Seen these fatal flaws in almost every muscle car ever made. No different from the imports. Been a drag racing, and road racing enthusiast for thirty five years. Wrenched on many Chevys, Dodges and Hondas. All have some major flaws one way or another. Our job is to maintain, research and figure out these fatal flaws before a major crisis happens! Always Remember, choose the right upgrade application on your vehicle. If you don't, it can be fatal!
Alejandro Bello so we don't confuse are muscle car friends. Again, its called research. Always finding, and correcting the flaws that other people make.
5,000 for a new engine? What BS is this? The new type r crate engine is barely that. This isn't anything that's fatal flaw just a load of BS. Tires wearing out? Having a worn gear knob? If you don't know where the gear is,don't drive. This has to be for comedy purposes.
Bing Fuellas cause your percentages of fast cars are really low, even when compared to modern family vans your still slow. we dont hate on you, your just slow and lie alot about speed. we like truth
Ben Revel you think Hondas were made to be fast in a straight line? Lol, Japan isn't as big as the other countries and there's a lot of mountains with curvy roads. They're made to be a low powered lightweight that can feather through those corners. Your definition of "fast" is different from ours.
Worn shift knob is a fetal flaw??? Obviously never actually driven a manual transmission vehicle, 1 your hand covers that up so you can't see it anyways. 2 if you need the pattern to know where to shift you should just buy an automatic. 3 you shouldn't be taking your eyes off the damn road to shift in the first place! Loose trim and bad sun visors are a fetal flaw? Honestly grasping at straws. Terrible tires + Americans who don't know how to check their tires, not Honda's fault. People blowing up their engines because they're trying to quadruple the power output of an engine that if maintained will last forever, not Honda's fault. The only real flaw is the terrible automatic transmission that literally everyone already knows about. But I guess if you can't see the shift pattern on the shift knob and don't know where the gears are you're equally out of luck... Well the maker of this video does drive an automatic Dodge so I guess that explains all of this crap video.
Cian Jackson If you're the kind of driver that needs to look down at the gearknob to see which gear you're in you probably should have bought the auto.
Zerofightervi that's exactly my point. Ill b driving manuals for as long as they make them. Auto may be quicker now, but manual is more satisfying to use
If you own a VTEC honda car or motorcycle you quickly learn the RPM reading that the VTEC kicks in. In no way fatal. It is actually like a poor mans turbo.
Justin Aguirre also all valves are used even when VTEC is deactivated, VTEC has three rocker arms, 2 low profile lobes, an one high speed lobe on the intake valves, sometimes exhaust valves in a 4 valve engine, when VTEC kicks in, the high speed rocker arm locks with the low speed arms, the high speed lobe is much larger an more aggressive, allowing the valves to open longer, allowing more air/fuel to be sucked/forced in. I’m not going to say you’re wrong because I don’t know how much your ego needs to be fed.
This is one of the stupidest videos on youtube.... the gear knob wearing out from use... so therefore cannot see where the gears are... which can lead to accidents. You called a worn out gear knob a FATAL FLAW
What a load of bollocks!... the fatal flaws are the owners modding the cars over spec and components will fail on any Dodge or chevy in the same way. This video is just negative propoganda against Honda!!
What about the last generation charger and their tie rods that are recommended to be replaced every 40,000 miles. The Magnum, the 300, and Charger were on the same platform. When I heard that I was discussed with American cars. That shit is ridiculous!
Just Me dude that is not the only problems they have. They have a history of paint problems and transmission problems. Nothing like buying American. If you ask me over the years American cars have gotten a bit better, but compared to an import or a foreign car not so much. I've owned from Honda to Chevy. I will tell you import are way more reliable.
The cracked exhaust manifold doesnt cause sputtering because of back pressure.....its because the exhaust flow is going out of manifold before the o2 sensor. Back pressure is irrelevant.
Oh no I can't see the gears on the shift knob now how will I know where first and second gear is? If you need to look at your shift knob to find gears you probably shouldn't be driving a standard
I expected this to be about the new model Civic, which lost the coveted "recommended" status in Consumer Reports. I had a 2012 model, which had few flaws - none fatal.
That’s amazing that your 2012 one has no issues. I would think it would have the most issues considering it’s one of the worst 9th gen models ever built.
Jeremy Feeley paid $80 for mine, $14 for fluid, and replaced it myself since it’s only a 17mm, 12mm, & 14mm socket which is quite common in normal tool sets. all you need a some patience & some research & its fairly easy to replace
Strange, I have been exporting used Japanese cars for 30 years and never come across such problems in Japan. The only recent problems I have come across is with the Toyota D4 engine. Although I like Mazdas, they have given me the most trouble, older models with failing transmissions. Wouldn't see any of these models in Japan now as they would all have been scrapped.
