This like a Medieval Fantasy Ghibli reimagining of "Blame!", which is amusing given the darkness of "Blame!"
Definitely gives me some Ghibli vibes. Also really reminds me of Piranesi by Susanna Clarke, about a (mostly) lone person in an entire world that's a ruined House.
Yes! That was my first thought too, great novel. Really good RPG product too, picked it up while browsing Ennie nominations and have thoroughly enjoyed reading through
I love the "opening of the door" analogy, this type of rpg is amazing to me. Telling a story that isn't predictive or restricted is just too fun.
Oh man. Of course you upload this right when I start getting into solo RPGs 😂
Try it out! I backed it and love it!
I just got my physical coppy of this game three days ago and I am loving it. Sadlly I am not in much of a possision to pay for the patreon to get more content vut that is an oh well. I agree that seeing a larger book with more room types would be amazing as well, the setting is just far to fun to not explore more.
The vibe reminds of the art and setting of Made In Abyss.
I absolutely adore the setting of this game and had to pick up a copy of the book when I first heard about it back in April. I really love the idea of battling the larger rooks like fighting the Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) or the tutorial boss in NieR: Automata (Switch, XBOne, PS4, PC). There's also a co-op mode for it if playing it with a friend sounds fun. :)
I hadn't known about the Patreon expansions. Thank you for covering this!
Extending Pole lookin’ kinda sus
Seems worthy of the awards and nominations to me! Great review, and thanks for the advice in the thumbnail, I'll make sure to get my castle on starting today!
Gibli certainly comes to mind, but I first though of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus ngl
The illustration on “The Cities of Colostle” chapter (around 8:29) must be an homage to FFXII’s Muthru Bazaar in Rabanastre. Good taste. And yeah this gives me Piranesi plus Gormenghast vibes rather than Ghibli
I love this I could run solo numenera adventures with this
Love that you're reviewing this! Nich Angell the creator has put so much time and effort into this and his passion shows. Its a beautiful setting and super accessible.
Cheers for great review. I bought the pdf today and printed it out. Looking forward to starting my first ever solo rpg with Colostle tomorrow. Well my first day every rpg ever if I'm honest.
But but have a few other solo flight rpgs you've review on order but there taking long than I would like to arrive. As there hard to find in UK
It reminds me of a chapter from Tad Williams book series Otherland.
Backed it for a dollar, I’m more of a rules dude not sure if I can get this book to work.
Reminds me of Ico, idk why.
Spoilers is where I get out, but great video. It really helps!
This looks like it has a whole bunch of character. 👍

There's also an expansion book called the Roomlands coming out soon. I'm not sure of the date it'll be released but the kickstarter was earlier this year.
The book setting also reminds me of the anime "Tower of God". I will definitely check this book out.
The name sounds like something you need to see a gastroenterologist about.
Any way to play co-op with 1 other person? How you can with starforged..

The way fat people are depicted in Colostle is hilarious.
It seems to me the idea of combat is very much ingrained in the system. Anyone has experience with the game and can share their experience?
Someone should make this into an JRPG, I would be all over it. Just from this video I'm in love with the world of Colostle
This RPG badly needed an editor, so I don’t get how it could be nominated for an Ennie for its writing.
Do you have any examples of where an editor would have been useful?
I guess many typos but dude was too lazy to expand upon his claim.
