Every time I see one of these I wonder why Suzuki never made a liquid-cooled, power-valved RM500, it would have been every bit as good as the CR and KX500s I'm sure. Another great vid Max, thanks for posting!!
I had 2 of these and 87 and 89. Once again, your selection amazes me. I never know what you'll have to pull out of your hat. Thanks for the great videos.
I recently put a billet clutch in my buddies 1989 quad Zilla. It has gobbs of torque, is quite comfortable and nice to ride. Definitely a thumbs up machine for me. A toad legal Lt500 is super rare !
Hit the dirt Brother! Much love from Canada. I raced one of the beasts flat track as a teenager in the 90s. A 15 tooth front sprocket will get you to 90 MPH before you run out of RPMs
Had a 87 these are the holy Grail of 2 stroke quads. Had the motor sent to California and gone thru bored.090, and the ports worked and polished. Cops got me on radar at 97mph before I disappeared had to hear about it at the local coffee shop by the coolest old cop in town I had all I could do not to spit my coffee all over the place when he hinted it might been me!
lol someone lied to you if they told you a Quadzilla can do 90+mph. It's literally not possible. Especially with the gearing of that quad. Unless you built a whole custom motor and changed the gearing.
@kenshinhimura9387 What part of it was bored .090 and ports was reworked and polished didn't you read? Or are you so dense the information in front of you didn't make it from your eyes to that pea brain of yours
I had a completely stock one I purchased as a salesman an Nicholson's in Ann Arbor, MI... I paid for it on my Amex. Pure Heaven! Traded it for a Bedroom set just before I moved to Commiefornia. Once in Commiefornia I found a nice used Trinity Stage 4 and had it shipped to me. Didn't have the low end the stock had and I eventually traded it. Considering taking the plunge again as I've never had anything as much fun as these beasts! In-between I got a 1986 Honda TRX 250R... one of the BEST HANDLING quads ever and I loved it, but the tranny grenaded and I sold it off. Now I have a Raptor 660 and 700... they're decent handling machines, but I miss the handling of the TRX most, and I did NOT buy the Quadzilla for Handling... I bought it for raw power!
Banshee is slow compared to the Raptor and YFX450. Why would he want to buy a slower older quad that is 2 stroke and has issues? Yes I know exactly how fast the Banshee is. My buddy bought the last one in 2006 and I have hundreds of hours on it and the YFX450 and Raptors. Banshee can't compete.
I have had a Banshee and a Quadzilla. The Zilla was just something magical. Love the low end torque that thing had. That thing would wear a hole through your boot starting it though lol. Using a Yamaha Raptor now. Can't beat the reliability factor and ease of use.
Best MX review channel out there. Great range of machinery and challenges. Humble, attentive presenter. Great setting and footage. Keep it up 999Lazer👍🏾
Bit of a shame he never hit the power band. He said it was a bit light in the front end so I would imagine it would lift the front when giving it a good handful. That's what we want to see! I can't believe that is road legal. We're pretty casual about many things here in NZ, but there is no way this would get registered on the road in NZ. Great content again Max. You certainly dig out some cool stuff. Keep it up.
Performance Bikes magazine back in the 90's featured a quad with an inline four cylinder 500cc Krauser two stroke engine, which I think was from a GP sidecar. Don't think it was road legal though.
@@999lazer back in the mid 90’s my neighbor had one he is about 10 years older than me but we were buddies i will always remember him firing it up and i would run to the door to see a flash of him flying past my house and thinking whoa that was so cool lol! 😆 he said he could remember a guy that lived up the road from us that had a brand new one in the late 80’s
Absolute WEAPON 😍 I'd love a go on one of those! Closest I've been is a couple of blasts on a Yamaha TriZ through the forest on the shore of Bassenthwaite Lake. That was an animal 😁You have to get one on and try the three wheeled monster
The fact you can make any quad street legal is the most amazing thing ever and wish you could do it here in Canada. There's some wicked Yamaha Raptor 700s over there built for the road! I have an old magazine page from DirtWheels about two Raptor 700s from there and one has a Yamaha R1 1000 street bike engine swapped into it! Absolutely the cleanest most mental quad I've ever seen💯💀💀💀 That'd be unreal to see in person
It's much quicker and easier to list the things that are stock on the bike 5:12 is the frame stock? Because other than that I see that maybe the push bar the headlight the seat maybe maybe the cables the grips 5:22
My brother had an 89 one a fair few years ago. It was an animal. It would keep with my CR500 from a start. Bought it from a bike shop by Darwen and he sold it to his mate from by Chester. Hopefully it's still around.
I Romberg when they came out ! I was working at Wiser Cycle in Ogden Utah ! The very first one we got was torn down and top end😂 rebuilt, head milled and head dome reshaped , pipe, and porting on cylinder!!!!!! That smoked the stock LT 500!!!!!
Do you know anything about the biggest 2 stroke ever produced? 1981 Maico Mega 760. Would be very nice if you could find one and make a video about it. There is almost no information about it. 👍
Ian Ffitch, in NZ, has a GSXR 1000 motor in his LTR, "Rocket" Ron Kirkman stuck a Blackbird motor into his Honda quad (he may have turboed it) and someone has a WRX quad and another bloke put a helicopter turbine into one. Nuckin futters. I really like that quads are road legal in the UK and love this build, standard, but better.. Smells nicer, too, I bet.
I built one of those engines, all new with a wiseco and put a compression release in head. It would run even with my cr500 in favorable conditions for the quad.
My favorite Suzuki! As a guy that grew up in rural Canada, Quads were everywhere! The Yamaha BanZilla😉,the Suzuki QuadZilla, and the Yamaha RapperZilla 660 tho 4stroke We're always beefing! The Yamaha BanZilla😉always won! Love the QuadZilla tho!
My father-in-law( who has rode basically everything since he was a kid) had one and it was a beast. He was sure to not just let any one "who knows how to ride" take it for a ride. Even when he sold it he was sure the rider knew exactly what it was. Engineers must've had bigger balls in the 70s-80s.
imagine that power in a trx 250r..thats what I'm going for..obviously more than a stock zilla does. They started making billet cases for them to. Im gonna figure out howto street legal my 250r.. I know it can be done some how.
I am surprised to hear that they are hard to find parts for in Europe considering CMSNL is in Netherland's and have a lot of parts for vintage bikes. Was the LT500R ever available in Europe when released?
I'm 14 and I love speed and anything with a motor and have a Polaris predator that goes 98 so I would love to haul a on it and I would ride it daily PLS read