Not sure how much creedence to give this video when they call a worn gear shift knob a fatal flaw. Who would not know where the gears are in the car unless you lent it out to someone unfamiliar with the car?
Had my 2001 EM2 for 8 years now. Only had to replace a rear brake calliper in all that time, otherwise it has just been service items. Phenomenal reliability after 60,000 miles of motoring.
95% of those Issues are related to Modding or beating of the car........ Under normal usage these problems are not showing up. It is when idiots put to much HP into these cars or beat them like most 17-25 year old boys, is when these problems occur.
That you say is a crops. .. I am a civic lsi 93 owner and I have 590.000 km and the car is amazing with out problems. .. except the natural services, brakes, clutch, oil, belts. ... and the cars you have in the video is crap tuned..
Also the 10th Gen is leaps and bounds better than any previous civic. You're trying to categorize them all together when you just can't compare the new ones they're very solid vehicles.
Right on. I have the 10th gen si and it’s awesome. Whoever made the video didn’t do his research very well, especially about not being able to the gear number.
10th gen is garbage lol the k20z3 was the last good performance engine Honda made, everything after 2011 just appeals to the masses and not true performance enthusiasts 😪
Are you for real, who drives a manual gearbox car and doesn't know where the gears are? Many cars don't have the shift pattern on the knob from new. What a dum excuse / comment.
06-07 rear tire wear is not from a faulty control arm... It was designed that way on purpose to give you about -1.5" camber and this was mostly on Si models. It's supposed to help with handling. People complained and Honda came out with a different arm that makes it -0.8". Hell, I have a 13 Civic Si and it's at -1.4" rear. I like it that way. It helps with handling. Otherwise, a lot of the problems you pointed out are also found in other cars. Take my 94 Corolla. Cracked exhaust manifold and headliner falling. These cars are old and technology back then was pretty limited. But just like my 90 Integra, it'll keep starting up and drive you to work.
I know every time i change gear, i have to look at the gear knob to find where the next gear is. A worn gear knob would definitely send me into a ditch, and a sagging headliner would also send me spinning out.
Get a life dude, how many 2001- 2002 Civics are still roadworthy. None of the "flaws" you speak to are common knowledge, unlike exploding Ford gas tanks and GM ignition switch issues, both of which I have experienced.
The Honda Civic is one of the most reliable car in the world. All the footage you have shown is of badly modified Civics with maniacs behind the wheel. The fatal flaws you have told are not real. I understand that a person who's name is modern muscle doesn't like civics but man you shoul be ashamed.
What a load of BS!!! I have a 2008 Civic with 265,000kms on the clock and not a single problem. Most of the cars featured are Civics with modifications or very old models........ if you mess with a winning formula something bad is bound to happen!
If one go looking for flaws in anyone or anything, chances are you will find one or more because these machines are made by man hence you don't expect the machines to be perfect Right !!
Another fatal flaw for the honda civic is ricers. This causes alot of problems in Jdm community. With honda civics being affordable for ricers,Non-Ricer civic owners always get mistaken as automatic d-series driving loud exhaust having 727 boeing tail wing as spoiler bought every part off ebay or amazon because it looks cool bouncing down the road on cut springs ass ricer. But also honda civic isnt the only car with this problematic issue. This is common throughout many other Japanese car manufacturers as well as domestic manufacturers including cars such as the ford mustang.
I own a 2008 honda civic si i had the car for 10 yrs now. And at 298000+ km the car is still running strong no transmission issue or any engine issue. I replace the clutch and flywheel tough but other than that the car still runs like new.. i did agree tough with the sunvisor hinge problem. My sun visor is been fucked up for a while now. Im not bothered anyway so i just leave it as is right now.
Forgot about the CMC recalls and 06-08 2nd and 3rd gear grinding problems even though the clutch in fully depressed. But its a simple fix replace it with the 9th gen or an em1 cmc.
Strangely I have NEVER experienced any of these issues when I did own a Civic, and furthermore, using ricers as an example doesn't substantiate your claims, it just further backs up the claims to stop ricing Civic's.
I feel like I manage to avoid a shit ton of incoming problems coming in my way. That unless they will pop up soon. I own a Honda Civic Si 15' (9th gen) I am worried about my old family Hatchback 95'. Glad nobody is driving it now. But I'm going to mod it soon. Thanks for the video about the transmission problem that might occur on that car I'm going to put a better one soon.
Long Tran also my accord doesn't downshift when the car is slowing down. It only downshifts if i press the accelerator more than 10%. Under that the engine will just rev up and pull the car while holding a high gear. So far what ive done was as im slowing down i would blip the throttle (Don't forget its an automatic) to "force" it to downshift. Wierdly, the accord actually likes to be driven like that. *Though tbh, it feels wierd bliping the throttle with 2 pedals instead of 3.*
