" , it was released (I think,)in1976 on VHS and has never been available as a dvd. I have the tape and will try to do another clip in the future. I'ts a great film and probably available used.
I didn't know she stayed in Lake George. I love her. Such a peaceful soul. There is a rumor that my son is a decendant of her family. My son's name is Keefe. His grandfather's name was george keefe Jackson. He came from the O'Keeffe's.
Regal, straightforward, kind and loving, cat-like. Forgiving and understanding of the enthusiastic puppy-like people she has to deal with more than she wants to. Her world view is obviously unique, somewhat, but realistic. She knows she has to operate in a 3D world with the rest of us. Many old people who are as far outside of the pattern as she is are cranky and bitter
I believe that this 1977 documentary was made by Perry Miller Adato who has made a number of works about women artists. The video is available for purchase on Amazon and I think it is very disrespectful to the filmmaker to present bits of her film like this, without even naming her as the filmmaker. Why not refer readers to the video, instead?

I have wondered the same thing for a long time. It is written by John Morris, a fairly famous composer, but there seems to be no releases of the music.
As a person and artist, she was as cool as it gets.

omg you are very pretty
Do you know who owns the footage from 1977? I'm trying to track down the owner of the copyright to get permission.
the copyright situation is very complex -made for wnet for pbs in1976 by Perry Miller Adato. perrymilleradato.com/
did you ever succeed in finding the owner? I'd like to sample the music and am not sure who to contact.

U are on a Book I read it