Cheers Greggory, glad your enjoying them:)
we have a 87 Kawasaki takati 250 bored over to a 280 2 stroke and it makes this look slow
Passion is contagious. I hope someone sees this, gets inspired and follows their own dream. Cheers!
totally agree, thanks for watching
I highly modified one. Two motors, one built by CT racing. Man it had power, reliable and fast.
Best quad I owned so far.
I recently put a billet clutch in my buddies 1989 quad Zilla. It has gobbs of torque, is quite comfortable and nice to ride. Definitely a thumbs up machine for me. A toad legal Lt500 is super rare !

I’m half way through restoration of an 87 500 Zilla & would love to see a vlog of one on the dirt. It’s what they was made for.
Build that bad boy and make one I'll watch it
They are slow and outdated. You are going to get absolutely smoked by every Yamaha sport quad on the trail. Especially the raptors and YFZ450's
You have to get a banshee on the channel now max. 😉
thatll destroy the narrative of the monkey quad bein the "baddest"
Banshee is slow compared to the Raptor and YFX450. Why would he want to buy a slower older quad that is 2 stroke and has issues? Yes I know exactly how fast the Banshee is. My buddy bought the last one in 2006 and I have hundreds of hours on it and the YFX450 and Raptors. Banshee can't compete.
That's why I love you're videos Max, always bringing different unique bikes and quad's, always quality from the MX master, Cheer's Max.
I appreciate that! Thanks Kevin :)
So glad you’ve started featuring ATVs on this channel, hard to find good ATV content, keep it up 👌

That motor sounds soo good !!!!!
I have a 1987. Set up similar to this one. Love it.
everyone is always , had 250rs, banshees , love my zilla.. never rode one until i bought one . great machine
always hating*
Im in the statez and absolutely I can say thats the baddest ass Quadzilla I've ever seen in my life!! Congratulationz!!
Thanks really appreciated
Amazed that you would consider building it for the road! A very nice build, well done.
What an awesome machine he has!! The LT 250 Quadracer was a lot of fun to ride . Would love to try the 5 Hundo someday 👍🏼
I had the DrQx 2.0 Pipe combo on my Zilla!