Tell me when an owner of a manual transmission car ever has to look at the gear shift lever to shift into the correct gear. The accident you showed occurred because the driver was looking at the knob.
You should've included consumer report's statement about how the new type R broke down 2x during testing but they still made it the best affordable race car
the number 1 fatal flaw with this car are the drivers. 2 collisions in under a month both involving civic drivers suddenly coming out into the road against red lights or stop signs.
The shift knob in my Chevy wore down too. The only time you would need to look at the pattern is the 1st time in an unfamiliar car, there are only a few different patterns anyway.
Oh get real! Any of these issues could happen to any vehicle....every vehicle has it's issues, weak spots, technical failures if you don't maintain them with proper maintenance. I've had various Honda's including three Honda Civics over the years and NEVER had any of these issues! Most of these cars in the video look poorly modified, are racers or are basically being mistreated and driven in a manner 'just waiting for an accident to happen'.
$1300 for an exhaust manifold? What? Just buy a tubular header if that's the case, you can find dozens of them for less than $400. From efs to current Gen.
These may be facts but try and coordinate your explanations with according years instead of showing mostly old pre 2000 civics and crx. It's makes the video unprofessional and misleading.
No idea why it costs hundreds or thousands of dollars for some of those fixes. But the cracked sun visor mount is also a problem in my 86. I have to either get a metal replacement or buy a new visor.
I hit 38000 and my ac compressor and clutch is leaking freon on my 2016 civic. I have an extended warranty and in the process of it getting it fixed (maybe honda does not like fixing warranty issues.)
I had a Honda prelude nothing but problems, two of my friends had civics just like me only problems. Neither my friends or I had bought Hondas since 1993 I would by any brand but Honda and Chrysler!
If you have to look down while changing gear you should drive an Automatic. Little tip..... Gear stick in the middle ='s 3rd forward and 4th back. Done! easy as...
The 2001-2005 transmission problem they spoke about is very very true. trans' go up between 80-110k miles like clockwork. And the price to replace is also accurate. However, this problem is only for the automatic. The manual transmission for said years is perfectly fine.
As far as I'm concerned Honda is like one of the most reliable cars out there my Honda my car is living proof that a Honda can go through hell and rise Up from it
From my own experience Japanese cars never let me down. My first one 1992 Prelude SR. Sold it in 2003 with 231,000km. The only thing that broke was a front spring when I smoked a pothole. My second 2003 Corolla, bought it in August 2002. My ex still has it. Now I have a 2009 Accord EXL. Haven't even changed a light bulb on it. And my second current vehicle is a 2011 Ridgeline, almost 170,000km on it, same thing not even a light bulb. I've had all three american, and never again, problem after problem. Spent more time in the shop than on the road. So please tell me which cars have the most flaws.
I have a 07 si and have uneven tire wear :( also pulls to the right ( slightly ) on flat roads even after new tires and alignment :( but it's been a very fun car so far. I've had it for 1 year and put about 12k miles on it so far. Also if I let the car sit for more than a few days it's hard to get it in first gear until it warms up. But if I daily it that issue is not present at all.
J C my 06 is the same, the steering is set up that way on purpose to keep you from inadvertently veering into oncoming traffic. I don’t experience any uneven tire wear though and I’m lowered 2 inches 🤷🏼♂️ Try changing the tranny fluid, Honda updated their mtf a while back. I’ve rebuilt my trans twice now (thanks boost) and have zero issues shifting using Honda mtf 👍🏻 maybe try that 😉
Funny most cars here are all modified,we still have a 1995,civic ex with 278,832miles on it and still runs almost perfect, only the paint has faded and we have changed the time chain once at 150k miles, and also clutch
When I say the 2012 had no major flaws I mean like the engine timing belt blowing or something. The problem was that, as a new model, it had some design flaws: at 140 hp and low torque it was underpowered and the four-speed automatic was part of the reason; the suspension was too soft and it had body roll in corners; the new touch-screen display was confusing and a pain to operate the stereo; the audio was underpowered; the new electric steering was too light and had no road feel; the styling was lackluster on the exterior front, the inside styling was dull. Many features were improved with the 2013 and the Recommended status was restored - but for the competition out there it was not a bad car. I just really wanted the Si. The 2018 Type R Civic with about 300 turbo Hp is widedly praised in car magazines as the hottest bargain muscle car out there bar none. Reliability of these new turbo engines is unknown and once again the Civic has lost Recommended status by CR.
Mmm, the car that blew up on the Dyno was actually a Ford Fiesta.
You've already started on the wrong foot as far as I'm concerned.
Zerofightervi nice evo man!
SUPER_STREET_ RACER Thank you, my baby for 6 years, many fun times were had behind the wheel.
Zerofightervi the dialogue does not match the footage.. ie drag race scenes and general extreme driving .some idiot in parking lot
Zerofightervi the first one on the dyno is a 4th gen volkswagen gol.
You smoke

Comparing Honda with Muscle cars?
Ali died of alzheimer, so all old folks are now certified heavyweight boxing champions?

RetroWave Taku nice racism buddy
Jeffrey Young im s nascar fan so what do you expect
I think a mustang owner made this while on crack
Frankies honda Yes its very likely
Frankies honda si😂😂😂
Frankies honda yes
Nope and take back what you said about Mustangs
Yes, I've had a Civic for 8 years and was bought at 48k miles. I had only one minor issue and was corrected in an hour.
5,000 for a new engine? What BS is this? The new type r crate engine is barely that. This isn't anything that's fatal flaw just a load of BS. Tires wearing out? Having a worn gear knob? If you don't know where the gear is,don't drive. This has to be for comedy purposes.
Modern Muscle hating on Hondas. Why am i not surprised
Bing Fuellas Ricer
You mean stating facts?
Which is completely wrong. Toyotas and Hondas are renowned to be reliable all over the world. That is a fact.
Ah yes, simple things that should not break down breaking down even after a century of auto technology.
This is all new to me.. I've owned many Honda's over my life and have had none of these issues interesting stuff.
lmao yeah. I have an 07 civic, get an alignment and there is no issues.
Thanks. Me neither. I think crack and hate was involved in the making of this video.

Zerofightervi an auto is essential for everyday driving. Manual for the weekends.
Yeah, my 99 si had none of these problems. 270,000 miles and still going.
99 ex 230,000 auto, daily commuter no major issues.
99 was a good year!
Lol
Same here. I’ve had mine for years and had none of these problems either
I would say luck base. Some have problems others don't.
That’s cause 99-00 are the golden samples
The first fatal flaw should be the VTEC kicking in an extra 12 hp without warning, YO!
If you own a VTEC honda car or motorcycle you quickly learn the RPM reading that the VTEC kicks in. In no way fatal. It is actually like a poor mans turbo.
Justin Aguirre ok, so camshaft angle adjusting, and more valve lift won’t give power?

Jonathan Colling Its a know fact about Honda transmissions for one..........
They are prone to failure in 100% stock form.

some pick and pull style yards will sell you a whole longblock for 300$ lol, they dont give a shit what it is
You know that he probably talk at a HONDA dealer !
A warn gear knob can be very dangerous? Not really did you rehearse this prior because that sounds silly
So I assume that 98 and 99 civic owners have an indestructible car

Paul S They so sexy doe

Hey,what about the 2017 civic
Unloved and abused Honda Civics...