Great content again Max. You certainly dig out some cool stuff. Keep it up.
Thanks, To be fair I think you have to be a little crazy to want to ride one on the road, but we loved it :)
Performance Bikes magazine back in the 90's featured a quad with an inline four cylinder 500cc Krauser two stroke engine, which I think was from a GP sidecar. Don't think it was road legal though.
Think I've still got that article somewhere.
It was a Philips ATV, built in Bristol
@@ianevans9438 I might still have a copy too. There were some scans online a while back but they seem to be dead now.
I've dailied worse than that. That LT is beautiful. Hats off to the owner.
I raced a built 500 quadzilla! I was 14 racing up comp hill in Pismo California. I could hardly kick it over
I had a rip on one of these when i worked in a motorcycle dealers in 1998,.. great video guys 🤟🏍💨🏁
I've never been able to get an answer to this question - why hasn't anyone ever put one of these motors into a motocross bike?
we made this video which is pretty close ...ua-cam.com/video/v6rGpiTzYGQ/v-deo.html
The lt500 is the bottom of the barrel as far as 500 smokers go.
Travis Pastrana has
Turns out its got a cr500 engine in it
Yep, cr,kx,husky 500s make a lot more power
My favorite quad of all time! Thank you for doing this video
Glad you enjoyed it!

That’s beautiful. Belongs in a museum. 👍🏻
Nope it belongs on the road to be used....... Although it is museum quality👌🏼
Looking good Johnathan! Wish we could do that here in the states. Will be out riding with the Quadzilla God in about 8 days!
I dream to ride them dunes bud maybe one day
Love you and all of your videos, keep making them I enjoy it every time❤❤
Thank you Andreas! Will do!
Yeah man keep doing old school 2-stroke quads
What a weapon!! Great content as always! 👌
cheers:)
Tang-tang-tang. That thing is nuts! 👍😎
it sounded lovely, thanks for watching Glen :)
The Quad Zilla looks and sounds awesome 👍.
One of these engines in an RM(Z) chassis would create an RM 500. That would be sick!

Now that sounds fun I'd love to watch pikes peak racing
@@LT500RGOD It was fun but I did it on a regular day, so I had to be a good boy and go slow. Still well worth it.
Cleanest zilla ive ever seen
This is literally the best sounding ltz ive ever heard. The only one ive ever heard that doesnt sound ridiculously lean on the bottom lol
a mate had one of these quads . he'd have his bike washed and putaway by the time i rolled up after our ride .its fast .

Really appreciated thankyou
Epic!! More quads!
Hell yes you should get a quadzilla on dirt, and quads in general
Great video but quit short shifting it let it open up
I've got myself a wtec Quad with a fully restored 1991 ktm dxc engine (code checked on the net) with massive front end happiness and loads of power
sounds awesome :)
Got me some Elka stage 3 race shocks on my yfz 450 and i love em
Very nice ATV! Why don't you do a dirt shootout with a Banshee and a Cannondale quad? Special 2T versus Special 4T ATVs.
Keep it the good work lazer
Thanks, will do!
Yep hit it I will never forget that bike😮
I had one for 5 years it did 92 . It’s a true banshee killer .

It would be really cool to see you dip your toes into some quad content
Wow i want one …..
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The quadzilla is most at home in the dirt of course I want to see it I have ridden one before and they are so much fun
I’m not a quad guy but that’s really cool
its definitely a head turner on the road. We had loads of people stop to ask about it when we were filming:)
Big question.....total rebuild cost.
does it no break the road noise limit like most 2 stroke
Awesome machine 😊
cheers, Jonathan did an awesome job with this build :)
It doesn't ever really come on song? Is it not very tuned?
You guys should get a zilla and a banshee and have a shootout. Love that big bore content.
that's the plan :) thanks for watching.
Yessss!! Looking forward to it! 😁
Banshee wins easy
Yeah but would still be a good video. Lol
I've had dozens of bikes & quads but never bought a quadzilla because most of them for sale always had blown bottom ends..
Absolutely I wanna see you hit the dirt on a quadzilla
How about a street legal Yamaha IT 490. would be a cool Episode.
Put one of these in a TRX-250 Chassis to ride in the deserts of Southern California.....What a DUNE machine. Wayne
Is it still running in?
Sounded like short shifting?
Dude needs a 4 stroke 😂
How narrow are the roads?

Beautiful
Street legal 4 wheeler....f**k yeah
There weren't many here in the US either good on ya 😂 we can have trikes here but no quads on the road 😂