SevArmKnight i want to get the same si as yours. Currently i have an accord v6 auto as my first car but im saving up for a stick shift...
The transmission problems only occur in 7th gen automatics. Your 5th gen is fine.
Long Tran so im safe for now.....
As long as still know what gear you’re in with a faded shifter unlike that guy who uploaded not able to tell.
I've had 15 years and 216,000 pretty hard absolutely trouble-free miles in my 2003 EP3 Type-R. Seriously - no problems ever. Hondalicious
tires are not fatal flaw either some of the engine blow ups...
Fatal flaw: Sagging or loose interior trims that are easily repairable. Good job...
Tell me when an owner of a manual transmission car ever has to look at the gear shift lever to shift into the correct gear. The accident you showed occurred because the driver was looking at the knob.
why is our 1996 civic running at 170k running km and still no major problem? lol
John Od only 170? Try 453k
Do a fatal flaw of the Nissan Skyline GTR's R32, R33 and R34 GTR.
WillDagamerkid053 why not r35
because it's not a skyline... duh
Better still...fatal flaws of the Mustang which tries to kill most owners that try to show boat at the end of car meets!.. now thats fatal!
THIS NUMB NUT IS NOTHING BUT FATAL FLAW THIS FATAL FLAW THAT. HOPEFULLY HIS UA-cam PAGE BECOMES A FATAL FLAW HAHAH
My mom has a 2001 Honda Civic. The same year that you said has "transmission problems" so far doesn't have transmission problems
Yah because hedliner is fatal 😒
hmm..I own a 1998 Honda CRV which is basically a Civic with higher ride height. never experienced any of this. is it only common on newer models?
You should've included consumer report's statement about how the new type R broke down 2x during testing but they still made it the best affordable race car
This is because people mod them... if there left stock they and (all hondas) are some of the most reliable cars ever made
My first car was '88 Accord w/75,000 back in '96. Drove till almost 200,000mi. Stock. Nothing like the stuff in the video happened to the car🤔
Cheng Xiong i have a honda accord 97', the only issue i had with it is the alternator.
Worn gear knob being dangerous not seeing where the gears are....you shouldn't even need to look down at the knob when driving.
Alex Surh it was the worn sun visor joints put me off 😂😂😂..
the number 1 fatal flaw with this car are the drivers. 2 collisions in under a month both involving civic drivers suddenly coming out into the road against red lights or stop signs.
Do these apply to the 2006 accord as well
Now I have experienced a few broken sun visors. Usually have to replace them every 2-3 yrs. Usually break during hot temperatures (summer time).
I think premature tire wear is because those Bridgestone tires are soft-compound semi-slick track-focused street tires.
He didn’t say 2002 Honda Civic SI I should be safe😬
Get a Civic they said, It's got 'Very Tall Engine Cooling' they said.
I have an EK9 and I gotta admit this stuffs already happened to me
$1300 for an exhaust manifold? What? Just buy a tubular header if that's the case, you can find dozens of them for less than $400. From efs to current Gen.
The fatal flaw is that its a mom car
Nick Ashton or your ego 🤷♀️
Nope. A mom car is the Odyssey or the Pilot. The Civic is a car for ricers, college students, or mpg snobs like all the above.
Nick Ashton hmmmmm
NO NOT THE VTECH!!! CMON MODERN MUSCLE!! I LIKE AND LOVE THE CHARGER AND CHALLENGER BUT DO THAT THEN BECAUSE NOW I'M MAD
0:21 thats a 4th gen vw gol, not a civic
These may be facts but try and coordinate your explanations with according years instead of showing mostly old pre 2000 civics and crx. It's makes the video unprofessional and misleading.
Noticed the same thing! Most of the problems are in the 2001+ models, but showing early 90s models even.
The first flaw is this video that deals with civics that are way too old
Make sure next time to put the right related pics......
That 2006 Civic is totally different to mine.... mine's a beautiful spaceship car, smooth and quiet with power if needed.
I'm really enjoying these new videos, any chance you'll be doing the Mitsubishi evo or Subaru wrx?
I think the people who customized the engines are the ones to blame.. If stock engines only it will not happen
If you have to look down while changing gear you should drive an Automatic. Little tip..... Gear stick in the middle ='s 3rd forward and 4th back. Done! easy as...
If you notice the videos where shows the cars blow out are very modified engines probably as much as 2 or 3 times more output than OEM ...
Was the gear one at the end a joke?
I believe these problems/hazards are aiming towards tunners & street racers.
Fasting Media Not tunners its ricers. Tunners don’t get those problems
The 2001-2005 transmission problem they spoke about is very very true. trans' go up between 80-110k miles like clockwork. And the price to replace is also accurate. However, this problem is only for the automatic. The manual transmission for said years is perfectly fine.
Premature tire wear? Thats not the car thats bridgestone lol
Thank you bro, for letting me know what I need to look for on my 2004 civic.
How the hell is a sunvisor and loose headliner a FATAL flaw?
So, stay away from rally racing and 2001 to 2006 civics.
Got it.
The biggest fatal flaw is the idiotic drivers.
I’ve rebuilt my trans twice now (thanks boost) and have zero issues shifting using Honda mtf 👍🏻 maybe try that 😉
sugarfree1985 okay I'll get the alignment set to compensate for the slight pull to the right and I'll try that new Honda trans fluid. Thanks :)

"Up next we have sagging trims"
Funny most cars here are all modified,we still have a 1995,civic ex with 278,832miles on it and still runs almost perfect, only the paint has faded and we have changed the time chain once at 150k miles, and also clutch
0:21 that’s not even a civic it’s a 4th gen vw gol
I’m pretty sure that the driver is also a fairly significant fatal flaw in most cases
